$600 wasted. The worst purchase I've ever made. Works "ok" for 4 months then it starts cutting out after 5sec of being turned on. Keep trying but to no luck it's dead a whole month of trouble shooting with no luck. Customer service assures me a place in town will fix it. I am then told that said place refuses to touch Ryobi products because they are "Sh!t" and won't communicate about repairs. I am then told a store 2hrs away will turn it around in 24hrs.... they laughed at me when I called. So here I am after 3 months of waiting, 4hrs of driving, plenty spent on gas to get back home, start to mow and it still doesnt work. Icing on the cake is the shop that claimed to have repaired the mower assured me it was bad product and I should ditch it. Everything about this product and the company sucks. I bought a Ryobi 21 inch 40v self propelled lawn mower from Home Depot. After only 5 months the self propelled quit working. How Depot would not take it back and sent me to repair shop that's over an hour away. It has been there since June of 2024 and I am still waiting for them to get the parts needed to fix it. Bought a battery powered Ryobi weed eater from Home Depot and the battery dies after 5 minutes. Tried to return it to Home Depot and they said this is very common with Ryobi products and recommended I call customer Suport. I called, was on hold for 30 minutes, someone answered while having a personal conversation then hung up. Called back, waited an additional 25 minutes and the exact same thing. I live in Reno Nevada. Bought a Ryobi electric lawn mower & edger last summer. Last week the mower would not start. Called every repair place in town No one will work on them. Closest repair place is 100 miles away! Home Depot said they won't take it bake. Ryobi said 3-4 weeks to get on their wait list for repair and they may have to keep it for awhile. Awful! Had I known that no one will work on them I would never have purchased it. Poor customer service. read more

I read several horrible reviews of Ryobi tools and how poorly they respond to product issues and could not agree more. I bought a $70 circular saw which has had problems from the beginning. When I finally took it back to Direct Tools where I bought it, they told me to call Ryobi customer service. They told me to take it to Home Depot for the warranty work. The first Ryobi asked me to take it to told me they don't work on them. The second told me it would take 8 weeks at a minimum and they will ship it out of town for the work. I called Ryobi back and they suggested another warranty repair center. Those people have had it 6 weeks and would never get back to tell me the status of the repair/warranty. When I finally got a hold of the owner, he told me that they will need to order parts which will most likely be on back order. This could easily be handled by them replacing the saw with even a refurbished one, but NO. I now still need to wait for the repair place to order the parts, which will go on back order. Ryobi will pay them for the repair and for me to spend more time waiting for the repair then I have had the saw. This is customer service at its best. I had a brand new less than 2 month old RYOBI battery and tools in my truck, not even charging and it burnt my new truck up before I sold the truck. I tried to get a hold of Ryobi multiple times over the phone, emails, social media and everything; and they completely ghosted me about the whole thing. I purchased the new Ryobi 40v Head component, I owned the 18 v forever. Worked awsome ,so I gave it to my son and again purchased the new 40-v head component, already have all components that fit this model. Used this 2 times Then I had 2 surgeries about 1 1/2 years , I go to use it and get nothing. I've tried over and over again to contact the support team. No answering of phones in this place. Mind you about 6 months now. Finally, I got a hold of the repair people For Ryobi, the first thing said was it will be about 4-6 weeks even before they Can look at it. Ok, I said. Then, about 5 weeks, they said oh we will put you first on tomorrow's list to check it out.""" So I call next day afternoon only to be told. They can not order parts because Ryobi does not have. Must order first, so they told me about 90 days. Then ryobi will contact me with a new one or a part to fix my NEW ONE. Mean while I am paying a lawn service until I get mine fixed. Should you buy Ryobi. HELL NO. I AM GOING TO GET MY MONEY BACK. Or I will have a new part.. I will never advertise about them again unless someone from that support team or from corporate . NEVER, NEVER, NEVER AGAIN- I will never by another Ryobi gas powered anything. Second time I go to use a brand new Ryobi 4 cylinder Straight Shaft String Weed Wacker. Home Depot - useless - tell the motor seized - bring it home and the motor has oil (of course) and moves just fine. Call Home Depot - oh, you have to take that to a Ryobi Service Center. The ONLY one in CT is 30 miles away - and the time for repair 2-3 MONTHS - OK, that's basically the end of the summer when i would need the damn thing. Its very disappointing and infuriating that I've been dealing with this issue with my 40V battery that powers my string weeder. My battery dies after a couple of months and it has been replaced 4 or 5 times (I've lost count), and the only solution I continue to receive is replacing my battery, again AND AGAIN! After rushing home to have my tool, my battery and charger in front of me because your only available until 5pm Pacific time and waiting a long time on hold only to reach someone and be disconnected because it's close to 5pm and have to start the wait time again, only to be advised to try again the following day because they are now closed!!! COINCIDENCE!!?? Its specially frustrating because my 3 year warranty is about to expire in this month and I seem to be getting the round around. I really wish someone in your company can provide me with a solution that will keep the best interest of the customer in mind because if your products are not performing the way they are suppose to, your customer service department have the reponsability to restore the confidence of your product to your customers. At this time I'm truly wish someone can contact me TO REPLACE THIS PRODUCT OR REFUND ME MY MONEY, specially when I've been a loyal customer for years and I own multiple power tools from your company. The best advice I can give is buy anything else but Ryobi. They do not stand behind there warranty. I bought a hedge cutter, it did not work brought it back to Home Depot and I was told that I had to bring to repair center. So I did. Back in 2 weeks used it 2 times and not working again. Your manual push lawnmowers straight suck. They are not durable to the shock or vibration when your mowing a lawn that's not perfectly even ground. The second you decide to mow your lawn that's uneven and has bumps in it even the smallest bumps mess up the sensors in the extendable handle as well as the pull/push turning knobs at the bottom of the handle to lock the handle in place. These knobs at the bottom do not hold the handle locked they constantly keep moving the pins out of the hole and trips the sensors. My constant issue I have that's so aggravating is the mower turns off so many times due to the sensors being tripped in the handle or the locking knobs at the bottom of handle, literally 99% of the time I want to take a sludge hammer and bake it into a million piece because it's a piece of sh*t. read more

