Big portions and tasty food! Reasonably priced for the area and with so many offices around this is a well frequented spot. Stop in for tasty med food.

Pita Sandwich

Service: this restaurant seems family owned, and they were super welcoming and nice to us. They accommodated any of our requests and were very helpful. Ambiance: the inside seating is rather limited, but the interior has been decorated very simple and nice. It's located at a busy street, so the volume of noise might be rather loud. Food: wow the pita sandwich was definitely worth its money! It was filled to the "brim". The sauce complemented the inside ingredients very well, as well as the chicken that was seasoned very well. I do wish that the pita might've been a tad crispier, that would've been an amazing taste experience!

Wow, what a great find! I was tired of having salad for lunch, and my coworker suggested this place as a different, healthy option. Placing an order on their online portal for pickup around 12 noon was super easy. I ordered a Bowl with Chicken, 3 Salad Sides (Israeli Salad, Roasted Califlower, and Quinoa Tabouli) and Tahini. The serving size was generous - I actually ended up only eating half for lunch and the rest for dinner. Everything was so flavorful, delicious, and perfectly made! I didn't realize they also included hummus and I will say that the hummus was probably one of my favorite parts of the dish. I will definitely be adding this to my lunch rotation for when I'm in the city! In terms of ambiance - the restaurant itself is cute, and a great spot to have lunch!

We got the Kofta (beef) wrap. Pros - very very good. Tasty. Filling. - decent size Cons - $16 a bit pricey IMO but what isn't nowadays. Overall 8/10

Came in on a Tuesday around 5pm and there was no wait. Opted in for a build your own bowl for $14 + $1.50 for extra protein. You have a choice of a protein plus 3 salads and it comes with hummus. It's a great place for a quick bite and very filling. I love the different veggie options. It feels like I'm eating something healthy. The staff were nice and welcoming too. For protein I got falafel and an extra side of kofta. I have yet to find kofta that I like, it's usually dry but it's a less dry here at Sababa. I should have gotten extra falafel because it's good here especially with hummus and tahini.

Pita Sandwich with sabich

I first tried the Sabik pita sandwich in Israel. Till then I thought the only vegetarian option for a pita bread was with a falafel. But fried eggplant and boiled egg can take the humble pita to another level. Served with skug, a aioli kind of dip. I had seen pictures of Amba sauce being served on the side at Sababa but it was missing in our takeaway. Even if you are not a vegetarian do try the Sabik Pita sandwich. I also ordered a Rice bowl with roasted cauliflower and fried eggplant( because I am obsessed with it ). This is really very filling. The quantities served is pretty decent and good value for money in todays inflationary environment. I went to the Kearny location but there's one on Stevensons street as well. If you want to look beyond hummus and falafel , do pay this place a visit for a flavor filled middle eastern experience

Falafel bowl ($13) - wish quinoa tabouli, cucumber salad and Moroccan carrots

Quick recap: - Food: Good - Portion size: Average - Service: At the counter - Environment: Whole in a wall - $: Low - Perks: N/A Overall? Good food. Average portion. Nice people. Fast service. More details: We went there for lunch. There are a couple of options that are all roughly the same price - the bowl ($13) comes with hummus, your choice of 3 side salads and a protein, the rice bowl ($12) comes with rice and lentil, a protein and a choice of one salad, an the pita sandwitch ($12) already includes pretty much all the ingredients but you choose the protein. Everything was good and fairly quick. Would go again.

It reminds of of chipotle but for Mediterranean food and healthier. I picked the falafel bowl and added a few sides of quinoa and salad. Nice ambiance for lunch as a break from a busy work day!

So delicious I sometimes think about Sababa before I fall asleep. Can't go wrong here. Price is comparable to most FiDi lunch spots.

