I had to keep reminding myself to pace myself and not to drink too fast. It was that good. It was not too strong and tasted great. Calliope Street offers painting classes. You only need 4 people minimum for a private party. They not only provide slushies but also offer other alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages for purchase. Now is the time to visit and enjoy everything Calliope has to offer. Calliope Street will be closing after December as the owner is retiring.

We toured the facilities, the workshops, we actually sat down for some demos from the visual arts department, and then gathered around a kiln for a raku ceramics demo, which was ideal on a cold winter afternoon (winter in Florida?). Also, we were able to visit the gallery, which was hosting a photograph exhibit on the history of turn of the century Lake Apopka, about 40 miles away due West, and that was very interesting and enlightening. We also printed a poster, among other things. Personally, I think it was fun to talk/meet some of the faculty, not that I am immediately looking for a new teacher, but it is good to pick one who has some similarities, or none at all. Challenge yourself. After this visit, I will consider taking some classes here. Or come to more events. I really like Crealdé.

I called today (9 days before the first day) and I was told that it was too late and the last day was Yesterday (10/09/23) (10 days before first session). I pointed out the policy and was told that "session" didn't mean class and it was incorrect so I couldn't get my money back. This is fraudulent. I will be contacting the correct state department for this. This is extremely unprofessional and clearly lacks clarity. If your policy is outdated, correct it on the website. Everything was already set up and ready for us when we arrived. However, the painting process seemed very rushed and not very instructive. We had several individuals who asked the instructor to slow down but she continued to paint. There was a period of about 5 minutes where she wasn't saying anything and just working on her own painting - kind of odd. She came around a few times to check on everyone's work and help whoever needed it. But she made comments like, "This is what you learn in elementary school" and "That is what happens with amateur painters". She did proceed her comments with, "I don't want to be offensive", by that still doesn't make it right. There are so many other instructive painting places like this and this one doesn't stand out well from its competitors.

An instructor led us from beginning to end making a bowl. They were very thorough, patient, and welcoming. We sat down on the wheel forming our clay within minutes, I'd say we had our fully formed bowls within 30-45 minutes. They pulled them for us and began drying them for us to glaze at the tables with the turntables. The place was pretty empty so they let us take our time with glaze. Overall a great experience! Would definitely recommend for a date, family outing, or any other event. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's worth a visit and there are memberships available as well!
