Not to be confused with BB-VA-jayjay (aka Big, Beautiful VA-JJ) which is what my Barbi brought with her when I brought her here. One of the best stadiums in MLS, I'd argue, and the weather here is always wonderful. It's also perfectly located in a sadly gentrified neighbourhood, right next to downtown Houston in EaDo, and really adds to its surroundings, and is nothing short of beautiful inside and out. Would not be out of place as a European Stadium, and is truly magnificent. My other review of this stadium said: Not to be confused with BDSM Stadium, which is something very different, more adult, more painful, more restrictive, for the sub anway. Moving on. Houston has a pretty amazing soccer stadium just to the east of downtown and it's beautiful and perfect for what it does, one of the better ones I've been to. I'd downgrade for the insane cost of everything (a beer is 10 to 20 dollars, yes I'm serious), but then every stadium is like that these days... they should GTFO really. But for the stadium itself.... wow. It's a shame they didn't have the stadium during the days when they were winning everything, this would have been perfect for that, but hopefully one day they will be winning everything again with this great stadium, that is like the Reliant Stadium/NRG Stadium of soccer.. it's amazing. As for the team, it's home to the Houston Dynamo. Not to be confused with a murder plot against an orange-white Clownfish in America's 4th largest city (Houston Die-Nemo). Houston is one of the classic teams in the league, even though they secretly stole San Jose away from San Jose, and changed the Earthquake name to Dynamo, to reflect the industrial energy nature of the Houston economy. I'm a fan of a team and I think they do a good job, and are a main fixture in the sports scene of the city, which isn't really much of a sports city to be honest, and none of the Rockets/Astros/Texans get an immense amount of love compared to other regions, and the Dynamo holds its own to some degree. It had some great success in the past and long may that continue. They need to get back on the wagon and be a top team, and I hope they can get the support they deserve to go with their amazing stadium close to downtown. And yeah this stadium gets hot AF in summer, but it's all good. read more

It was super fun, and clean. You even have your own private outdoor seating. Suite Details*** Suite #19 felt like one of the prefect suite locations, right on center field. If you like having equal sightings, like me. If you're more of a goal zone type, suite 19, maybe it's a tad bit closer to the goal on our right. Indoor Bar table facing field, sit 4. Center bar table sit 2. Entery table sit 2 Sink, mini bar. Trash it's hidden, in a compactor drawer, for extra spacing, &clearly out the way. Employer's check in on guest needs. It's private access to enter the suite door, unless some open the door to invite you in. Our choice of eats for catering, was the nachos. The nachos was very delicious. They had unlimited toppings of your choice, as well as all the Salsa's you could think of. Salad as well. read more

This is a pretty remarkable stadium, aesthetically speaking. The organic architectural elements are quite the stunning addition to Houston "Stadium District." I've been inside of it twice, and found it fairly easy to navigate. However, I am just not a huge fan of open stadiums. Because, Houston heat and rain. I know, suck it up sweetheart, everyone else does! But go figure, sitting through a Dynamos game with moist socks (mmmhmm) and damp clothes isn't really my thing. Oh right, I also have a slight fear of heights and this stadium really piques that whole phobia thing. I'm fine and dandy at NRG Stadium and Toyota Center, but I suppose the shallower depths of the seats (if that makes sense, probably doesn't), steep stairways, and "openness" of the layout makes my grossly overactive spidey senses tingle. And sure, I get that BBVA ain't no NRG or Toyota in terms of gross revenue and soccer is not especially lucrative in Houston, I do! But hey, awesome unobstructed view of the field and Jumbotrons at all time is pretty sweet, if you're really into soccer (of which should it should be apparent, I am not). As far as grub and drank options go, huge MEH. Not a lot of vegetarian options, which is fine by me. But of significance to me - only beer or sugary frozen drinks available here! The husband was able to somehow purchase a white wine from the VIP area once. Turned out to be some kind of offensively sweet dessert wine and had to pass it on to someone else. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that Houston is fortunate enough to have this stadium and the kickass Dynamos, but it's just "all right," to me. read more

This is a great looking stadium where the view from nearly every seat is pretty good. The biggest issue is the uncovered seating areas. Daytime events in the summer are brutal with nothing to protect you from the blazing ball of fire attacking from above. There are also no fans or air circulation methods anywhere so even watching games in the evenings can be face-meltingly humid. Concessions are the standard crazy priced fare - I try to eat beforehand, but drinks usually become a necessity. I did have a $9 small brisket sandwich once which I quickly regretted. A tall beer is $11.50, water $5. The stadium itself is nice to look at and the games are a lot of fun to attend. Parking can be an issue so get there early to find lots that don't cost $20. read more

