Ask cashier help you determine balance on ACE card said she couldn't give me balance unless I bought something which was not true she rung me up on my purchase and told me I owed a balance after being told I had a plus balance had to get manager involved they couldn't figure out what the cashier done it was very embarrassing for me becuz there were customers behind me and I could tell they were pissed off at me becuz I questioned the cashier I finally cleared out the credit on the card to $0 and will not EVER go back there again the cashier was so rude for no reason if she would have ask her manager how to check a balance on a store card this wound have not happened....I am very disappointed in the cashiers attitude if you not happy with your job then QUIT!! read more

I was shocked to read some of the negative reviews. I love this store. They help me with whatever I need and explain to me how to use the merchandise that I buy - they're the only store that I walk into and don't have to walk around to find someone to help you. They're right there - You don't have to search all over the store for someone to help you. They have always been nice and kind and patient. I usually go to Ace Hardware before I even attempt to go to Lowe's or Home Depot. If I cannot find what I'm looking for Ace Hardware always has it. very rude staff from front to the back of the store. The extremely old women at front doing the cashier work look and act like the most bothered and miserable people on earth. The people in the back will stand in the middle of the store blocking the isles and talk to each other while ignoring you. And when they half listen to you then point down a isle that turns out to be the wrong isle they will go back to the center of the store and talk about how dumb you are for not knowing they pointed you in the wrong direction to begin with. A google search stated this particular store sold the Lupine brand pet leash, harness and collars. Before driving the 25 minutes to the store, I called to be sure they had a variety of Lupine dog harness's. 1st I was told "We don't carry that brand." When I stated I had been informed by the Lupine website that this ACE Hardware is a Lupine Supplier, I was transferred to a very rude man! "What are you looking for?" He said in an angry tone. I again repeated myself. At first he stated "NO, we don't carry that medication!" Again, in a very rude tone. I replied, "I am not looking for medication." "I am looking for Lupine brand. The Lupine website stated your store is a supplier. He puts me on hold. When he returns, he says "Yes, we have an entire section of that." I asked specifically for dog harness's. He then says, "I said YES." I then drove, with my new (to me) puppy (6months old) to the store. I get maybe 5 steps in the door and this man (standing by the paint) stops me and asks me "Is that a service dog?" I said "No sir, I just called looking for Lupine products." "Since we just got this puppy 2 days ago and he keeps chewing through his harness's, we definitely need a Lupine harness." "I want to make sure I get the right size the first time." He gets all snotty and says "That dog can not be in here!" "If you don't have a license to show me, the dog needs to go." Too bad because I had intended on purchasing a 2 leashes, 2 collars and 2 harness. FYI.... ACE Hardware......Per ADA Law, A public entity may ask if the animal is required because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform. A public entity shall not require documentation, such as proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal. Hope the owner reads this and has a nice talk with the very rude man in paint before someone sues you! read more

I'm giving it one star because I can't go any lower. This store's manager is as rude and uncaring as the staff. When needing help, there's no one around to assist their customers. After having to search for a store employee you're helped by a cranky and uncaring employee. They lack proper customer relations. Going there instead of driving to the bigger stores down the road for quick pick-ups is not worth it. I'd rather drive into another town than deal with such rude people. There are many people that need work if you don't like your job at the White Jones Ace Hardware on Main Street in Anderson, SC! Nothing better than having employees who have actually done the projects you are trying to do to answer questions and guide you in the best way. Stop in to pick up a file. The guys who work there were standing in the back shooting the breeze and I had to go up to them to get help. Then when I went to check out. The woman at the register acted like I was bothering her, she didn't say a word to me, not even have a nice day or even the total of my order. It is hard to get anyone to help you in this store. All the employees are more concerned with having their own conversations and you have to interrupt them to get some help. Case in point - 3 employees are leaning on some mulch and we ask if one can cut some screen for us. The gentleman says "she is cutting glass now and will be with you soon." so we wait for her to be done. A few minutes pass and she gets to us. Everything is fine and good and where on our way, but is it too much for any regular employee to get some screen, measure it out, cut it with scissors and write out a tag with the part number and quantity? At ace your paying a premium, and I hate for that premium to pay someone to pass the buck. They do have a good selection of goods but sadly Mr White took good customer service with him to the grave. read more

This is the right place for finding a little of this or a little of that. When ever we run out of something for a household project 9 times out of 10 we run over to "the Ace Hardware" up the street. Unhelpful (almost resentful) staff, good prices only on small, individually priced items and a layout that is at best claustrophobic. Every time I'm in there for something, I'm met first by one of several elderly gentlemen who seem to be upset that they still have to work at their age. They take out his frustration by being as aloof and disingenuous as possible. Once I've found what I need, with no help from the wandering male octogenarians, I am met by the surly, plump checkout women. Not once have I ever seen one of these women smile or attempt any sort of human compassion. The only thing they can do is disapprovingly snarl at you while still trying to maintain their previous conversation with whatever other surly, plump checkout woman disapprovingly standing behind another (closed) register. Each time I go into this establishment I say it will be the last, only to go back a couple months later because I need something quickly and think (incorrectly) that I can get in and out of this store faster than going down the street to Lowes or Home Depot. Each time I am wrong and pay for it. One of these days I'll learn and will no longer force these people to do any work at all. Maybe that will make them happy, but probably not. read more

If I could give this place 0/5 I would! It's that bad.... Half of the staff were playing with this dog one of there co workers got. The other half that were actually "working" were so disrespectful.. I always go here to get extra keys made. If I get them made other places, at least one will not work. I always have been pleased getting them made here.While I wait I enjoy looking at the other products they carry. There is a nice variety of cleaning supplies and kitchen accessories that are often hard to find other places. The employees are friendly and helpful. read more

Had a piece of glass cut for a window pane...didn't check measurement after it was wrapped...went home to put glass in and it was cut 2" short..came back immediately(within 20 min) to show it to man who cut it....and he said I didn't get it there! Still wrapped in their paper! After 5 min I just left..Unbelievable ! And the other reviews are right on with this store...almost impossible to get someone to wait on you...all these "good ole boys" just cluster up and hang out with each other all day!! I've had good experiences down there on the South Main store. Check out ladies are always friendly and conversational. I do have to hunt down the guys to help me find items sometimes but they usually are willing to help, even walking me to my item. read more
