UH games are always loud and hype. I miss this energy at Toyota Center. Even though I was silently routing for the visiting team, I was proudly representing UH, after all, its Coogs Houuuusse! I wish the parking was more reasonable but I get it.

Whose house? COOG's House. Came to review, Came to represent my Coogs. As a former 2 time Cougar (long story for another day), this was my first time to see the redone Fertitta Center. We came for a basketball game. Parking was a breeze, across the street. Something that was super important to me knowing exactly where UH is located (3rd Ward). We parked in the garage, and easily walked across the street. Everything was systematic while getting in even during COVID. The center itself was clean, and there were several areas of UH history on the wall featuring some of our favorite all time players and teams. (Phi Slama Jama) ayeee. Bathrooms were frequent and easy to access. The updating really makes this ADA, and wheelchair accessible. There was a great gift shop with something for literally everyone from babies to adults. We grabbed a few goodies here. We had a great night, we REPRESENTED, and we will be back!

Whose House? Coogs' house! Recently, I have been listening to Houston sports radio and surprisingly they have been talking about UH basketball. They have been emphasizing the value and product. I started looking into it and they were going to have a big game vs LSU. I watched the highlights and they actually won. Making look up ticket prices. I was shocked to find that you could get lower levels for about $15. I went ahead and got a pair for a Sunday game before others caught on. The stadium is brand spanking new. It reminded me a mini toyota center. Same color scheme, just felt similar, it sure does help with Mr. Fertitta himself sitting center court showing the same amount of enthusiasm. I hope the team continues to do well and I could totally see this venue being used for other events also. Glad that there are more venues popping up in Houston.

    Great win guys

Only went for a charity event. The venue is the old Hofienz Pavillion. Nothing special.

Firstly, this was the same venue that hosted Houston's Phi Slama Jama teams that included Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Young, and Clyde Drexler. Before Toyota Center, even before the Summit/Compaq Center, Houston had Hofheinz Pavilion. This was the original home of the Houston Rockets when they moved here. It hosted live acts such as Elton John, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, The Jackson 5, Madonna, Genesis, Prince, and Bob Dylan to name few. Yes, this place is a bit dated looking, but it most definitely looks nothing like a high school arena. Hofheinz Pavilion seats about 8,500 spectators, has multiple video screens, etc. The University of Houston has announced $40 million in upgrades, and already blows all other basketball arenas in the Houston area away minus the Toyota Center and Reliant Arena. This place is underrated.

Not many smiles and I witnessed some downright rude behavior toward people in attendance. Come on people, if you hate your job that much, QUIT! The people in attendance are there to celebrate their friends and loved ones academic accomplishments. It is a great day for them. Pretty petty and selfish to put a damper on that experience just because you are having to work on a Saturday or whatever lame excuse you try to justify your actions with!!!

The stadium itself is about as fancy as they come. It honestly felt like something out of the movie Drumline. There is a massive amount of seating across multiple levels, plenty of concession stands, and parking options all around the venue. Parking is not free and can be expensive. I would recommend using Uber, Lyft, or a taxi if possible, since parking fills up quickly for events. During halftime, concession lines were long as expected, but they moved fairly fast. We had great seats and were able to see the fireworks clearly, which was a nice bonus. That said, the seating is fairly tight, so personal space can be limited. One important heads up is to be mindful of seat placement. The sun was beaming directly down on us, and it was extremely hot. Overall, visiting this stadium was an enjoyable experience, even for someone who does not care much for football.

It was also Orbit's birthday, and the giveaway (an Orbit jersey) was gone within 30 minutes. We missed out. Parking is back to being reasonable. I remember when it was $50 after they won the World Series. We park a few blocks down (a whopping 90 cents per hour) and get a few extra steps in. I will say the best thing that's happened is them allowing you to bring your own food and water bottle. Check the bag requirements and restrictions, but it really helps cut ballpark prices for families. We brought CFA in with us, as well as a variety of snacks. Though pricy, El Tiempo Cantina margs are amazing - as always. Go Stros!

My first impression was total sensory overload in the best possible way. Everywhere you look, there's Astros gear, vendors, and fans proudly decked out in orange and navy. The massive team store alone could keep you occupied for hours. With seating for more than 40,000 fans, the sheer size of the crowd was impressive. As an added bonus, the first 10,000 ticket holders received a free Carlos Correa bobblehead. This visit was part of a girls' weekend packed with fun, including an Astros game and even a bodybuilding competition. It made for a memorable mix of adventures. Food options go far beyond traditional ballpark fare like hot dogs and nachos. Fans can enjoy favorites such as Whataburger, Chick-fil-A, Pluckers, and Blue Bell Ice Cream from nearby Brenham, Texas. It also happened to be Barbie Day, and the Upper Concourse bar got into the spirit with themed drink specials. The Astros faced the Cleveland Guardians, and although the Guardians came away with the win, the game itself was only part of the total experience. Between the electric atmosphere, enthusiastic fans, and nonstop entertainment, Daikin Park delivered a fun and memorable day at the ballpark for our girls trip.

But one thing I have learned with this school is that they honestly care about the students. And they want you to succeed. I wanted to support an HBCU aviation program, but this kind of administration gives the school a terrible reputation. It makes prospective students feel like they are not a priority.
