I run a 501(c)(3) nonprofit equine rescue in Greer, SC. In July of 2020, our rescue ordered two carports and one large building from Built to Last Buildings and Structures. We had to pay a down payment of $3,300 on July 8, 2020 for these three buildings. I was never told we were going to be placed under a contract, or given a contract when I initially ordered these buildings over the phone. After I paid our deposit of $3,300 and hung up the phone, Ms. Gordon then emailed me a contract with our receipt. I NEVER signed any contract with Built to Last Building and Structures. Over the course of the summer, the building manufacturer, Top of the Line Buildings, would not answer their phone or return phone calls. Due to the absolute lack of communication from TOL, I contacted Ms. Gordon at Built to Last and cancelled the larger building. Since we had already paid $3,300 as a down payment, I asked Ms. Gordon to just roll over the remaining funds in the down payment to cover the cost of the two carports. Ms. Gordon told me Built to Last does not give refunds according to their contract, a contract I NEVER signed. YOUR DOWN PAYMENT IS MS. GORDON'S COMMISSION! That is why she will not give you your down payment back. Fast forward to today, March 4, 2021, our equine rescue has now paid $6,200 (we had to borrow the $2,892.00 to pay Top of the Line so they would not repossess our run-ins/carports) for TWO carports because Ms.Gordon will not return our down payment for the large building in the amount of $2,982.00. I have now had to file a complaint against Built to Last with the Better Business Bureau, we have had to hire an attorney, and all because Ms. Gordon is ILLEGALLY holding our $2,982.00. Ms. Gordon has slandered me in her now deleted Facebook reviews on the Built to Last Facebook page, she has lied to the Better Business Bureau in her responses to them, and she has had her son call me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company. If they can steal from a nonprofit, they'll steal from you. read more
