I came here for the first time in a long time for lunch not too long ago. I would describe it as average. It has a nice and relaxed atmosphere. I ordered a lunch special that was reasonably priced which came with pasta and a salad. It is a nice plus that this place is a BYOB, but they don't really have anything to drink at all. I don't drink soda and couldn't find anything to drink besides water. Service was kinda slow, but our waitress was friendly. We just moved to Narberth and had our first meal at this neighborhood gem. What a wonderful surprise. This restaurant is quiet and unassuming. When you enter it is busy, warm and down to earth. The service was excellent and the food a fantastic surprise. I enjoyed the Rosemary Chicken and Artichoke over Bowtie Pasta. It was savory, fresh and fragrant with herbs. My dinner partners enjoyed their dishes, too- Shrimp with Andouille Sausage, Grilled Wild Striped Bass and a Veal dish. There were many homemade dessert options. We tried a generous portioned Chocolate Mousse cake. Definitely recommend this place and will return to check out the weekend brunch menu! read more

Absolutely love this place!! First stumbled upon it when I was searching for interesting omelet options. We went for the mashed potato omelet. It was phenomenal. This is their jumbo lump crab cake dinner entree with sautéed spinach and old bay mashed potatoes and it was out of this world!! I loved how the crab cakes had huge pieces of crab in it. I come here for lunch frequently, and have hit the brunch a few times as well. I absolutely love their mussels diablo and their roasted beet napolean...both are fantastic. I have tried other things on the menu, such as a very good and satisfying burger and a solid salad, but usually get the same thing every time. Mussels diablo for me and my wife to share, the Beet napolean for myself and whatever she orders. We have never been disappointed, and have been here probably 15-20 times now. That says a lot - as I am very picky about good food and only going to places I really like. This is one of just a handful of places in the suburbs I frequent as a result. The staff was more than accommodating. We had a large party for a birthday and not a beat was skipped. From the arrangements over these phone to having our table ready, uncorking bottles, food service, and overall attentiveness everything was great. Or entire party had such a good time, enjoyed the ambiance, loved the food, and felt very well taken care of for the entirety of the meal. I didn't even request for the staff to bring a piece of cake with a candle for my wife but they were on it and started to help sing happy birthday. This is a great quaint neighborhood establishment with excellent food and an attentive staff. P.S. The ambience inside was decidedly less "fresh" than I was expecting. They really need an update in there. Luckily, it was a beautiful day outside so we sat on the patio at a nice big table under an umbrella. If I lived nearby I would come sit on this patio all the time. My friend and I were passing through around brunch time on a Saturday and we were both in the mood for breakfast. She got this tremendous hash dish with every kind of meat under the sun, topped with perfect fried eggs. I had major food envy when her plate came. I went went with the spinach and smoked gouda omelet and a side of turkey sausage. I wasn't pumped about their homefries, they were more like fried potato chunks which is not what I want in a homefry. The omelet had plenty of fresh spinach that was well-incorporated and not garlicky, which I hate being surprised by, but the omelet itself was pretty overcooked while still managing to leave most of the cheese unmelted. It was edible and not terrible, but it wasn't very exciting. I've had far better omelets. Service was pretty slow and disjointed. My toast took forever to come out and our coffees didn't get refilled. There are probably better options nearby. Total was about $20 for the two of us. read more

Ryan Christopher's (formerly Caviston's) is simply the best restaurant in Narberth. They've got great food, whether it's brunch, lunch, or dinner. Everything on the menu is terrific, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The servers are all nice, and you're likely to end up sitting near your neighbors because it seems like most of Narberth ends up in this adorable BYOB on a regular basis. I know I go there all the time. So check it out next time you're in the neighborhood. FYI - If they have a dessert tray when you go, order one of everything! read more