Let's go Dynamo..... This stadium is cute and clean. There is not a bad seat in the house, except for when the sun is facing your seat. The food and drinks are over priced and is not that great... typical stadium food. The restrooms are clean and are plenty. Parking is extremely bad and not well thought out. And people with personal lots make a killing out of desperate people needing a parking spot. Parking prices are outrageous. BBVA should purchase some land and build a parking garage for the stadium. Waaaaay more seats in the stadium than parking. However, the location allows for a lot of pre-game festivities. I highly recommend going to BBVA... Great stadium, but parking sucks!! read more

Great stadium with awesome views no matter where you sit! This is my wife and I was first time to the stadium we can for the inaugural season opener of the Texas Southern University football team. We bought the cheapest tickets behind the goal line and still felt very close to the action. One of the things that we loved about the stadium is the design and the architecture in general it was wonderful and spectacular. Very happy that this is the new home of the TSU tigers although I would like to see you a little bit more maroon TSU paraphernalia at least on game days around the stadium because it just looks so God awfully orange. read more

Hands down... Awesome experience! This was our very first soccer experience and of course to watch our very own Houston Dynamo! Walking in here with so much ease, not people pushing and shoving, foods and drinks seem a lot more affordable, tickets don't cost and arm or a leg and ultimately the ambiance is out of this world! The fanatics of 2017 made the stadium, the band was so lively, loud, and played some Latin beat faves (yes including Despacito). The stadium is outdoors and we did face the sun for most of the game but the awesome game kept us from focusing on the sun and more on the win against the Chicago fire. Also, if you are the designated driver of the group (I was with my kids) they give you a ticket and a wristband of unlimited drinks for free all because you are committed to not drink any alcohol. After the game and the 3-0 win, we stayed to meet Diesel for a photo shoot. This was definitely a sporting event to remember. We look forward to coming in here again and we have now converted into die hard Dynamo's fans for life! P.S, My kids got to meet and greet all the players in the tunnel once they came out. Was a Dynamo mini-plan holder this year because I bought into the hype going into this season (in hindsight, a very poor life decision). Although the quality of the team has been hideous this year (which means lots of empty seats), the stadium itself is still nice and intimate. It's Houston in the summer and it's outdoor, so it's going to be hot. They've gotten rid of daytime games during the hottest months, so that's helped, but please still be prepared with wearing loose fitting clothing and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate before you come. The concessions are what they are: expensive and mediocre food, with extremely long lines during halftime. So start heading down before the first half ends if you don't want to miss the start of the second half. The sightlines are good around the stadium, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Personally, I prefer an upper deck seat in the middle of the field, versus behind the goals on the lower section. The jumbotron is decent, on one side of the stadium, but if you're sitting right below it, you're out of luck unless you want to keep turning around for replays. There are two screens on the other side of the stadium, but they are pretty much flat screen TVs and are tiny. The restrooms are in good quality and concourses are wide enough so getting out of there is generally pretty quick, even during sellouts. As far as parking, if you want to avoid paying, look for free street parking on the east side of the stadium, but be very wary of obeying all the laws. Cops routinely ticket cars for parking too close to intersections, fire hydrants, etc, and I've been ticketed before. read more

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Even if you're not a soccer fan, this place has the most amazing sports atmosphere in Houston. Even if its nickname is "the Oven." If you come, come early and tailgate with one of the supporters group. If you're like me, I'm content with sitting at the back of my car drinking beers and people watching. If you have kids, it's fun to go over to Orange Avenue and win free prizes. The cover bands are usually pretty decent, and if you're a reusable grocery bag hoarder (like me!), bring some recycling for a free bag! If you're hungry, I would eat at Lucky's or at the Fuddrucker's truck. Inside the stadium, the seats are at the perfect pitch so that every seat is a great seat. (Insiders tips: sit on the side lines or south end for shade. The corners and north end are not covered. Also, for afternoon games, sit on the west side to avoid sun in your eyes. I also like to bring a hat to night games to keep the lights out of my eyes.) Ladies, you'll agree with me when I say that air conditioned restrooms are AMAZING! Also, the teams pro shop has a great selection of lady Dynamo wear. It'll keep you out of the unflattering XL free tshirt territory. For the foodies, BBVA has great food, but it'll cost you at least $9.50. They do have cheaper options, but they're the standard hot dog, hamburger fare. I love the tamales, loaded nachos, and pulled pork sandwiches. It is a bit pricey, but worth it once in a while. BBVA also carries St. Arnold's! They carry weedwacker and lawnmower at select spots. After the game, if you want to hang out and avoid traffic, go to the southeast corner for autograph alley. It's fun to get a couple autographs while traffic dissipates. Negatives: Sometimes the food service staff is slow. Like 30 minutes for tamales WHILE THERE'S A GAME I'M MISSING TO PAY $11 FOR FOOD. It seems like most of the food is the same with little modifications, so why does it seem like they're doing it for the first time every time?! Also, it's hot. So bring sunscreen and bug spray. Also, sometimes it's distracting when the supporters groups don't have their act together and end up competing with each other, instead of amplifying the cheers. Get it together guys. Overall, everyone needs to make a trip out =) read more

