Loyal patrons for the last at least 30 years. There was a short period where service was lacking but we've always enjoyed the food and ambiance. We celebrated a birthday last night and originally reserved Signature Steakhouse but decided to dine here instead. We had the absolute best experience with Mel and Chris. Although there were quite a bit of large parties at the same seating hour, we never felt forgotten about and everything came out with perfect timing. Table service felt genuine and not robotic. We never had to ask for anything, refills were always given, finished dishes were removed almost immediately, etc. It seems a bit comical to praise these simple gestures but the higher end establishments seem to lack this nowadays. They still do have a "special Course' from 4-6pm which you can upgrade pretty much anything on there. I upgraded my Salad, my parents upgraded their steaks to ribeyes but I kept my choice of Petite filet with shrimp. My Husband ordered the ala carte Lamb which he said was one of the best he's ever tasted. All of the Employees that came in contact with our table acknowledged our occasion. They really went above and beyond to make the dinner feel special. We will definitely be back sooner. SIDE NOTE: Restaurant Row has switched their parking to Metropolis! I've never had a good experience with them but it seems a lot of businesses are switched to them instead of paper tickets (ex. SALT KAKA'AKO) It does read your license plate but you do need a smart phone to set up an account and RC does validate for 3 1/2 hours. Last night we witnessed a lot of elderly patrons have a hard time exiting the structure bc the camera wasn't reading their plate and they didn't have call reception to text the gate to open. This has nothing to do with RC but it is something to just keep in mind. read more

Went here for a small kine celebration and it did not disappoint. First off - Restaurant Row is pretty much "dead" at night and you may think the area outside the restaurant is disappointing and sad. But once inside it's an entirely different story. There were a ton of people inside enjoying their meals. This place was enjoying a good amount of business and that's great to see. Ok, onto the food. There is a prix fixe Happy Hour special that provides the greatest value. You choose your soup or salad, then your filet with shrimp or lobster, then your one side and then a dessert in the end. You may choose some objects to upsize such as a different side or a different dessert but the cost to do so is so small and so worth it. So if you are looking for a great deal, this is the way to go. One person in our party chose that route and she said the food was great....albeit a little too much of butter on the steak as well as in the garlic mash (see pic). The other people in the party chose ala carte for their meals and both cuts of steaks were cooked perfectly. I had my ribeye not finished with butter and they were able to accommodate. Their sides also did not disappoint and were more than enough to be shared. Our server tonight was Daniel and he was great. He offered insights and suggestions for the menu and helped guide us into the costs to upscale parts of the Happy Hour selection. Everyone for the matter provided great service to us. Water glass never went dry and they had the cleanest tasting water ever. I digress....lol. The cost of the meal, compared to the quality and taste of the food, in addition the service and attention given makes Ruth's Chris a great value for your money. It's been awhile since we went to Ruth's Chris steeakhouse, decided to go for a belated Father's Day celebration and happy hour. Got seated in the front by the bar so that we could get some happy hour items. HH BBQ shrimp $18 came with a ton of shrimps compared to before, if I knew it had so many I probably would not have ordered the calamari. It's served with bread now, no more mashed potatoes. HH calamari $16, asked for the sauce on the side. HH Cabernet $10 We ordered the Ruth's Classic, includes a starter, entrée, a personal side & dessert nightly 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Now they only have the 6 oz filet with shrimp ($70) or with lobster ($80) on the menu but you can upgrade the meat to 16 oz ribeye with lobster ($110) or the cowboy ribeye with lobster ($116). The lobsters were so sweet and delicious with the butter, first time having the lobster there. You can also upgrade the side dish to baked potato for $5. Celebrated our friend's birthday at our favorite Steakhouse, Ruth's Chris Honolulu ( Restaurant Row). Located along Ala Moana Blvd. Excellent service from the front of the house to the back. Our server and her helpers did a great job of taking care of us. Everyone ordered their favorites from the Cowboy Ribeyes to the Stuffed Chicken Breast and don't forget those wonderful sides. We ordered French Fries, Asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, and Baked Potatoes (fully loaded of course). All the entrees