Daikin Stadium To catch American baseball, at an American…read morestadium live was something at the back of my mind. Couldn't believe that I actually got to do it and Astros won the match that day, and THAT made all the difference. The erstwhile Minute Maid park was brought over by Daikin and Astros get to rule here. Watching on TV gives all the close ups, but the Texan pride songs, the motivation trumpets, the train horn when one hits a home run, that's just such a blast and have to be in person to experience it. ! It is an all natural grass field. Wonder how they maintain it. I thought it was a carpet until I was rectified. It is just soo neat and beautiful. While it is majorly a baseball stadium, during off seasons it is also used for soccer, rugby, or even concerts. The hallway is filled with pictures of legends and Baseball heroes. The floor shines like a new penny and everyone is soo very friendly and in the spirit of the game. Parking was a breeze since it was VIP entrance. But, there is a huge huge parking fitting all pockets, with some walking involved. There is a also a metro station about 15-20 min walk, for those who want to be spared the trouble of parking. Got entrance with the Gallagher club which was right next to the train (the train while hoots and moves at every home run) As soon as the wards outside check ur tickets and let you in, you walk right into a restaurant cum bar kind of a place. Except that all food, and most beverages are free, or, added onto the price of the ticket... The food bar was huge and a lot of them did not speak english, but that did not matter because those who could went out of their way to help me get only vegetarian. I stuck to salads and then loaded myself on desserts- oh the desserts ! I mean their bite size cakes, the mango pudding, cookies....and ice cream....it was just a party ! The game itself It was the first of the three matches of the Astros team. They played against Rookies. The friends' I went with explained the scoring and the rules and stuff, and pretty soon I was oohing and awwing and screaming while rooting for the home team. It was soo much fun !!! Not my first time in a stadium, but definitely my first time watching Astros, or even baseball for that matter in live action. Astros won and the stadium ruptured with screams. Ahhh...THAT ...that is what makes a live action sport all worth it. (U can book driverless cab WAYMO near the stadium The cherry on the top was I also saw my first electric driverless cab. It has a bigger board and runs in the downtown area of Houston for now. As I watched the passengers get into the car, my heart was beating fast with anxiety. THough I am aware that it is where the future is heading, a car with no driver- still gives me the chills ! .....Lol ) A great night overall. Perfect blast of a getaway with friends.

The climate control alone is a huge win, and the retractable roof adds flexibility depending on the weather. The views from just about anywhere in the park are great, and the overall atmosphere is exciting whether you're a die-hard fan or just there for the experience. One of the coolest features is the iconic train in left field--it's a fun touch that gives the stadium its own personality. Amenities are solid across the board. There's a massive jumbotron, plenty of food options (the brisket nachos are a must-try), and the facilities are well-maintained and clean. Parking can be a bit tricky and pricey right near the stadium, so it's worth parking a few blocks away to save some money and enjoy a short walk in. The only downside is the cost of food and drinks - they're definitely on the expensive side and concession lines can get long during peak times. Overall: A fantastic ballpark with great comfort and unique features. Just plan ahead for parking and be ready to spend a little extra on snacks!

I didn't find the beers too expensive in the East Club where my seats were for Tay Tay, but in the main seating areas they have crappy beers for more. I dunno. I got large Voodoo Ranger IPA cups for around $10 which is great for a stadium but that was in the private East Club . Parking at the stadium is a bit much, but I parked in a private lot across the street for $15 which isn't bad. It was more for football and other events. The sound was great and despite being up a level on the side, I had excellent views of the stage and had so much fun. Only bad part of the experience was taking over 1 hour to get out of the parking lot (despite the exit being less than 50 feet from where I parked).

Lots of police security and not a creepy walk back to the car like your heading back from Minute Maid. Games are fun and rowdy, be prepared to listen to drums the ENTIRE game. It's a place where kids in marching bands performing in Texas heat turn the sound up. Where girls on the high schools dance squads kick in a traditional line dance. The kids and volunteers who play/work at Rhodes Stadium earn all the stars. You have to watch a Katy HS game to really see the magic though. Fans holding on to their season tickets like they were Packers fans. If the concessions should only match the rivalries this place would be great. But I'm pretty sure they serve the cheapest forms of hotdogs anyone could find and so I strongly urge you to stick to bottled water and eat well before the game. If you like food, go to a Strake home game! It may be small ball but the concessions serve real food.

Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) has a gridiron gem of its own in Challenger Columbia Stadium. While the venue has been around for at least a decade, the 2024 commencement exercises for Clear Springs High School on June 1, 2024, were my first time there. My friends who I accompanied told me the stadium is considered one of the top high school football venues in the Lone Star State, and it was easy to see why. There's ample seating, a superb audio system, a crystal clear video board, nice sight lines, a very accommodating field house. I commend the district for commemorating the fallen astronauts of the 1986 Challenger explosion and the 2003 Columbia tragedy. The atmosphere at graduation was festive, but I can imagine being more than that during a football game.

The 2016-2017 school year is the first season of football. The stadium will hold 10,000 people. It is much nicer than the older Veterans Memorial Stadium on the east side of League City. It is much nicer than what we have had before but still not as nice as other stadiums in the Houston area. However, since I pay taxes in this district, I'm happy that it is not the most expensive stadium in the area. The fans are quite a distance from the field and sound from the stands does not seem to carry as loudly as it did in Veterans Memorial Stadium. It could be that the fans are more spread out and so it doesn't seem as loud. Parking is easy and in abundance. Coming to the game from the Gulf Freeway is a nightmare. You would be better off coming the back way from Friendswood on FM 528. Also, getting out of the parking lot when the game is over is also a nightmare. It is much better to park further from the stadium and walk to your car. You'll get out sooner parking closer to the street and walking to/from your car. Parking close to the stadium can end up being a 30-60 minute wait getting out afterwards.