I'm sorry, but I've got to update my review and dock this place a star. It's on the verge of going down to a single star at the rate this season is going. Whoever came up with the idea that having an open air stadium in Houston was a good idea should be forced to run laps on this field in the middle of July and August. Or at least forced to sit on the east side of the stadium with the sun bearing down on them through the late afternoon. Whatever home field advantage the humidity was supposed to give us hasn't materialized, as the Dynamo and Dash are both floundering, the national teams didn't bother training in town before heading down to Brazil, and water breaks are the norm, not the exception. $4 bottles of water at the concession stand in the summer is absolute extortion. This past season, multiple Dynamo and Dash games have been postponed or rescheduled due to rain, the games they do play have been in unbearable heat, and the drops in attendance have reflected it. They need to figure something out, because the current set up just isn't conducive to a good experience. read more

So I've been supporting the Dynamo for awhile all the way back to Robertson stadium, so when they moved over to this new stadium was super excited. I finally got a chance to visit this stadium via Yelp Night where we were able to purchase discounted tickets! My only complaint was that I feel they rushed this stadium a bit. All of the other stadiums in town have a drop top. This place needs it too! With the Houston weather, it goes from sunny and hot to rainy and miserable in minutes. For days where it's going to pour they totally need some kind of retractable roof. Besides that the seats were great, upper level still leaves you really close to the field. read more

