The price is not the issue. The bread is. They claim to be fresh but anytime me or my colleagues go we have the same complaint. The bread is too tough. Maybe they use too much yeast? Let it rest far too long? I tried asking about it today and the manager or idk attempted to gaslight me and told me I must have an allergy. I have 0 allergies. Your bread just sucks. Any kind ive had the baguettes, the sesame seed, and the donuts. The only baked good that was palpable was a muffin I ate, still dry but not like biting into glass shards like the rest of their baked goods. Shit customer service obviously because I've never once been accused of having an allergy or eating something wrong but there's a first for everything. read more

I had previously given 1star however after banning them for 9 months, I went back and was pleasantly surprised. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and polite and the barista made an excellent coffee. I have always loved the Newport location and I recently went to Laguna, where the manager is truly amazing! They have also removed the 12% mandatory tip and this is a good move! I've changed my review to 4stars. I would consider 5stars but the coffee at Newport is below par. Laguna is excellent and Tustin has improved so much! The quality of the pastries is very, very good! I'm so pleased that things have improved. I'm back to being a regular again read more

Not worth the $12. Burnt quiche, bad salad. Very disappointed. This is not good. Why would you serve this to customers? read more

Rye Goods - Bakeries Near Me - Tustin, California

Came here on a Saturday morning and bought 5 pastries and was pretty surprised when my total came up to $45. Their bread is good but i wouldn't come back to pay that price. Also didn't appreciate the automatic up charge service fee of 12% of your total bill. read more

First time at this location me and my husband got a sticker shock with the prices it's way over price. Wow

This bakery is such a treat. My family, friends and I come here every other week for morning buns, cinnamon rolls, and croissants. Everything is delicious and the people there are so nice. The space is very open and welcoming. Dog friendly too! read more

See all

They need to humble themselves There's no view like the lido location and it's just commercial/office buildings all around. Kind of cafeteria mess hall feel I didn't see the prices so i was expecting $6 since their $1 hike in 2022. One pastry $6.72!!. With an add on charge for employees. It's quite ridiculous Seating is boring and drab. The outdoor RH looking area looks ok. I have a feeling this location won't last. It was near empty when i went with only a few people in the community space and a few orders after us read more

$8 for a snail, really? Now I know why the items were not marked with prices. When I heard the total, I think $14 or so, I said, "Are you sure? I just got a snail and a cappuccino?" I know everything has gotten more expensive, we all feel it, but I get a similar baked items form other bakeries I the area for half the price, and I like the others better. The spacious sitting area is nice, and if you are there to rest for a while and enjoy a drink. read more

Super expensive. Appreciate that it is organic and all but prices are way too high. Even famed Izola, which also uses organic ingredients, isn't so expensive. Like that we have such a bakery in Tustin but please reconsider your pricing. read more

Amazing quality pastry's and breads that speak to their love of baking. If I could eat a pound if their coffee cake and not go into a sugar induced coma, I absolutely would. Check their seasonal stuff too always seems to be a creative variety read more

My new go to coffee shop. The ambiance is amazing and the food and drinks are truly unmatched

i usually love this place but i had a bad experience today. The girl in the front with ginger hair is super rude and condescending. i understand having a bad day but i don't understand why you would need to reflect that on others. and to top it all off when i got my food i found a HAIR in it. super disgusting and just shows a lack of care when making others food. I wanted to let them know but a part of me felt like they might have done it on purpose and i genuinely didn't want to deal with talking to them again cause they were super rude to begin with. Ended up just throwing away my food. read more

The only problem with rye goods is trying not to buy everything on the menu. Never disappoints!!!

My wife made me go here. Usually I don't listen to her but this time I'm glad I did. My wife considers herself a Matcha connoisseur and Karina's Matcha was "the best one she ever had." Every baked item (we had 5) was incredible. Can't wait to come back, great food and excellent customer service! read more

I'm happy to see Rye Goods is expanding and this location is much closer to me. My favorite is the butter croissant as it's made with sourdough. I would love to try more of the items but the prices are STEEP. The croissant is huge and has a unique flavor so it's justifiable for my family to share. But some of the other items are just outrageously priced. I will say that the new location is fantastic for little ones. The outside area is spacious and they can't escape. It's a great place to grab a treat and relax read more

Ordered a matcha with almond milk, honey and got food poisoning. Didn't eat anything else all day. Maybe check the milk?

