As we walked in the store, my eyes wandered from wall to wall. There are displays, paintings, glassware and other items that grabs your attention. We were greeted and spoke with the owner of the store for a while. I ordered The Raven specialty slushie. It is made from mango, strawberry, lemon, rum and triple sec. It was delicious. I had to keep reminding myself to pace myself and not to drink too fast. It was that good. It was not too strong and tasted great. Calliope Street offers painting classes. You only need 4 people minimum for a private party. They not only provide slushies but also offer other alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages for purchase. Now is the time to visit and enjoy everything Calliope has to offer. Calliope Street will be closing after December as the owner is retiring.

Everything was already set up and ready for us when we arrived. However, the painting process seemed very rushed and not very instructive. We had several individuals who asked the instructor to slow down but she continued to paint. There was a period of about 5 minutes where she wasn't saying anything and just working on her own painting - kind of odd. She came around a few times to check on everyone's work and help whoever needed it. But she made comments like, "This is what you learn in elementary school" and "That is what happens with amateur painters". She did proceed her comments with, "I don't want to be offensive", by that still doesn't make it right. There are so many other instructive painting places like this and this one doesn't stand out well from its competitors.

Four of us came for a private group workshop to celebrate my birthday and had the best time. It was…read moreon my wish list for a while and I'm so glad we found Orlando Glassblowing Center to make it happen! We each made 1 large item and could choose from a list of options. Since we chose 3 different things to make, we got to see different processes and learn more about how you can make the glass do various things, use the tools, etc. We chose a drinking glass, a wavy bowl, and a thick bowl. Each of us was able to choose whatever color or color combo we wanted as well, so there was a lot of opportunity for customization. The staff member who worked with us was informative but also funny and kept the whole session interesting even during the times when someone else was making their item and the rest of us were just watching. He told us which items were a little more hands on so we could do more parts of the process as well. The items need to be held for a few days before pick up, but the pick up process was also simple. We truly had a great time and would love to come back.

First of all, you can tell that the owner, Brittany, put money, time, and effort into a first-class production- the stage, sound, and lighting are top quality! And the bands that they bring in are eclectic as well- a rock band one night, a jazz band another, an acoustic duo on another. This is also a bar with a great staff and a large selection of quality beers and wines to suit every palate. Walked around in here for a bit checking out the range of skills and visions of the various artists they have on display. It somewhat reminded me of being in Barcelona on an afternoon when various artists would set up on the square. My favorite artists on display here are: Tom Abbott - 3-dimensional Mixed Media - bright and vibrant colors that literally jump off the canvas; you will be tempted to touch each piece. He displays various textures throughout his pieces. There are ripped and frayed-edge canvas to smooth poured paint. They don't have a story behind them, he simply does it some everyone can have fun with his art. Jerry D. Martin - photographer - After seeing a sunset photo, I looked it up online and discovered that when moving to FL, a sunset experience really turned him onto landscape and he has a very similar sunset connection that I do: "A sunset is a celebration of the end of a long day. It is the final light of the evening that sends us a variety of color which allows us to witness God's ability to paint the perfect picture." - YAS! Sharon was very kind and her artwork was excellent. They are licensed to sell beer and wine so if you want a nice relaxing time to view art and drink wine, come here! They also offer classes which sounded awesome, but I unfortunately did not have time to attend one. Because I am flying home today with an already packed luggage I couldn't purchase anything, but Sharon was still very kind in her sharing of knowledge with me regarding the art pieces. I would highly recommend this gallery!
