This escape room was awesome! The rooms were so interactive and the whole concept is super creative. Kylie was an awesome game master and made it super fun and exciting! read more

I went with a group of friends; 5 of us total. We were able to complete the rooms, but not without a few hints. I've done a couple of other escape rooms and enjoyed this one the least. It was 4 mini rooms in one. It wasn't very intuitive, the hints were more of answers to get to the next step and 5 minutes in each room was more frustrating than fun. We ended up making the best of the moment, but I would recommend this room or go back. read more

We went her for a company team bonding activity and it was awesome. It was great to have 15 of us all solving the puzzles at the same time. Created some friendly competition. The staff also made it fun. We all escaped but only after some hints from the staff. It was still challenging and exciting. read more

Great time at work!!!! Highly recommended and mad hatters were great! I felt like an idiot and then was so happy when we won read more

Such a fun room escape! Ethan was a great host, engaging and fun, and I loved that the format of the game works well for larger groups! Most escape rooms I've done are frustrating with a large group of people, but we all had a great time here! Highly recommend! read more

Just did my first escape room and it was great! It's unique in that it's various rooms. Went with a group of 7 for a birthday party and we all had a great time. Ethan was a super Game Master and will definitely be back for future themes. read more

A great room escape game with a unique approach. I wish more room escape games would have a creative premise that makes solving puzzles more challenging. Highly recommend this room if you've done other rooms before, since it breaks the formula from what you've come to expect from a room escape game. read more

This place was a lot of fun! My twin boys (12yrs) and their friends had a great time. Loved the puzzles and the layout of the game.

One of the best escape rooms I have done! A lot of fun and very challenging! Also Grace is a great host! Super welcoming and very kind:D

My daughters soccer team did an escape room here. They had a great time and it was fun to watch. The person working theres name is Kyley and she was interactive and fun with the team. read more

Had a team outing for the mad hatter puzzle and we had such an AMAZING time! Seriously, Kylie made it all the more fun and our team couldn't stop talking about how pro she is. We had four rooms with different themes and a variety of puzzles to solve so it was fun observing how my teammates were reacting to a different types of problems. read more

Our team from Cisco had a great time! When I first walked in I wasn't sure what to expect but the folks at Ryptic really gave us all a challenge. Everyone said they would love to come back and try another theme next time. Our two hosts were great! read more

We did Mad Hatter today and Grace was our GM. I had done the Asylum one at one of the San Mateo locations and I have to say Mad Hatter was much better than Asylum. Although there were a decent amount of locks and crosswords, the theme was on point and consistent throughout. I have done 61 rooms now and this one falls solidly in the top third. The team photo however may be the best photo of any room I've done. Grace was a great GM. Thank you for the fun! read more

Grace was great! It was so much fun! The 3 hints were helpful, but she did not give us the answer, which made it an amazing experience!

I scheduled a team event for 28 people here. Every single person had a great time. That is a hard feat to have everyone happy with a team event. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking of a team event for a large group. We did the "Escape from mad hatter" room and that was very challenging. We used all our hints and it was still challenging (3 out of 4 teams did not escape). read more

We had a fun team outing at the Ryptic Escape Room earlier this month. Our game masters Madison and Kylie were terrific and added to our great experience. Good for for medium sized groups with decent pricing. read more

We brought our family to experience the Ryptic Room escape. It was a fun and delightful experience. I have since recommended the room to several people. Alice in Wonderland is a great theme! It was my first experience in an escape/puzzle room and it was a lot of fun! The manager of the Mt View location, Ethan Giles was a terrific and enthusiastic host and was very attentive to the groups going through the rooms to give some vague hints but let the group solve the clues. We never felt frustrated. He has a flair for acting and his role as the MC made the experience especially fun because his joy was contagious. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible. Our group solved the challenge with just minutes to spare. read more

I came here last weekend to do the mad hatter room with some friends I had visiting. A few of us had been to escape rooms before, so we kinda knew the drill! I felt like the puzzles here were hard (but not too hard) and our host was always making sure we were having a good time. I'll be back to try another room soon! read more

This was an excellent escape room. The puzzles were not the most difficult, but the physical mechanic of multiple rooms (I don't want to spoil the full mechanic) and the competition with another group, made for great fun. Within that context, the puzzles were pitched at just the right difficulty, maybe with one exception that was a little easy. The hosts added to a really positive experience. I would definitely recommend Escape the Mad Hatter. read more

Our experience here was awesome. Ethan helped us whenever we needed it and made it an experience I will never forget. I would definitely recommend coming here. I am so glad Ethan was our game master. read more

Ethan the game master was amazing!! I took a group of 11 and 12 year olds and they had an awesome time and escaped!! Great time had by all!

Had an amazing time here with my girlfriend! Great location, and great challenging puzzles! Phil was amazing at answering questions over the phone and I had an amazing experience 10/10 I would come back and play again! Thanks Ryptic! read more

Ethan was great! Awesome experience for families, groups, coworkers and more. Highly recommend giving it a shot.