Food and drinks were amazing! You have to go in early if you want to get the pistachio or baklava flavored pastries because they will sell out. The location had good parking and a cool lounging area to enjoy your coffee without feeling crowded. Very accessible area if you live near Tustin or commute along the 5 or 55 freeways! read more

Bread and bagels are good and there other rolls look really good but are fair. Prices are pretty high.

We love this place. It's a great slow paced treat on the weekend with the kids. They always surprise us with their own choices; sometimes is a chocolate chip cookie the size of your head, sometimes it's a butter croissant, sometimes a single thumbprint cookie. It's all fine by me, as I sip my coffee and wait for my most delicious breakfast bagel sandwich that I could never replicate at home. Don't be in a rush, and don't forget a box to take home for weekly pastry cravings. read more

Ate there on a Sunday. Had the eggs on a baguette, which was delicious, and eggs on a bagel, two pastries and two small iced teas. Pretty sure I got charged extra for avocado, which comes on the bagel sandwich, but the young girl didn't know that apparently. Bill was over $50.00, and yet they said for one tea refill, I would have to pay $4.50 more. Seems kind of short sighted to me, considering the cost of an iced tea and the total bill. read more

Total Gem in the Red Hill industrial area. Great access and support from local businesses. The food is phenomenal and the service is awesome! read more

I stopped by on a Saturday morning and there was just one couple waiting ahead of me. It was my first time at this location and I wasn't sure which door to use, but I guess I could have used any of them. Multiple employees offered to assist me while another was restocking bread on the shelves. I ordered two pastries and like others, was somewhat shocked by the prices. That said, I enjoyed the pastries and they were definitely a step (or two) up from what I typically get at Starbucks. The only bummer is that their limited hours mean I can never stop by before work to enjoy something on a weekday. With their prices, maybe they are trying to cater to the "doesn't need to work" or "sets their own hours" crowd. read more

Update again 12/14/23: Went back again to get the scone. While I was there, was checking out the menu and it said Oatmeal for $6. I like oatmeal, so I decided to get it. Total was $22. I was confused, asked why as the scone yesterday was $6, and oatmeal is listed for $6. They said that the oatmeal is $14 and its a bowl and the $6 one is a cup but they dont have that size anymore. Decided to still try. The oatmeal was regular flat oats (not steel cut or anything), had chia seeds, apple compote, and toasted almonds. It was not bad, but a more appropriate and palatable price would be no more than $10. I also realized that this place is only for people with unlimited means. I appreciate quality food and shop at places like Whole Foods etc. I feel like Whole Foods and other higher end food places are at least upfront about their pricing. I'm tired of feeling sucker punched at the cash wrap. 12/13/23: Went back today for the first time in 8 months ever since i was blindsided by their mandatory 12% employee benefit charge. I was curious about their seasonal items so i stopped in, after preparing myself mentally for that charge. Got their seasonal scone which was gingerbread and a morning sugar latte. Total was just shy of $12 and i remember thinking to myself it wasnt bad. Checked my receipt and that mandatory charge is finally gone. The drink was tasty, albeit super small, it's like a kid size drink but thats how it also was the last time i was there. The scone was delicious. Now that the surcharge is gone, I'll be back alot more frequently, probably even tomorrow for another scone. read more

The selection of bread and pastries is amazing. I never knew what a Morning Bun was until I enjoyed one from Rye Goods. Absolutely delicious!! read more

Extremely slow service. Sign outside said coffee and wine and after starting to order they informed us only the Newport location served wine. We ordered a soup and salad and it took so long that we left without the food. Ambience felt like a warehouse library. read more

Went in yesterday to buy a cake or pie for a friend that just got home from hospital. Only had 1 pie in display case and 0 cakes. Young guy waiting on me was very friendly and nice and he rang me up for the Berry pie with a crumb crust . Bam ! $59.72 "Wow $59 for a pie ! That must be some pie ?" I said and he replied " Yeah, it's very good. " Bottom line : It was a good pie but not any better than one I had in Julian for $23 and only slightly better than Marie Callender's at $19 . Anyway great quality but SUPER EXPENSIVE ! Bring your AMEX Black card ! It would be helpful if they posted pricing on items in display case. read more