Kokkari is as good as it gets for what I love. Especially Mediterranean/Adriatic: fish, lamb,…read moregarlic, olive oil, & lemon. Of course a Greek emphasis, but lots of intersection with my Croatian-American culinary heart! The smelts are fishy in a good way, nice crunch, texture, tang of lemon, & sharpness of garlic spread. Very difficult to find, never mind getting it right. The octopus & stuffed calamari were the right texture, seasoning, & flowing with olive oil. Finished with some greens. What a treat! Pro-tip: get the smelts, be bold. My wife raved about her moussaka. Artisan. Nice hint of cloves, right amount of yogurt béchamel. The lamb, beef, eggplant (not watery), & potato all stood out. My sons loved their salmon & chicken. I sampled and confirmed. My bronzino was FANTASTIC. This one was big & better quality than I usually buy. I got it with bones, head, & skin. Poured on olive oil, more salt, & garlic. Yeah, gotta use the hands, chew...graciously pulling out the bones, looking as civilized as possible. Folks, this is Mediterranean: a great fish should be eaten like this. Crisp skin, get the meat from the cheeks & head. Again: emphasis on olive oil mixed with fish juices from bones & lemon! We were stuffed and shared a Baklava. Nobody does it better. Except James Bond, 007, but in a different context. 2 glasses of wine & 2 Shirley Temples for kids. The service was excellent. Attentive. We were in the back & it wasn't loud. Classy servers & classy people enjoying themselves. Oh: great portions too. $407, including 20% tip. Great value for what you get. We've come here for special occasions. They've strengthened the bond, we'll be back more often. So reminiscent of what I eat in Croatia when I visit. Thank you Hellas!

Don't talk to me I'm eating…read more Once in a while a plate of food puts you in a trance enough to sit there eating silently with your friend. Don't talk. Just let me eat first. Thoughts going through my head "how can this taste so good," "I wasn't expecting this tonight," "this is the most tender gyro meat I've ever had," "how nicely this sauce pairs with the rice." Service was so friendly. Walked in for Friday dinner cus it's try a new restaurant night. Surprised it was empty. They got quite a bit of takeout orders but no one eating in there. Only the workers in there. Was greeted immediately with a smile. Wasn't sure if I had to order then seat myself or politely ask to get a table first. Sometimes it's confusing at some places, I didn't want to be weird. Asked for a table then server brought menus to us. But the next person who walked in just ordered and paid right away at the cashier then sat down. So I don't know. I wasn't given water with my sit down meal. Cus I ordered the food without mentioning water, so it must be one of those don't ask don't get kinda things. As requested. FOOD: *lamb & beef gyro plate: what is this goodness! Meat is so tender. How nicely it sits on top of this rice. Pour some tzatziki sauce over both and eat it. Delightful. Comes with a side of seasoned tomato much like a salsa consistency. There was a red liquid salsa sauce too on this plate so you can pick what you want to dip your meat into *hummus with chicken kabob: o what now this is something new I haven't tried! Delicious! The garbanzo beans are blended enough that the hummus is completely smooth. Good salty flavor. Comes with triangle pieces of bread oops I mean pita to dip. I slathered the hummus all over my pita. Pita was swimming in hummus. Why not, cus they give you plenty of hummus in that bowl. How many times did I shout "delicious" throughout and after this meal. Maybe 4 times. Am I talking to myself or to my friend. Doesn't matter. Sangria available in glass, half, and full size So clean inside. Got that new restaurant feel.

I've only had the falafel burger and the falafel plate, and both were delicious. The fries are also…read morereally good. As a takeout place, Gyros and Tzatziki normally gets four stars, but as a restaurant, it's definitely three stars, and I'll tell you why. This place needs better management. Failing that, one of the three guys who is normally working when I come needs to take charge, because the current setup isn't working. You order at the counter, which is common at many San Francisco restaurants. One of the three guys will help you, but sometimes, one of them is just sitting or standing a few feet away from the cash register, but he won't acknowledge your presence. It's as if only people who will actually take your order are allowed to speak to you. Once you do (eventually) place your order, you're in for a wait. If you're eating in, that's all right, because the food is definitely worth the wait, and the small seating area is normally comfortable. If you're taking it to go, however, they refuse to say anything about where to be while waiting. I normally just sit down at an empty table because I know it will be awhile, but when I stand, I always feel like I'm in someone's way. When they're busy, not only does your food take forever to come out, but the service just goes out the window. Again, only three guys working, including the chef, but why does one of the remaining two guys always seem to be so stand-around-looking-dumb lazy? And the funny part is that it's not always the same guy; the one I used to think was a hard worker was sitting in a chair near the back last time I came. It was like he was in a timeout; he wasn't looking at his phone, just yelling random things to the cook occasionally while the other poor guy had to deal with four different parties eating in, plus all the to-go orders. So order it to go before you arrive. Or sit down and try to figure out what's going on.