Less than one year ago, I purchased a Ryobi mower, 20" with the 40v lithium battery. On a fully-charged battery, my mower would not start. Thinking the battery was the issue, I took it to Home Depot and met with the Ryobi rep, who happened to be in the store. We tested the battery and showing that it was fully charged, she and I assumed the battery was defective. I purchased, then fully charged the new battery, which also did not start the mower. Now I'm attempting to contact Ryobi customer service which appears to be MIA. Wow, you try to do the responsible thing by replacing a loud fossil-fuel using gas mower with a battery operated model. What is that saying: 'No good deed goes unpunished.' I won't give up yet on addressing my mower issue, but after reading all of these reviews, it may be a lost cause. read more

I purchased a Ryboi cordless string trimmer two years ago. Now the battery is defective and will not charge and the battery is discontinued and no longer available. Their customer service is absolute garbage. It took me over a year and constantly bugging/annoying my customer service point person to get anything done. Finally got a replacement mower a year after my first Ryobi electric riding lawn mower broke (after 3 mows). First customer service rep completely just ghosted us (shout out Blake), the second person moved departments, and it's pulling teeth to get a response back from this new person. They said they could come pick up the bad mower and all of the spare parts and batteries they shipped us that were all the wrong sizes because they wrong the serial/model number down wrong after we repeated it THREE TIMES. I should have read the reviews before I joined the Ryobi family of products! I started with a chainsaw, then moved to a blower, weed eater, self-propelled, mover, ride-on mower, and rotary saw. The chainsaw's chain comes off the track, the blower does not have the same power as a competitor's battery operated brand that I have. After the third weed eater, I got my money back. The ride-on mower is just under 2 years old and needs new batteries costing a third of the price of the original mower. It was serviced at the year mark, but the issue was not fixed after 6 weeks of being in the shop. I was then told batteries need to be replaced annually (at $1200 I might add). So not worth it. Ryobi customer service is happy to share their return policy and remind you that the problems that you are having with their tools are not their problems at all. Wow! Very disappointing for such a large brand to take so little ownership. All who have ears to hear, stay clear. read more

I've purchased 2 4cycle ryobi weed eaters from the Home depot in Calhoun GA. Home depot cannot find either of these on the card i used for the purchases(how convienent) both have only worked for a short time. (i used each one about 2 times). smoke would come from the casing, I would shut it off and then the pull string would lock up and not pull anymore. I 've sent ryobi emails and logged a case with them, but they have not contacted me. I will not purchase any more ryobi products and will tell many others about this issue. read more

Bought a Ryobi lawnmower in Spring of 2017 from Home Depot. The product itself worked fine until after 4 months the mower randomly shuts off (not battery related). Apparently this is a common issue which can be fixed by resetting a button behind the handle bars - this requires the handle to be demounted. I contacted Ryobitools aka One World Technologies, Inc, aka ttigroup.com and they will merely rattle down a narrated "review your warranty, search your local service dealer or send it in". My contact T. Clinkscales from Ryobitools.com actually advised me to try to fix it myself (!!). Instead I took it to the local contracted Ryobi service dealer. The dealer, PARK SENECA LAWNMOWER, (Charlotte NC) received it and was not happy that he couldn't charge me since the repair is under warranty. It felt as if they were doing me a favor by taking it in, low priority of course. It took 2 weeks to actually get my mower back. I had to follow up to find out if it was ready. Another 4 months later, the handle is coming off and I am unable to use the mower. The screws are stripped (by the service dealer who had to take off the handle to fix the motor shut off problem) and I'm unable to tighten them as the opposite end spins and does not grip. I'm forced to deal with Ryobi again. I put in another ticket and again ,T. Clinkscales of ryobitools.com aka One World Technologies, Inc out of Anderson, SC refers to the warranty and advises to deal with the local service dealer. My ticket described my problem with the service dealer explicitly and how I am unwilling to deal with them again, since they broke it. His second response was "they need to fix it since it's under warranty or you need to send it to another service dealer". Fail! I expect a replacement as I've wasted enough time and energy on a new product that is still under warranty. I'm not happy that Home Depot refers the customer back to the company that deals with warranty issues and this company (Ryobitools / One World Technologies, Inc / Techtronic Industries) merely gives the customer the runaround with incompetent service dealers that do more damage than good. How about fixing the user experience by simply cutting your losses on a faulty machine and issuing me a new one mower that works?! This is a very poor customer experience, Ryobi & Home Depot and your contracted warranty provider and their service dealers ruin the experience. My next move will be a BBB complaint involving the entire supply chain, adding onto the multitude of dissatisfied customers due to poor service and warranty handling. read more