were served on their signature sizzling butter plates. All expertly prepared and delicious. One of the best is their Stuffed Chicken Breast. Crispy on the outside moist and tender inside and that cheese stuffing takes it to another level . The birthday girl got complimentary champagne and the Famous Flaming Strawberries in Chocolate Sauce very tasty. Last night we got to sit in one of the private rooms. We were able to order their early bird special where it comes with a starter, entree and dessert. I got a Caesar salad as my starter and it was a classic Caesar salad that was pretty good. I tried my boyfriend's seafood gumbo and I liked that too. Everyone in our party got the steak and lobster and I really enjoyed that! Both the steak and lobster were cooked perfectly. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Ruth's Chris Steak House, and the experience was truly special from start to finish. When I made the reservation, I noted that we were celebrating our anniversary, and the restaurant went above and beyond to acknowledge it. Upon arrival, we were led to a table beautifully adorned with rose petals, and every staff member who passed by took a moment to wish us a happy anniversary. Shortly after being seated, we were also treated to two complimentary glasses of champagne, which set a perfectly celebratory tone for the evening. The winter menu was outstanding. I ordered the tenderloin with a jumbo lobster tail, both cooked to perfection. My husband was very happy with his New York strip, and we also shared an entrée of scallops--because we never pass up the opportunity to enjoy fantastic scallops, and these did not disappoint. Although we were far too full for dessert, the team surprised us with flaming strawberries, served with dark chocolate and raspberry sauce, to help us celebrate--an unforgettable and thoughtful finish. Overall, the service, food, and attention to detail were exceptional. My only suggestion would be to slightly increase the music volume in the dining room. While the restroom music was quite loud, it was barely noticeable in the dining area, and a bit more ambiance would have helped drown out nearby conversations. I swore off Ruth's Chris Steak House but here I am. Sadly, this time it wasn't much better than the last We started with crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. I didn't taste any crabmeat stuffing in the mushrooms... perhaps because the garlic in the stuffing was so overpowering I could not eat it. Instead I took out the stuffing and ate only the mushroom. For our entree he ordered a Ribeye and I had the 8 oz Petite Filet. His steak was good but a little over cooked even though he ordered a medium rare. I ordered a medium Petite Filet and it was under cooked... more like rare - medium rare. Maybe the kitchen mixed up our steak doneness.. I don't know but I did bring it up to the manager when he asked how our meal was going. Since we were celebrating a birthday they brought a complementary Strawberry flambé. Very nice touch and so nice to look at then it's flaming BUT they use so much alcohol that you cannot avoid it when eating the strawberries. Very strong liquor flavor so it's hard to eat if you are not a drinker. Service was okay. Also, even though I was not happy with previous visits, I consider Ruth's Chris a better restaurant... perhaps if you served your food on a cleaner plate it will give a little classier feel rather than on the same level as Zippy's. We planned our wedding reception dinner for the past year. Traci was incredible to work with for the planning process. We treated our guests to the Premiere dinner for 20 people. The private room was cozy and great for large gatherings. We had our appetizers and sides served family style. The shrimp cocktail was amazing and the shrimp were large and cook perfectly! We also had a choice of steakhouse salad or Caesar salad. The crab stuffed mushrooms were tasty and delicious! The sides were broccoli, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes and all were wonderful. It's been a while since I had come to this steakhouse, but I'm not sure why we ever stopped! Our server Mel was amazing and friendly. She offered us complimentary champagne and a strawberry dessert dish to celebrate, which we really appreciated. We both had the pre fixe menu which comes with an appetizer, entree, side and dessert. We enjoyed our food! Steak was cooked great, lobster too. Salad was generous and sides were tasty. We learned that my friend is not a fan of creamed spinach (lol) but I enjoyed it. Today 8/24/25 my daughter's 26th birthday. We decided to order takeout from Ruth's Chris steak house. We ordered 3 ribeye steaks , 3 potatoes au gratin, and 3 sweet potato casserole. I go to Ruth's Chris pretty often--both in Waikiki and Downtown--and the servers are always friendly and attentive, which makes every visit pleasant. That said, the steak can be a real gamble. Sometimes it's absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavor, but other times it's just disappointing. The inconsistency is a bit frustrating, especially for a place with such a reputation. If you hit it right, it's amazing; if not, it feels like a waste. I was contacted by someone from corporate who assured me they did an investigation and there wasn't a wide spread outbreak of food borne pathogens. The service I received on my visits was very positive, and the response by corporate was satisfactory. I'll be giving them another shot soon. This was my first and likely last visit to Ruth's Chris. To give credit where it's due, the ambience and service were good, and the food tasted great at the table. