Stopped in randomly after seeing a flyer for a Pop-Up menu done by Comfort Caterers. I had the oyster Rockefeller. They were very delicious, can taste the freshness in the ingredients. I also order the braised pork tacos. SO DAMN GOOD. They also had different drinks paired with each menu items. I order the "my wife is a gangster" drink. Not too over powering and paired well with the oysters. I hope they do another pop up soon. Even got to meet chefs behind the masterpiece menu. read more

Hands down the best bar in Fells Point. Most of the bars in that part of town I've been to tend to fall into the touristy category, or they come across as the kind of place that reminds you of college even though you've been out of college for years (which is good if you want to relive that part of your life, but not if you've actually grown up). Rye is a laid back and classy spot. Dark ambience and great music accompany quality cocktails and a great beer selection. They have a few selections on the beer menu to cater to people who just want to drink swill, but for the most part, this is a place to go if you have a more refined pallet. The food is also fantastic. It's the kind of place that seems better suited to be in Mount Vernon or Mount Washington, but it's nice to see a place upping the ante in a traditionally touristy part of town. read more

A great setting for a chill night out in Fells Point. Decent cocktails...rye based of course...excellent ambience with music on point and very comfortable booths in back to sit in and talk to whoever your with. When your done you can walk around the cobblestone streets and look at the water, which makes for a really nice night. read more

This is a great spot to post up for a cocktail before or after dinner. I came here a few nights ago and was blown away by the character of the establishment. You don't find many (if any at all) places like this in Baltimore. They make a mean manhattan and have a pretty decent selection of Rye and bourbon. I wanted to try a Whistle Pig Manhattan, because that is one of my favorite Rye's of all time, but the bartender warned me that the drink is $34. Holy Crap! I'm glad she was honest and gave me a heads up. That is a $75 bottle of rye.... how in the world they charge $34 for a 2oz or 3 oz pour is beyond me. I have ordered Whistle Pig at Gotham Bar and Grill in NYC.... which is one of the more upscale restaurants in NYC.... and the drink only cost me $18 there! Instead of Whistle Pig, I had a Rittenhouse Rye Manhattan which was delicious. I will definitely be back! read more

Went here once on a Sunday night. Had made reservations, but little did we know (no one said on the phone and it is not anywhere online) there is no food on Sunday. Still, we stayed for drinks and it was a delight. Cool atmosphere... watching Doug is watching a pro. Also, good music plays and the crowd does not consist of douchebags. A plus. Went again on a Saturday and had an awesome table reserved in the back for me and some friends. For some reason, the breakfast had been taken off the menu that I was drooling over the prior Sunday! Hmm. Anywho, ordered the crab flatbread. $17 was too much for this. We were expecting a Woodberry-sized flatbread, but instead it was about the size of an Amy's frozen pizza. With not even much crab on it. However, my friends got more meaty dishes (burgers, Monte Cristo) and it was much more for the price and they claimed deliciousness. So, it's a new place. It's trial and error. Error is the price of the flatbreads! But stick with the sandwiches and lesser priced things and you're set. I tried the s'mores dessert and oh man. Good. The drinks are strong (which is of course, not bad) and awesomely made. True classics. We'll be back. read more

Fresh flavors and good combinations drive this intimate hot spot. According to a friend, weekend nights get overly busy, but grabbing a weekday drink after work posed no problem. We went here for a cocktail after dinner as it was a favorite of my very good host. He knows the bartender well and so we were treated with a bit of extra attention which was nice. The décor of the place is pretty classy though definitely catering a bit to the hipster set. That doesn't count as a mark against it, simply a judgment placed upon the décor. All that said, this place makes a great cocktail. My favorite with was the Pimm's Cup which is exactly what it sounds like: it is the British classic made with a tea liqueur. It comes with a lovely slice of cucumber which makes for a very refreshing taste on what had been a very warm day. My friend had the Bee's Knees which was also delicious though I'm not entirely sure what was in it besides gin. They also make a good sazerac though it's not always on the menu. The cocktails mostly cost around $10 though some are a bit more than that. My one complaint is that there aren't really many normal tables, just the bar, high tables, and couches around a fireplace in the back. The high chairs would be fine but with my back it was hard to sit at the bar. It's well worth a visit if you are in the Fell's Point area. read more

