Sabrba has high qualily Hummus and Humble service. I Squeezed in just at closing and they were kind enough to host me. Got all vegetarian dish DISH with side of rice and extra side of hummus. Totally disappointing. Falafel, while crispy on the outside was just mushy inside. Which was even worse when coupled with the sludge-like hummus. Watery amba (pickled mango sauce) and watery schug (spicy chile sauce) did nothing to help. Nor did the Israeli salad, which didn't seem to be very fresh or crunchy. A good falafel depends on a good contrast of textures (crispy falafel, crunchy cucumbers and tomatoes, smooth hummus) and strong, flavors. I tried the pita chicken sandwich with a side of falafels. They give 1/3 size of an actual falafel (9 tiny falafels $3.5!), tasty but it was over fried. You need to remember something, falafel (and falafel sandwiches) are among the cheapest foods around the world! Not here. (Yeah I get it, it's San Francisco. But $10 for a pita or $12 for falafel bowl! Common)...Pita was okay, they make a good sandwich with layers of meat and sauce. But the issue was the chicken itself. Coming from the Middle East, when I think about hummus I think about home, and the social aspect of sitting to eat with friends and enjoying the simple things in life. The hummus here brought me back to that feeling. The warm fluffy pita had the perfect texture and flavor, melting in my mouth. I could eat it by itself!! But on top of that magic, homemade hummus?! It was delicious, and tasted even better because I knew how healthy it was-- they use only fresh & healthy ingredients, and you could taste the difference. I guess prices are not as cheap as you might expect, but this is SF and I felt it was well worth it for the quality. I just hope it will stay that way for the long term and not only for the opening. The beef patties taste like burgers at a mediocre diner. The hummus is bland. I had the carrot salad side which was overly salty and tangy. The service was also wanting. All this for an exorbitant $14 lunch. I give them 2 stars only because the pita was soft and fluffy and since I couldn't keep eating anymore of this awful nonsense, I still have more than half my plate left for another sub-par lunch tomorrow! This is my favorite spot to go for lunch when I'm working nearby. The line, though it can look daunting sometimes, moves really quickly, and the staff are seriously super friendly even when hordes of customers are streaming through their doors in search of the most delicious hummus (and other tasty treats) in the land. The first time I visited, I got a falafel pita sandwich, which was so simple and delicious - not to mention surprisingly easy to eat because they've got the stuffing of the pita and takeaway packaging down to a science. That little box to hold it upright is genius! Nothing got soggy; nothing fell out, except directly into my mouth the way the lord intended. A cute little Mediterranean place to go to for lunch if you're looking for something light but filling! The line is usually out the door, but we got lucky today and caught them at an in between time. We got the bowl that is big enough for two whole meals! I got the sabik which was tasty roasted eggplant and what they call a 300 minute egg that was soft and full of flavor. The meal also came with a generous serving of hummus and three salads that you can choose from. My favorite was the cauliflower one! I came around 11:45am and yes, there's already a line out the door. There are three bases they offer, Pita, Salad or Hummus plate. I ordered a Pita Sandwich with Kofta (ground spicy beef). After waiting for 17 mins. in line and the price was $13.05 including tax. I must say they give you a lot of food for the price. The sandwich was pretty big, Kofta was spicy, but with the sauce and salad inside the sandwich, it was very tasty. I think I will come back and try the salad next time. read more

Absolutely amazing! And this is coming from a person that has not been able to find anything nearly as good as the falafel in Israel. This is the closest Falafel you will get to the one in Israel. For $12 you get a pita STUFFED with a lot of falafel balls, pickles, salad, cabbage and the important part, tahini sauce! Very good sized portion for the price. Amazing! Not only is this place really cute with their gorgeous tiled walls, but they make HOME MADE PITA! That's right! None of that packaged cardboard super thin boring pita you get literally everywhere else! You can watch them make the pita right in front of you and then add all of your delicious fillings! I got my favorite falafel pita sandwich with everything inside. All of their veggies were super fresh and made with high quality ingredients. Then you can take your food to a little bar on the side where they had cute jars of different pickles, an amazing green hot sauce, and a mango sauce. I stuffed some pickled turnips and pickled onions inside my sandwich and well as a giant glob of the green hot sauce. Heaven! It tastes just like you would get in the Middle East, but better because it's made with fresh pita and high quality ingredients. Pickles are standard in the Middle East (unlike what the only lower reviewer said) so there's no rules broken.:) Also, the mint lemonade was my jam. SOOOOO good. Go here. The best quick lunch I've had in SF so far! They literally just opened so it's a little slow (like all restaurants are when they are brand new) so give it a little patience. read more

Already a big fan of the food scene between Pine and Post, Sababa has taken over as my top spot. I really like the concept, the service was fast and the food (and portion size) was great. I went with the bowl as I'm trying hard to minimize my carb consumption but after seeing and smelling the pita I opted to add it. This is a perfect lunch spot.