I went here for breakfast and I have NO idea how this place got such good ratings from other people. I went with two other people and tried their meals.... ....the French toast was similar to homemade French toast, when the person doesn't know how to make French toast. The smoked salmon plate was very boring because none of the "fresh" veggies had much fresh left. Last and probably least I also tried a bacon and cheese omelet that seemed as if all the flavor was sucked out with a vacuum. Then I read the reviews and they were good, so off we went. Well I don't think Ryan Christopher's is that great. Me and my wife got there 5 minutes early for our reservation. It was very busy and the place is quite small. We were there for breakfast once when it was called Caviston's so we knew it was a small spot. There is no hostess area so when you walk in you just find yourself looking around the room for someone, anyone. There were people in black scampering everywhere. We apparently picked the wrong person to talk to and found ourselves standing around for almost 20 minutes. In between she told us we would have the next available table. That was the last we spoke to our black dressed friend as we became invisible, only a floating bottle of wine remained where we once were. After finally sitting down we began the "Meh. I've experienced better." We had the spring rolls as an appetizer and they were ok. The plum sauce that came with it was quite good. I ended up getting the soft shell crabs. I haven't had them in so long that I really couldn't compare them to anything. After eating them I can say that I wouldn't order it again. I just didn't like them. I thought I did at the beginning of the meal but toward the end I just wanted the crabs to become a hamburger. Now the desert kicked some butt...oh wait our waitress. Yeah that's about how much contact we had with her other then her taking our order. A speed walk "How is your meal!" like being shouted out of a moving car was a pleasant treat. Anyway the desert was "bangginn!....yO thAtz wuZ $4$ mY girlZ 4eyEZ! I had the pineapple/coconut cheese cake and it was great. It was light and tasty and the best part of the meal other then trying to figure out how much younger we were then the other patrons. My wife had the turtle cheesecake. My husband & I went last night. What a nice surprise!! We split the hummus dish which came with multigrain pita....excellent! Entrees were the cranberry crusted salmon with sweet potato hash (a must if you like fish). My husband had the grilled veal parmigiana which he thougherly enjoyed. This is the kind of place that you want to have in your neighborhood. Oh wait, we do! We have been here on numerous occasions - with kids and without - and have never been disappointed in the food. The service runs the gamut - but they try. I certainly didn't ever feel deserted, it's just not the quickest dinner (which really, if you are in such a rush, go out for fast food!). It's great that you can BYO - certainly makes this a very affordable meal. Our first time there we chatted it up with the owner-wife as we sat at the bar. She was so proud of the food that she brought us extra stuff from the kitchen just to taste - very endearing. Their pasta dishes are fantastic. We had scallops that were done with an Asian twist that were very memorable. Oh, and the desserts...save room. They are as tasty as the are beautiful. We did not care too much for the key lime pie, as it was too sweet (we are tart key lime pie eaters) - but I will happily try something else next time we are there. This is a great place to bring kids - sitting outside you don't feel like you are infringing on anyone's meal and they were very accommodating. It was meh when it was Caviston's and it's meh with a slightly pricer menu and a new name. It's a very small space. And a BYO. I go because it's close and there are so few breakfast options out this way. We're generally seated in a reasonable amount of time. The food is okay. And the service is okay to not very good. Last time I was here for brunch, our server was completely scattered - too many tables maybe. It took forever to have her take our order, we needed to be reminded about our drinks and when our dishes had been picked up after eating, she came around to ask what we had ordered (for what we assumed would be for check purposes) but then we were served our meal again. This was a particularly bad day there but service has never been stellar. We went for dinner there last week for the very first time. Saturday night and the place was incredibly crowded. We weren't offered a wait - only space at the counter. The kid (a son there?) was awesome. He was chipper and chatty. But there was some definite confusion that night. The servers seemed panicked. We were forgotten for a while and had to flag someone over to order. We split a pear/smoked gouda salad special and the mozarella stack. The mozzarella stack was delicious. The dressing that came with the pear/gouda salad was incredibly balsamic-y and just overpowered the whole thing (and I didn't use it all). I got the pasta with goat cheese. It was solid. Nothing more, nothing less. The goat cheese was overpowering for the dish but I'm a fan of goat cheese so it wasn't a dealbreaker for me. He got the NY strip steak and loved it. We were also sold on the desserts that we saw being shown to other customers while we were sitting there. They're made by Phyllis herself. We were full but there was still space for a few bites of raspberry cheesecake and mint truffle something cake. We boxed up some of our meal and some of the dessert. Verdict: I'll grudgingly go here for breakfast if I want something a bit more restaurant-y than Hymie's. And I'd come back for dinner with a reservation. read more