What can I say about Rye, other than it's my favorite bar in Baltimore, and maybe my favorite bar period. The decor is great, as are the bar snacks (highly recommend the truffle fries.) All the cocktails are made with fresh squeezed juices and homemade syrups and mixers. The house cocktails change seasonally and are always delicious. They can also make you basically any classic cocktail you can think of. In short, I think this is the best place to get a cocktail in the city. Always delicious, always well-crafted. The bartenders and servers are great and are ready to give their recommendations. Ask whoever is waiting on you for their favorite and they'll point you in the right direction. Excellent cocktails in a pact bar, yet we still got very timely and personal service. they also played Barbarella on the television while we were there which added a nice alternative to watching sports in a bar. The cocktails are garnished with a fun mixture of dried limes, cherries soaking in a dark squid ink like liquid, rosemary, sage and dehydrated pineapples. I'm a big fan of dark places, whiskey, and intimate/sophisticated spots. This is just that place. It's vibe stands out a bit in the laid back atmosphere of Fells Point but for me it's a welcome alternative. It's not very large but big enough. I don't recall if food is served there. Stopped in for a few drinks one Thursday evening and have been going back weekly since. Very comfortable setting paired with drinks and a menu you won't find many other places on the water. Whether sitting at the bar or in the back on one of the plush couches, the staff is very prompt in their service everytime I've dropped in. Each time you go back there will be something different, whether it be their signature drink menu, breakfast menu, or their shots known as "abbreviations." We were the ONLY people at the bar (me +1) and the bartender did EVERYTHING else including clean off his shoes, check his phone, talk to a server, etc. etc. and finally approached us to hand us a menu and greet us. We asked for margaritas and this guy took like 15 minutes to pour, shake, ice and serve them. I mean, seriously - not one to complain, but I was shocked. Wasn't entirely sure what to make of this place to begin with. It used to be Ledbetter's bar, which is where my parents first met, so I wanted to check it out. This place instead is very yuppy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The first time I came in I had a pimms (which I had no idea what a pimms was) and it was delicious. Fancy and a bit over-the-top, but delicious nonetheless. I came in a second time and was told they didn't have it at the moment, but was recommended a few others they had. I usually stick to my Bud Light so most of the menu seemed like Greek to me, with a lot that I have never heard of before. But the bartender Luke was absolutely darling and answered any question I had, which was a lot. He made me a drink that usually comes with scotch and switched it out for vodka instead so it would be lighter. It was seriously amazing. I must have tried about 5 different drinks and they were all good. I had their duck steamed buns as well and I'm pretty sure I'm still drooling over them, they were that good. Long story short, if you want to treat yourself to some fancy dancy drinks, this is the place to be. And hope that Luke is working that day because he is an alcohol artist. Very well done. read more

Rye was pretty good. it is also in line with the new hipster bars in the area but honestly they make good drinks. It's a little pricey for what I think of for Baltimore but its a little gem across the street from the Horse You Rode In On (which is a weird place). It's worth checking out even if just for a drink. I can't remember what cocktail I got, but bae got an old fashioned, and our friend got a beer. It is a little small but its quaint and has some character to it. That area has an interesting mix from Rye to the Horse You Rode In On to the weird Pirate-themed bar down the road. There is a lot going on in fells point that's for sure. read more

We recently moved from NYC to Baltimore. On a recommendation we decided on Rye as a venue to visit for my wife's 30th birthday. I emailed Rye and spoke with Doug who went out of his way to make her favorite cocktail from our old neighborhood cocktail bar in Manhattan. I generally hate Fells Point and avoid it like the plague but for this little gem I'll forego my prejudice. Velvet couches, good music at a perfect volume to provide ambience without being overwhleming, and an interesting selection of perfectly crafted cocktails. What more could you ask for? I tried the Bees Knees ($10), a knockout combination of gin and honey liquor that was quite possibly the most delicious specialty cocktail I've ever had. Headed here to join friends for drinks to start our evening. On past visits, the atmosphere has been quaint and the bartenders were really cool. On this visit, the doorman informed us they were at capacity. So we waited outside. Then he left. So we waited outside. Two patrons walked out. My partner and I did some quick mental math (capacity - 2 = room for 2). So we entered. Our bad. The bouncer saw us and shrieked, "Did I let you in?!?!" I calmly explained my arithmetic. He flipped his sh*t and yelled at me. In the middle of a full bar. I informed him we'd leave and spend our money elsewhere. I stopped at the bar on our way out and tried to inform the bartender that the bouncer was entirely out of line. Without hearing anything I said, the bartender told us that the bouncer is in charge. All the while, the bouncer hovered over my shoulder. How many people got in during that dalliance...? As we waited outside for the rest of our party, a server came out to rehash with the bouncer. As we stood there. Keep it classy, Rye. I fully support fire safety adherence and perhaps these gentlemen are more accustomed to drunken combatant idiots being difficult. But we were 100% sober and polite. The Rye staff's obtuse, callus disrespect to (repeat) patrons is amateurish and a sign of a poorly managed business. read more

There is no food on the menu, so it is a great after dinner spot to unwind. We will definitely go back next time we are in Baltimore!