A very unique bakery at the back of an industrial building at Red Hill/Ball. Terrific bread, enticing pastries (love the morning buns), a small number of deli sandwiches on fresh bagels and bread, and outstanding espresso drinks (the Americano puts Starbucks to shame). Take your coffee and pastry into the cavernous sitting area that is nevertheless very inviting - an eclectic mix of sitting options set amongst large indoor plants. Later in the morning, a large retractable door elevates leading to a large outdoor sitting area. Relax and watch the airplanes on approach to OC Airport or sit inside and listen to a terrific oldies soundtrack that originates in the bakery's kitchen and plays in the background. I have been a fan since Rye Goods started in a garage in Tustin. Some have complained that it is expensive, but understand this is an artisan bakery with highly unique offerings and outstanding espresso drinks. It is just the kind of local business that we should support. And that 12% employee charge - most people leave a tip at coffee shops anyway and this helps to supplement the typically low wages of baristas and bakers. read more

Soooo great. I got home and my husband was kind of upset that I spent 17 dollars on one loaf of bread but he finished it all in one day and went to buy another loaf the next day. I think that says how good the bread was. read more

The employee was nice. They are over priced, and over charged. I got 2 bagels, which is $6 each and the bagel sandwich which is $14. If you did the math the total should be $26, but instead they decide to charge me $34. I should of asked for the receipt, they didn't offer for obviously reason. The food was mediocre. So if you want to pay for over price food, then pay for a mystery charge for just ok food then this is the place for you! read more

Owner and bakers cant take any critisizem about burned bakery items. Extreamly over priced. Also these organic cresh stuff still causes cancer by the highest carbs which turn to sugar. Sugar grows cancer. You are paying more for same unhealthy results in your health. Like gaining weight would be worse with the high calories and high carbs. I told owner years ago from her burnt bread and she never responded just blocked me on instagram. read more

Such a fun place! It's tucked away, but a great find. The selection of baked good is fabulous. My friend and I purchased three and shared them all so we could give them a try. I was impressed with the quality of their work and the ingredients used. On the way out I purchased tomato soup, and frozen molasses cookies to bake at home. The cookies were a huge hit! The tomato soup was also very good. We enjoyed the large gathering area and didn't feel rushed. It's a great place to pick up items for home or work, to eat and gather, or eat and get some work done. read more

Amazing pastries! I've been to the Rye Goods in NP and decided to try this location when I was in the area. Their seasonal caramel sage latte is wonderful, as well as their butternut squash hand pie. If you are looking for a better than average bakery this is a great place. Tucked away, with a too small sign in an industrial park, so keep your eyes open. Coffee was very decent, got a piece of coffee cake, very delish and a morning bun which was tasty. Don't come here for breakfast, especially during the week. The bagel sandwiches are not offered during the week. Really? You cant get eggs during the week? C'mon your a bakery. Ended up getting a piece of quiche, it was meh. The serving was small and the price was large. We had to have it reheated again as it was cold and looked crusty on the sides. It was not a fluffy quiche, and we would not order it again. I hope that management reads this review as it is meant to be constructive , and I would like to be able to come here for breakfast. read more

I live for a Rye goods croissant! I love that the Tustin location is a little bit quieter and more spacious with the same huge menu. If anything, they have more selection! The staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

Dog friendly! The service is great but felt a bit understaffed. The place looks amazing and they had a good unique selection of food.

The sneaky 12% surcharge is a turn off. The bread is high quality and merits a premium price, but that full price should be clearly displayed. Instead, an extra 12% slyly shows up at checkout on the cash register as 'Employee Benefit'. And you will miss it if you are not paying attention. Why not display the price of the goods on the shelf that ensure fair pay for employees? Or at least post the policy somewhere before the customer is engaged in the checkout process. Even though I like the bread, I will never go back. read more

I expected to pay a little more than a typical bakery but was caught off guard since there were no posted prices on the bakery goods. The bill for my pumpkin pie, 2 croissants and a scone was $84.67! A 12% service fee?!! just to have someone ring up my order? read more

Great sourdough bread, however the loaf I bought today was burned black on top. I usually buy my bread from Rye Goods in Newport Beach and have never had a problem except with the Danish Rye that was so hard you needed a saw to cut it. My biggest beef is with the Employee Benefits Surcharge. The loaf I used to buy cost $10 total. That went up to $13 for my last loaf. Today the same bread cost $13.44??? This Employee Benefits thing needs to be posted out front. Although your bread is quite good I will not be returning here anytime soon. read more

Like other mentioned, pricing is just crazy. I've been to great bakeries from SF to LA to OC and this is up there in terms of quality and dedication to craft but prices make no sense compared to other bakeries with similar goods. They need to do a better job of posting the cost up front and noting the 12% service charge (note, there is no service, you just pay at the counter). Not sure if they are trying to re-coup there costs on design/retail space and then hopefully level out. Try Tartine in LA. read more
