In December 2023, the bar came under new management & there have been a lot of upgrades since then. Street parking & a small bar lot. Parking is limited... which brings me to a gentle warning: If you are going to the river for a day trip, I do not recommend parking here and leaving the bar. People get towed. The patrons of the bar are mostly regulars/locals who have developed a relationship with the bar staff, & they have an idea of whose cars are whose. I would not play that game of parking your car here and going to the river. That said, if you're coming back from the river and looking for a place to eat, I'd definitely park it here.

Everything we've order has been delicious. Everything is flavorful, well prepared, and served fresh and hot. On nights that they offer seafood or other "special" items it's a limited amount so they'll run out of some things pretty early. Get there for an early dinner if you can. Service is a little hit and miss. We've been in on days that our server was amazing and super friendly and other days that a server barely glanced our direction and never even came to our table. I think a couple of them really focus on their known regulars and less on people they don't immediately recognize. It's a very small dining area with limited seating but there are a few tables outside in a covered area as well. Several video poker machines are available if that's your thing. There's lots of parking, just be careful on your stroll to the door along Hwy 224. Cars are moving fast and focused on making the light more than where you might be walking on the side of the road. It's even a little more sketchy when the summer rafter start hitting the area. Overall, excellent food can be found here and is totally worth checking out. They also have a Facebook page, that I just discovered, that highlights their food offering from day to day. Give it a try!

One of the few restaurants I would recommend to others and even fewer that I go back to regularly…read more La Costita feels like an authentic Mexican restaurant that sets itself apart from your typical run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants by offering its own specialty dishes and unique takes on classic favorites while still serving familiar options for those of us who may be a little less adventurous. Although the wait can be long at times, the staff are always friendly and communicative. I've visited many times and have never had any issues. The Tacos Tijuana are a perfect example of just how good the food is--extremely simple, yet balanced and delicious. The shrimp in the Surf & Turf is some of the best I've ever had. I even enjoyed it reheated, which says a lot. The Enchiladas Mexico are excellent on their own and an even better way to enjoy the many sauces La Costita has to offer. The Burrito Costita Especial looks just as good as it tastes and is my personal favorite entrée. Last but not least are the Taquitos. They're something special and have kept me coming back for years. I seriously cannot recommend them enough--they're unlike any taquitos you've ever seen or had.