I truly love the party suite here! Especially with amazing Dash scored 6-1 lol 16 of us in a small party suite with complimentary food and drinks is amazing! Especially in a Texas summer with AC! We can always go out and come back to the room to cool us down. The best part of it is the view! We were quite close to the field especially after the switch at the second half. We saw U.S. Open last night and went with friends and family. We sat by corner kick area by section 102. It had a good view. We were able to see players walk and Diesel. They have slightly better food options. It was 91 degrees and seats are cooler than ordering food inside. If it's your first time visiting don't wait till 45 minute mark to get in line because they can get long. There is parking on side streets however be careful about "no parking". Sometimes they are not facing the right way. Also if building is abandoned and you block driveway they will still give a ticket. After 6 pm it's free from Monday-Saturday. Free parking at meters on Sunday. No water bottles are allowed in stadium. If you sit close to the front bring your favorite dynamo item and you might have a shot at a getting it autographed. There's plenty of pubs to hit before entering into the stadium for pre-game or post. I was not impressed with the stadium. It's great that we could get a stadium for the dynamos. It's very small to any comparison. While the stadium has good seating for viewing anywhere you sit and covered seating in certain areas from the size of the stadium. If you're going to pay stadium prices the popcorn could at least not be stale and difficult to chew. My advice is to eat at one of the local dives. But the over all experience is great minus food. Why don't more people go to see the Dynamo? 90 minutes of play actuon is so much better than waiting three hours to see the Astros lose another devastating game. The amenities: obviously the stadium itself is spotless. The beer taps are so new that when they poured off the head off my beer, the drain tray overflowed because the plastic seal was still on the tap apparatus. Not a bad thing, I'll go ahead and assume my Bud Light was just as fresh. Sure, why not. The trouble with that open roof in July however is that cold beers go down a bit too easily. Leading to early onset munchies. From thence pursued the only disappointing part of Operation: "Sure, Soccer Could Be Fun": jury-rigged vegetarian tacos at Los Anaranjados. This request blew their minds. They gave me six corn tortillas with a plastic ketchup cup of diced tomatoes. Total filling volume: 'bout 2 tablespoons. Not unlike my sole sad, sad experience at In n Out Burger with a "veggie burger, Animal Style." Yeah, turns out that's a tomato slice wrapped in lettuce. Um, what? Each year, the Dynamo have a 5K race. And luckily enough, they give free game tickets to their participants with a sweet tech shirt. It's been nice to watch the Dynamo team grow up and graduate from the university stadium into a home of their own. I like the modern steel color combined with the orange seats. And, the seat are pretty close to the field and access to the seats is fairly easy to navigate. And from where I was sitting, we had aluminum underneath the seats which makes a nice loud sound when stomping your feet and cheering the team. Luckily, I attended an evening game so the weather was a little more bearable to manage. The concessions were your standard fair that you would find at a game. $7.50 for a beer and $8 bucks for some nachos.... Parking can be a bit confusing and frightening if people don't read the ONE WAY only signs. Overall, I think Houstonians should support our local sports teams, and at least visit the stadium once this season. The games are affordable, and it makes for a fun outing with friends. Used my company's season tickets to attend the most recent home game against the NY Redbulls. The new stadium is great, the atmosphere was great and the prices for concessions weren't even that bad. You'll get swept up into the enthusiasm even if you've never watched a soccer game before. Definitely a Houston secret that plenty of people are in on already. My only complaint is the stadium is open air and doesn't catch much of a breeze so be prepared to get soaked with sweat on a hot summer night. It's outdoors. It's Houston. Why, oh why would you have an open roof stadium in Texas, especially Houston, TEXAS? It's generally clean-though there have been times the ladies room is gross- management their runs it efficiently and the food prices are a bit high. I wish they had more fans, like the ones at Constellation Field. It's important to note that the people in charge generally try to make it a positive experience despite soccer fans celebrating the beautiful game, essentially in one of Dante's circles of Hell due to the heat. I'm willing to forgive it, because during the cool months (err 2 days out of a leap year) it can be nice and the view is overall quite decent. I think it's hard to have a bad seat, unless you're in the section that's not partially covered. When it rains, well it'll suck, but I like soccer enough, I'll sit through pouring rain. I'm going to assume the average person would not. So, let's end this on a positive note. If you have an issue with the stadium management generally will help you however they can. An idiot once threw beer in my direction and I was given a clean shirt in exchange and the drunk was probably kicked out. It may be hot as hell at BBVA, but they're not going to allow trashy behavior inside. I mean, they have to do something to make up for the heat. It's not the best soccer stadium, but if you're going to see a Dynamo or Dash game, this is really the only option in Houston during the season. Just know stadiums can be better than this. read more

I was stopped because of my purse . My purse was a small crossbody no bigger than the picture posted in the bottom that was allowed I had my wallet and my phone it. I had to ask my driver to come back to get my purse. And walk around with my wallet in my hand. Once inside I saw purses twice the the size I mine. I saw people with backpacks. I work with a remodeling company and went for an event done by Sherwin Williams for all contractors and painting companies. The venue it self is very modern and I liked the architecture of the Stadium. Restroom and facilities were clean, plenty of places to recycle and staff was very friendly. Only thing I had to pay for was parking and it was about 5 dollars for the daily rate it was also near by but then again that it's not a big issue for me at least. Food was free at event so I wouldn't be able to rate pricing on food and beverages at this time. Had fun and meet Dynamo's Marlon Hairston. read more

Been a season ticket holder to the Dynamo now for years and while I've had some weird experiences a few times at BBVA with either concessions and security supervisors, I do really like the stadium. The Houston Dynamo have a hell of a home! For the people crying about it being an open stadium, they should realize it puts us at an advantage. The other teams simply cannot cope with the humidity or heat, but with that said for the 2015 season, they've done a great job of scheduling the games later at night. My views of this stadium have evolved. This is a small stadium, but with that, you are much closer to the actions. It only takes you a few minutes to get to your seats versus Reliant that can take 20 minutes even for 100 level seats. The folks who work the Dynamo games are friendly, but not necessarily equipped to handle customers with questions. The playback screens leave a lot to be desired. But getting in fairly quick. They have decent beer throughout the stadium and the club level has a nice bar. They did not put a lot of thought, or at least not good thought, into the logistics of coming and going from the stadium. I would recommend public transportation. read more