Really good food, BYO and outside seating. Need I say more? The sweet Thai chili rubbed ribs on special were fantastic. Great flavor and super tender. The pork practically falls off the bone. The chicken Parm was really good. It wasn't fried, which i prefer. I don't know why more places don't prepare it this way. Our table also had two salmon dishes. Both salads. Im not a big fan of cooked salmon, but the fish was cooked perfectly. The sesame crusted one was better than the plain one. I didn't try the burger but it looked delicious. I went here for Sunday brunch, one of my favorite meals. They have a varied menu with options ranging across the typical omelet, french toast, or pancake spectrum. I tried the veggie omelet which has onion, mushroom, spinach, and green peppers. It comes with a side of potatoes and toast. I substituted in the cinnamon roll, which was somewhat disappointing (and not a true substitute as they charged me without saying they would). Not bad, but not what I was hoping for. It's a cool little spot that would be even more cool on a nice day as the outside seating area looks very nice. The service was good, but the food was nothing special. I had a veal special over "pesto" pasta. I put pesto in quotes because it unfortunately wasn't really pesto. I was hoping for a simple pesto sauce, but what I received was closer to a cream sauce than a pesto, and sadly it didn't have much flavor. The veal was topped with mushrooms, peppers and sharp provolone, it was tasty, but the veal was overcooked and therefore pretty tough. I don't live too far from here so I would like to try it again as there were a few other items on the menu I was torn between. I also heard they have an excellent brunch, so would like to give that a shot too. read more

Just had dinner at Ryan Christopher's for the first time. It was fantastic! I loved the family atmosphere; all of the staff members were super friendly and very attentive. First, we were served bread and pesto for dipping. I normally avoid bread, but I needed a"vehicle" for the delicious pesto. Next, my friend and I got the Sea Bass Special and we ate every last bite. It was served on a bed of spinach with kalamata olives, tomatoes & artichoke hearts. It was light and flavorful without being too garlic-heavy like some places. Another friend ordered a pasta and vegetable entree and she said it was also really good. We ended our meal with a few desserts. They were good, but the Snickers Pie is incredible! I don't like to give negative reviews of restaurants but in this case I have to. I will start with the service, or lack of, we were seated upon arrival them given water and menus. Them we waited 20 minutes for our waitress, she took our order and we asked for wine glasses and more water then waited another 20 minutes when she came back with the salads and said it was the busboys fault that the glasses and water didn't arrive. It took 10 more minutes for a different waitress to bring the items over. 15 more minutes until our waitress came back to check on the table next to us and ignore us. 15 more minutes she came to check on us and clear the salad plates with the request for more water, on 7 minutes this time. Rather than continue this detail all I can say it it took almost 2 hours from start to finish for salad, main course and desert. The food was of high quality and plentiful but either lacking flavor or having to much salt. The high point of the meal was the desert, they are all made in house and the piece of mint truffle pie that we shared was well made and flavorful. I am sorry to say that while I will give most places a 2nd chance if the food is borderline in this instance I won't because while the food can improve I doubt the service will. read more

The menu is so varied and the prices so reasonable for the quality of the cuisine that you could come for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and not be too extravagant or ever get tired of the food. I saw some criticism of the atmosphere on Yelp, but I love that the inside is homey and on a warm day the outside is cute and right in Narberth. I have seen several celebrities enjoying meals here repeatedly so apparently the atmosphere is acceptable to the rich and famous. BYOB's are making the Philadelphia dining scene something special and Narberth is a wonderful hub in BYOB scene. Craig Leban even rates a BYOB the top restaurant in the Philadelphia region. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is located in a residential neighborhood, so only street parking is available. Kitchen closes at 2:00 on Sundays. Four of us came here last night for dinner. Everyone at my table agreed this was one of the most enjoyable meals we've had in a while. I had the steak and bleu cheese salad which was perfect (the grilled red onions were a nice touch). I sampled each of my 3 compadres' meals: chicken and shrimp picatta, an Asian pork tenderloin special, and an Ahi tuna special. All were delicious as well! I took off a star because the dessert (which was touted as the "best on the Main Line") was nothing to write home about. It was described as a brownie topped with a layer of peanut butter mousse topping, but the brownie was dry and not chocolaty at all, and the mousse just wasn't very peanut buttery. Also, the top whipped cream layer tasted like mint for some reason. Service was very good but we had to keep asking for water refills, which always annoys me. People call in advance and reserve. They actually ran out while we were there. Well prepared, delicious food. The only think I though was odd was that towards the end of our meal the owner sat at a nearby table and had her phone on and was obviously watching a video and/or listening to a song. At full volume. We could hear it at our table. I found this rude and I was very surprised that she didn't turn the volume down so that it couldn't be heard in the dining room.
