The center is modern, clean, organized and has all the amenities. I came prepared with a clear bag but entry was still a breeze. Security does a great job pointing people in the direction of their seats and ensuring that stairways and hallways remain clear. In terms of food and drink, I was really impressed with the number of options. They have two full service food counters on either side of the arena. While I personally did not get anything, I saw people passing by with nachos and popcorn. If you want something a little more substantial Antones Poboys and Chick-fil-a were both set up for grab and go. They also had lots of alcoholic beverage options from tall boy beers, liquor for cocktails and even a spiked fresh lemonade stand. The arena has a fan shop onsite, some historical displays and a kid coloring zone. The game itself was well played (they won!) and executed from the announcer to the lights and entertainment. Great experience overall.

The stadium itself is about as fancy as they come. It honestly felt like something out of the movie Drumline. There is a massive amount of seating across multiple levels, plenty of concession stands, and parking options all around the venue. Parking is not free and can be expensive. I would recommend using Uber, Lyft, or a taxi if possible, since parking fills up quickly for events. During halftime, concession lines were long as expected, but they moved fairly fast. We had great seats and were able to see the fireworks clearly, which was a nice bonus. That said, the seating is fairly tight, so personal space can be limited. One important heads up is to be mindful of seat placement. The sun was beaming directly down on us, and it was extremely hot. Overall, visiting this stadium was an enjoyable experience, even for someone who does not care much for football.

IYKYK This concert was AMAZING! Even with it being sold out, getting in and out of the Toyota Center was incredibly easy and smooth. The seats were ok, leg room, places for beverages, and many visible signs that made it easy to find your seats. I always use rideshare options when I attend events here so I'm unsure about the parking situation or cost, but I do know there are plenty of garage and street parking available. I didn't purchase any food or drinks during this visit. I came for Olivia Dean, and I had an AMAZING time!!!!!! She was absolutely incredible, and the concert was everything I hoped it would be and more!

Does it have its own vibe? Of course... but is there anything about the park that would make me go "Man, I *have* to get back there sometime!"..? Meh. I did have the advantage of spending my time there with a great friend of mine, which made having to watch the Astros (as a Yankees fan) a little less painful. Haha. Was a bit disappointed to see so many of the concession stands on the upper seating tiers were closed, but my seat for the game was on the second level and that was fine. Of course, this also means that I didn't have to deal with parking or trying to get out of the city after the game. Back to concessions though, I ended up trying the brisket donuts - available near sections 134 and 409, though, like I said, the concessions in the upper tier were closed. This particular concession is two fried brisket "donuts" drizzled with BBQ sauce and served with homemade mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was pretty unappetizing. I get it's a staple side dish to barbecue, but I honestly don't think it's needed with the donuts and the mushy texture doesn't do the dish any favors. The brisket donuts themselves are okay. I found them very filling. Would I get them again though? Probably not. I will say, the thing that I WOULD recommend getting here? The margarita from El Tiempo Cantina. There's hype around this margarita for a reason... it's delicious & it definitely helps take the edge off. :) In terms of overall ballpark experience, staff were generally pretty friendly, fans were enthusiastic (which, considering the team was hovering around a .500 record at the time of my visit, is saying something), and the park was pretty clean. There's not really much to do/see outside the park, but home run alley and the walkway through the hall of fame add a bit of character to the inside. Various murals are on display throughout the stadium too and they add a bit of flair. TL;DR Having great company to share my Daikin Park experience with was key to my visit, but I won't complain about the margarita either. Would I return to this ballpark? Meh, I'm not in a rush. There are some interesting parts to the park though... and, of course, having a roof & a/c was a delight. Fairly generic experience otherwise though.

The Rustic qualifies as OMG! The ambiance is like an upscale Texas sports bar, so a bit rustic while nice. The breakfast sampler was a-a-a-amazing! Yes, it really is 5 small plates. Wow! The challah French toast and blackened potatoes were particularly memorable. Each dish was strongly flavored and perfectly prepared. I also got a French press coffee that underwhelmed (it was made with boiling water so it was a bit burnt flavored), but have no fear, it was replaced with a cold brew coffee that was really good. Service was TOP NOTCH with Lily being very pleasant, attentive, personable, and professional. I was impressed with her approach to make sure things met expectations. My niece is currently a sophomore at TSU, following in the footsteps of her mother, a proud alumna who earned her master's degree from this institution and has given back through teaching, volunteer work, organizations, and community involvement. My niece has shown that same commitment. She is dedicated not only to excelling academically, but also to becoming an active member of the campus and surrounding community. She has achieved honor roll recognition multiple times and takes her education and involvement at TSU seriously. She applied for a student management position with the men's basketball program. The posting did not state that applicants were required to be male, and she was invited to interview. During that interview, she reports being told that the program does not typically hire women for the position and being questioned about why she did not instead pursue a position with the women's basketball program. Her gender should never have been the focus. Men work in coaching, management, administrative, athletic training, and support roles throughout women's athletics every day. Women should be afforded the same opportunities within men's athletics when they are qualified to do the job. After she reported what occurred, the matter has now become a dispute over what was or was not said. However, there were other students present who may have heard the interaction. Interview them. Review the original posting. Review the hiring criteria and documentation. Determine whether male and female applicants were truly afforded the same opportunity. We also want to acknowledge Cynthia Buckley for listening to my niece, engaging with her concerns, and demonstrating due diligence thus far. Our family genuinely appreciates her assistance. What remains heartbreaking is that a young woman who has worked hard academically, earned repeated honor roll recognition, sought opportunities to contribute to her university, and proudly continued her family's TSU legacy could leave an interview feeling that being a woman made her less welcome. My niece may be young, but she is fully capable of advocating for herself, and she has a family standing firmly behind her. We expect Texas Southern University to conduct a fair and thorough review, speak with witnesses, review the documentation, ensure there is no retaliation, and take appropriate action if her complaint is substantiated. There is pride, history, and family legacy attached to Texas Southern University. There should also be trust that every student will receive a fair opportunity regardless of gender.