I didn't like the misting water fans but my wife loves them! Team Store: Prices were like, let me check your wallet at the door! So we passed on the actual team gear and jerseys. A hamburger that taste like it came from the elementary school cafeteria, cheeseburger, chili cheese fries, chicken tender basket w/fries, and two waters $50.00 The band plays music and I mean j-a-m ming. Visited this stadium on October 14,2017. Everything was fine until I went to buy a couple beers at the Bayou City BBQ stand at 2:37pm. Was told that I needed to show my Id in order to purchase. She said that she was told it applied to everyone. This is clearly in violation of stadium policy which says that one must be 30 to purchase alcohol beverages there as I pointed out to her. At 64 years of age I don't think I should be ridiculed to such a standard. I promised myself that I would never purchase a beverage there again. read more

We were here for the Real Salt Lake/Dynamo game. This is a beautiful stadium. There really isn't a bad seat in the house, at least from my vantage point. The stadium is clean with a lot of beer carts. There aren't many mixed drink carts, so depending on where you are sitting, you may have to walk a bit. We were told as a policy, visiting fans need to be escorted out of the stadium for protection. I found this a little strange to hear, but it was actually very welcomed since we had a lot of women with us, and I really didn't know what to expect since we won 3-1. I love BBVA aka "The Bank". I've been for a Dynamo game and an Ed Sheeran concert and on both occassions I had a great time. It's located one block away from my home, so I love the convenience to my place. Of course that makes traffic bad sometimes, but it doesn't bother me one bit. As for the stadium itself, there are no bad seats. It's the perfect size for a sporting event or outdoor concert. There are restrooms and concessions located all over, you wont have problem navigating to the arena. In addition, the staff are extremely helping and friendly. read more

Hands down! This stadium complete Downtown- Houston. If you have never experience a soccer game before, you should come and watch the Houston Dynamo in action. I have been waiting patiently for this stadium to be built and finally it's finished. I had private tours and went to the soft openings and it was amazing. I guess you can say that I'm lucky because I'm a season ticket holder. I can't wait for the 1st game tomorrow (May 12th, 2012) in this new stadium. This stadium is so much better than where the Houston Dynamo was playing before (Robertson stadium @ UH). The Houston Dynamo has a team store in this stadium which is a lot better than what they had before. The stadium offers more seats, great food, friendly customer service, security, also GREEN ECO-Friendly, and this stadium is great to host concerts, and many more events. Although parking can be an issue but just keep looking around the area and make sure you don't park in places that you can be towed. I'm lucky that I do not have to worry about parking because I live right next door to this stadium so I just walk over here. Also in 2014 there will be a rail system that will go along the stadium for easy access to get to the stadium too. read more

Ole Ole Ole Ole! I went to the Stoke City vs. Dynamo match and had a great time. This was my first experience at the stadium. As an avid soccer fan and lifelong player, I expected a lot from the experience. I was not left disappointed. I would recommend showing up to the game early and checking out the pregame activities, bier garten and bars. The atmosphere around the stadium was electric and far more upbeat than the atmosphere around the Astros stadium. The layout in the stadium is superb. There is not a bad seat in the stadium and the seats are very close to the field. I was in the front row and could have reached out and touched Brian Ching and Peter Crouch when they walked by. After the game, the players were very gracious of the fans and actually came over to shake hands with fans. An experience that would be near impossible at other stadiums. The crowd was also energized for all 90 minutes. The drums and chants from the stands never ceased and you could feel the excitement when the Dynamo scored. I can't wait to come back for a meaningful league match soon. My only complaints would be the lack of cup holders at the seats and the seats were not the most comfortable. This did not effect my overall experience though. read more

I love love love love this stadium. I don't think there is a bad seat in the entire house. The energy echoed throughout the entire match. It's as new as the day constructed and remarkably clean. Fans do a great job of cleaning around their areas after each game. The factors listed above, plus my love for the game yields a 5-star rating. read more

This stadium is really awesome. It is not super big. Which is good because no matter where did you seat on it, you can always get a good view of the game. You feel like you're up close to the action. I had the chance to go to the private suites with the balcony overlooking the game. Great experience, good food and open bar. About 2 years ago I set on on the back rows in the far balcony, and the game was still very enjoyable from that distance. I found parking not to be a huge issue. If you don't mind walking you can always find parking around the area. Also it is very handy to take the metro rail if you park downtown or somewhere else along the train. read more

Attended the USA vs Scotland rugby game at this stadium and I have to admit that I was impressed. We were in the President's Club which was very accommodating awhile giving the best view for watching plays develop on the field. Before the game we took a stroll around the stadium and like what we saw. Everything was well organized and had a flow to it. I do not think there could have been a bad seat in the entire stadium.
