I am not sure of the basis of the other reviews on this site, but I love this store. Nothing better than having employees who have actually done the projects you are trying to do to answer questions and guide you in the best way. I think the staff is outstanding and I highly recommend this location. read more

I was shocked to read some of the negative reviews. I love this store. They help me with whatever I need and explain to me how to use the merchandise that I buy - they're the only store that I walk into and don't have to walk around to find someone to help you. They're right there - You don't have to search all over the store for someone to help you. They have always been nice and kind and patient. I usually go to Ace Hardware before I even attempt to go to Lowe's or Home Depot. If I cannot find what I'm looking for Ace Hardware always has it. I recommend this store highly - Alice Jean This is for Ace Hardware on Whitehall read more

very rude staff from front to the back of the store. The extremely old women at front doing the cashier work look and act like the most bothered and miserable people on earth. The people in the back will stand in the middle of the store blocking the isles and talk to each other while ignoring you. And when they half listen to you then point down a isle that turns out to be the wrong isle they will go back to the center of the store and talk about how dumb you are for not knowing they pointed you in the wrong direction to begin with. Terrible customer service all around and high prices to beat it. It is a real shame what America has come to when the older ones are the rude butts. read more

I need a bag of sand. Just phoned Watson village store and waited five minutes for someone to come back and say "What are you waiting for?" Ace used to have friendly helpful stores. Not now. read more

A google search stated this particular store sold the Lupine brand pet leash, harness and collars. Before driving the 25 minutes to the store, I called to be sure they had a variety of Lupine dog harness's. 1st I was told "We don't carry that brand." When I stated I had been informed by the Lupine website that this ACE Hardware is a Lupine Supplier, I was transferred to a very rude man! "What are you looking for?" He said in an angry tone. I again repeated myself. At first he stated "NO, we don't carry that medication!" Again, in a very rude tone. I replied, "I am not looking for medication." "I am looking for Lupine brand. The Lupine website stated your store is a supplier. He puts me on hold. When he returns, he says "Yes, we have an entire section of that." I asked specifically for dog harness's. He then says, "I said YES." I then drove, with my new (to me) puppy (6months old) to the store. I get maybe 5 steps in the door and this man (standing by the paint) stops me and asks me "Is that a service dog?" I said "No sir, I just called looking for Lupine products." "Since we just got this puppy 2 days ago and he keeps chewing through his harness's, we definitely need a Lupine harness." "I want to make sure I get the right size the first time." He gets all snotty and says "That dog can not be in here!" "If you don't have a license to show me, the dog needs to go." Too bad because I had intended on purchasing a 2 leashes, 2 collars and 2 harness. FYI.... ACE Hardware......Per ADA Law, A public entity may ask if the animal is required because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform. A public entity shall not require documentation, such as proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal. Hope the owner reads this and has a nice talk with the very rude man in paint before someone sues you! read more

Very poor service not friendly at all. Would not recommend to anyone. Was going to buy a chainsaw but the salesman was so rude. I ask another salesman and he said wasn't his department. Don't recommend White and Jones for anything!! read more

I'm giving it one star because I can't go any lower. This store's manager is as rude and uncaring as the staff. When needing help, there's no one around to assist their customers. After having to search for a store employee you're helped by a cranky and uncaring employee. They lack proper customer relations. Going there instead of driving to the bigger stores down the road for quick pick-ups is not worth it. I'd rather drive into another town than deal with such rude people. There are many people that need work if you don't like your job at the White Jones Ace Hardware on Main Street in Anderson, SC! BTW, the store manager says he doesn't care about online reviews! read more

Stop in to pick up a file. The guys who work there were standing in the back shooting the breeze and I had to go up to them to get help. Then when I went to check out. The woman at the register acted like I was bothering her, she didn't say a word to me, not even have a nice day or even the total of my order. I will never go back and I am going to write the home store read more

Elder's Ace Hardware- Highway 81 - Hardware Stores Near Me - Anderson, South Carolina

It is hard to get anyone to help you in this store. All the employees are more concerned with having their own conversations and you have to interrupt them to get some help. Case in point - 3 employees are leaning on some mulch and we ask if one can cut some screen for us. The gentleman says "she is cutting glass now and will be with you soon." so we wait for her to be done. A few minutes pass and she gets to us. Everything is fine and good and where on our way, but is it too much for any regular employee to get some screen, measure it out, cut it with scissors and write out a tag with the part number and quantity? At ace your paying a premium, and I hate for that premium to pay someone to pass the buck. They do have a good selection of goods but sadly Mr White took good customer service with him to the grave. read more

This is the right place for finding a little of this or a little of that. When ever we run out of something for a household project 9 times out of 10 we run over to "the Ace Hardware" up the street. For big projects I still use the big box supply stores but for everyday and small projects nothing can beat the selection and service of a neighborhood hardware store read more

Worst Ace Hardware in the area... the manager Chester is rude and very unprofessional. The other two locations are much better as far as having a much more friendly and knowledgeable staff. read more

As a former cashier there i was told told to keep my mouth shut and let customers in and out no matter the questions, he is very rude and states very sexual comments to the ladies in the back who help do the stock this has gone on for years and no one seems to care so if you go along with it you are a keeper but if not then you are out read more

Unhelpful (almost resentful) staff, good prices only on small, individually priced items and a layout that is at best claustrophobic. Every time I'm in there for something, I'm met first by one of several elderly gentlemen who seem to be upset that they still have to work at their age. They take out his frustration by being as aloof and disingenuous as possible. Once I've found what I need, with no help from the wandering male octogenarians, I am met by the surly, plump checkout women. Not once have I ever seen one of these women smile or attempt any sort of human compassion. The only thing they can do is disapprovingly snarl at you while still trying to maintain their previous conversation with whatever other surly, plump checkout woman disapprovingly standing behind another (closed) register. Each time I go into this establishment I say it will be the last, only to go back a couple months later because I need something quickly and think (incorrectly) that I can get in and out of this store faster than going down the street to Lowes or Home Depot. Each time I am wrong and pay for it. One of these days I'll learn and will no longer force these people to do any work at all. Maybe that will make them happy, but probably not. read more

If I could give this place 0/5 I would! It's that bad.... Half of the staff were playing with this dog one of there co workers got. The other half that were actually "working" were so disrespectful.. Even the cashier I told her " hi how are you today m'am"? She looked at me and and asked if I'm paying with cash or credit cause the machine wasn't working. I told her thank you have a good day and she completely ignored me and walked away from the register!! I wouldn't come back to this place if it was the only hardware store in 50 miles! read more

I always go here to get extra keys made. If I get them made other places, at least one will not work. I always have been pleased getting them made here. While I wait I enjoy looking at the other products they carry. There is a nice variety of cleaning supplies and kitchen accessories that are often hard to find other places. The employees are friendly and helpful. read more

Had a piece of glass cut for a window pane...didn't check measurement after it was wrapped...went home to put glass in and it was cut 2" short..came back immediately(within 20 min) to show it to man who cut it....and he said I didn't get it there! Still wrapped in their paper! After 5 min I just left..Unbelievable ! And the other reviews are right on with this store...almost impossible to get someone to wait on you...all these "good ole boys" just cluster up and hang out with each other all day!! My last trip to White Jones for certain!!!! read more
