It's in the middle of nowhere Elmhurst, off the main strip of Broadway. The place itself is oddly situated as well, and in an oddly shaped building. Fish cake and Breaded Chicken were dry. Food trays on warmers but don't think they kept them hot enough, like the fried rice which was cold. Had to ask about the 6 curries - weren't labeled at first. From different regions. Some had proteins like chicken feet, pork, chicken. One was fish but only saw a few pcs of halved fishballs. The peanut curry was slightly sweet and was just the sauce. One was very spicy so just took the veggies and meat. Instructions were finally posted on how to put together the curries with the noodles and toppings, which were set up on the table as well. It was a good tasting. Service was good. Preferred cash payment but accepted credit cards with added 3% fee. Decor was bright with colorful flowers hanging from ceiling etc. Space is not that big. The food here is seriously always so good and the service is extremely quick. The small shop only has limited seating but the food gets prepared in a blink of the eye. My go to here is always the pad Thai. My only complaint is that the dried tofu use to be a lot better and use to soak up the delicious sauces making every bite of tofu super flavorful. They did change their tofu a few years ago but the flavor of the pad Thai is still one of my favorite around so I have learned to accept it and move past it. Definitely one of my favorite Thai places and I could just be biased from my childhood memories but the pad Thai will definitely never disappoint!

Cuisine: 3 Service: 6…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 4 I am not a fan of this restaurant at all. Maybe they are catering to a more western crowd, but the taste of their food is not for me. Everything Thai felt too salty and over sauced. Not to mention that they make terrible sushi rolls. Anyway, I attend a large group dinner there last week and got to try many items. It reminded me why I have not been here in a very long time. The best items of the night were Pad Thai (7/10), Pad Kra Pao Kai Dao (7/10), and Pork Jerky (7/10), but everything else was average or subpar. Middle of the road were items like the Grilled Pork Chops (6/10), which were quite dry. While the Chive Cakes (6/10) tasted alright, it had barely any crispiness at all. Drunken Noodles (6/10) were super saucy, which made it quite salty, and noodles were somewhat broken (aka overcooked/soft) too. There were quite a lot of disappointments. The Papaya Salad (4/10) was lacking depth of flavor. The Duck Curry (3/10) was one of the saltier dishes, not to mention dry duck meat. However, the biggest salt bomb was the Tom Yum Soup (1/10). Only one person in our group drank some of it because she's a salt addict, though we probably should have simply returned this inedible dish. Lastly, I would never get sushi rolls (2/10) here, but my friends ordered 3 different types, so I gave them a chance. Wow! They all sucked because the rice was so terrible. Note: The restaurant automatically added 20% to our bill. That I can understand since we were a large group. However, it was not mentioned when the server handed us the credit card machine with extra tip option. That felt a bit shady. Like I said, I haven't been back here in a while, but I came with an open mind. I really wish the food was better, but it wasn't. Look at all the great Thai options on the same street. I will not be convinced to come back here any time soon.

The steak was the only dish that showed any sign of life. Everything else tasted as if it had been rinsed with water before being served--completely stripped of seasoning, aroma, and any trace of authentic Thai flavor. It's astonishing that a restaurant with such a strong reputation could produce food that's less flavorful than the faux Thai takeout spots tucked inside Chinese restaurants off the Ohio Turnpike. That's not an exaggeration. What's even more baffling is the location. In the heart of Queens, surrounded by Thai restaurants serving bold, vibrant, unapologetically flavorful food, Zaab Zaab somehow manages to be a culinary desert. The fried rice was bland, the drunken noodles were lifeless, and the pad kra pao lacked the punch, basil, heat, and savoriness that define the dish. It honestly felt as though the menu had been engineered for diners who think black pepper is adventurous. Instead of authentic Thai flavors, everything seemed toned down to the point of being unrecognizable. For a restaurant with this reputation, the meal was a massive letdown. There are countless nearby Thai restaurants that deliver the bold, aromatic flavors Thailand is known for. Save your money and your appetite for one of them.

Unlike restaurant versions which are often poached and include bones, the Hainanese Chicken Rice sold in these shops exclude the bones, and adds sides of rice and chicken soup. Eim only sells one version of its Chicken Rice -- poached dark meat, while some competitors offer different cuts and fried versions. Ticket times are generally quick as a result. We often just pick up a Set A for 1 (currently for $12.99; $14.14 with tax and by cash), and complement that with dishes from other nearby restaurants -- there are a wealth of excellent options, some even on the same block. The spicy ginger sauce -- the "secret sauce" that distinguishes Eim from its competitors, might be an acquired taste, but it is quite an addicting kick. The spicy ginger sauce also helps mask some overcooking issues. Fans take note that Eim recently began to offer its spicy ginger sauce for sale separately, for $10.89 plus tax for a 12-ounce bottle. Eim keeps to a street food motif with a preparation area that looks like a street cart, and by wrapping take-out orders in butcher's paper. This small shop has seating for about 13 people -- two tables of three, two tables of two, and three counter-height seats. There are no customer accessible restrooms.