The Mad Hatter was a real disappointment compared to three other escape room experiences we have completed across the country. Helpful staff. Run-down decor (my wife was less than impressed with rest room). Interesting puzzles completely disrupted by requirement to rotate every 10 minutes among 4 rooms. We were also competing against two other teams, so we had to spend part of each turn resetting the room to not pass our progress on to the next team. We're glad this was not our first escape room experience. It would have soured us on the whole concept. It will certainly make us more picky on future experiences. read more

This was our first escape room, so nothing to compare it to, but really enjoyed it! The mad hatter told us this one is probably one of the easier ones in the area, so great for first timers. We'd agree. Our hosts were welcoming and fun. the puzzles required some creativity and trial and error, but were ultimately solvable in the time provided (after using a couple of the available hints to be sure we were on the right track). Only thing I wasn't impressed with was that some of the puzzles / props were clearly well used, so it felt a little run-down. But it didn't affect the game, and must mean this place is popular and well-used, so congrats to the owners / game masters on a great set-up! We would recommend it to others. read more

Fun, simple, friendly. Staff was very helpful. Prolly not for the hardcore crowd, but as my first EtR it was rewarding to find the clues.

Unique location where you move through the different rooms. Puzzles were fun and challenging and creative. Enjoyed this game a lot!

Had an amazing time with Kevin, the Mad Hatter...great clues, everything in order, and our host had a chamring, friendly personality. This is a great room with a clever theme and appropriately challenging puzzles. Come visit! read more

Great location, and well organized. I'm leaving a review because of the game master. He was funny and friendly, gave us good hints, and lots of jaw breakers. Thanks for making our experience a memorable one. read more

We came for my daughter's birthday party and had a great experience. We had 10 kids ages 11-13 and two adults. We divided into two groups. The puzzles were fun and challenging and the hosts gave the right number of hints so that we weren't totally stuck but still felt a sense of accomplishment at the end. The puzzles were complex enough that everyone had something to do. The hosts were great with the kids and really committed to making sure we had a great time. Highly recommended! read more

I have never done the Escape Room experience and was all set to do so (even though I was still a bit leery) with my son and husband right before my son went back to college. Unfortunately, I fell ill suddenly before it was time to go. I called to see what could be done about experiencing the Escape Room another time since my son was leaving the next day. I was fortunate enough to have an extremely positive experience with Alan Petterle, Customer Service Representative, at Ryptic Room Escape. A big 'shout out' goes to him with regards to how he handled the situation and the compassion he expressed towards me for not feeling well, knowing how badly I felt about having to cancel this new experience. Because of the how he treated this cancellation, it only made me want to try the Escape Room experience more, and I assured him when my son came back from college, the first thing we are going to do is head out to Ryptic Room Escape! Thank you Alan for not making me feel bad in canceling as well as for your kind, understanding nature. A real rarity in customer service these days, so for anyone who needs anything handled with care, I highly recommend you go straight to Alan for help! See you in May! read more

SPOILER ALERT: details about the puzzles below, don't read if you haven't been. tl;dr - wouldn't recommend unless a lot of broken stuff is fixed. This was my first escape room, and I felt like the story and puzzles were haphazardly thrown together and not very well thought out. There wasn't a natural flow and shuffling between 4 rooms just made things more confusing. Many of the important items in the room were broken. The syringe/bottles didn't work at all, most of the chests wouldn't open automatically (the staff member had to do it manually), the temperature-sensitive paint didn't change, the UV light was missing in the red room, the string on the rotating tables was broken, the locks on our chest were VERY worn and we couldn't read most of the numbers, when we finally did get our chest open there was no UV light in it (but another team's had 2 UV lights) and the key wouldn't come down after we played the correct notes. Overall it wasn't a great experience, and just led to frustration from my entire team because of all the things that were broken or missing. One of the only bright sides was that the staff member was very nice and apologetic about things being broken. But seriously, there were so many things broken that it is obvious that the owners don't even attempt to keep the place in good order. As is, would not recommend. If you fix all the broken stuff I'd reconsider. read more

We did "escape from the Asylum" as a team event. It was a ton of fun and really helped us learn to work together. The staff was just about perfect at giving small clues when we were really stuck, so that was amazing. read more

This was our first time doing an escape game and it was a blast. We escaped the Mad Hatter with 30 seconds left to spare! Our Mad Hatter was fantastic! The game was stimulating and challenging enough for us that we need help. Our Mad Hatter gave as tips/hints but never gave it away. I highly recommend this place! read more

This was fun, but unlike other escape rooms, you are not locked inside the room. So you lose the sense of urgency to get out. But still very fun. read more

This place ended being a fun team exercise (little cooperation, little competition...) and overall a really clever good time. Everything was within reach but had a trick to it, and the problems were varied enough that by the end everyone in the group got to contribute a little something to the success. The staff member we had clearly enjoyed being there and encouraging us to think outside the box. read more

We had a team building event here with thirteen people. Most of us are first timers. The rest are second time. Kevin was a great host. He is funny and energetic. He provided perfect level of assistance to keep the games challenging, but not frustrating. We had a great time. read more

Great room escape. Challenging but not impossible. Really enjoyed it! Would recommend it to friends and family to check out.

Our family went as a group of 10 to the Mountain View location. It was by far the most family friendly escape room we've seen or heard about! The staff were very friendly (and helpful with clues too!). Our baby sitter had called off last minute, but the staff were so accommodating of our 6 year old and 2 year old into our games. We had a great time and strongly recommend it! read more

Went here with a group of co-workers and we had a lot of fun! It's a slightly different setup than other escape rooms, but it adds to the "madness" of the setup. A few items were broken and didn't work correctly but it didn't detract from the experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the puzzles were definitely challenging. I'd like to try the other location in San Mateo, too! read more