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Before I proceed, please understand, I really don't like leaving negative reviews unless absolutely necessary. But, here we go... I dined here for dinner with friends on December 23rd. We shared the shrimp dinner as an entrée, I ordered the cowboy ribeye cooked medium rare, and my friend ordered the ribeye, also medium rare -- a completely standard order at any steakhouse. By 2:15am, I was extremely sick with what was clearly food poisoning. My friend also became sick. I spent the entire night dealing with severe stomach issues, missed a day of work, and had a ruined Christmas Eve and a rough Christmas morning. I called the restaurant on 12/24 and spoke with a manager, who later called me back and assured me that someone from corporate would be contacting me. It has now been one week, and there has been no follow-up whatsoever. I've also noticed a recent pattern of 1-star reviews, which makes me question whether this is an issue with this particular location or something broader -- either way, it's not a good look for the brand. For a restaurant at this price point -- where you're spending hundreds of dollars -- both the food safety issue and lack of accountability are unacceptable. For the money spent, I would have been far better off at Hy's, Eating House, Wolfgang's, or honestly almost anywhere else. This is one of our favorite steakhouses on the island. The steaks are always cooked to our specifications, and the service is on point without being too stuffy. We always order the ribeye medium-rare. The steak here is served with a LOT of butter. Just FYI, in case that's not to your liking. It's juicy, hot, and perfectly cooked. I love the lobster mac and cheese as a side, as well as the fries. We got the creamed spinach last time, which was nice but not my favorite. For apps, we got the calamari, which was really good too. For cocktails, I always get my go-to martini, gin & dirty (with olives). They make a STRONG one here. Which is perfect for me! The service was excellent, and our server was very attentive. The steaks were taking a little longer than usual last time, but we had appetizers and drinks to tide us over. I ordered the 16 oz Ribeye with shrimp and mashed potatoes and my wife ordered the sea bass with asparagus. We thoroughly enjoyed each dish. The creme brulee at the end was also very good. I took my daughter here for a mommy daughter date. Which happened to be on Thanksgiving. So that we didn't have to cook. I made a reservation through open table app. This location has garage parking behind the building. I parked in the garage. Make sure to take your ticket for validated parking stamp. Of course it was packed due to holiday. I checked in and went back to my car. Until they called my cellphone to say the table was ready. They didn't have a seating area big enough for how many people were waiting to be seated. I'm not sure if they had reservations or walk in. I highly suggest make a reservation for here. It was very nice and elegant. Surprisingly not super loud based on how much people was there. Both waiters were nice and funny. We joked throughout the night. They did tell me the sides were shareable. As you can see they were right. I ordered the Steak and Mac and Cheese. You can't come here without getting steak. The menu has changed since my last visit, renaming the Early Bird to Pre-Fix, and adding a few new items, such as Seafood Gumbo. I liked the Seafood Gumbo, as well as Lobster & Filet Mignon. We ate here on 01/21/2025 with a party of nine people. It is conveniently located near the waterfront on the very Western end of the primary part of the tourist area. Parking is convenient, and it is a set rate in a underground garage after 5pm. The service was so good, and our server was absolutely great. The dining room appeared a little bit dated; however, the food and service made up for that. I had the filet, cooked medium well, and it was done wonderfully, cooking the remainder of the way on the 500 degree plate with butter. I got the blue cheese crust on the filet. Our table shared quite a few sides including the lobster mac n cheese, which was amazing, as well as the au gratin potatoes and broccoli. I even shared some bread pudding for dessert. Of course, I can't forgot the two awesome mango mules that I had, as well as my portion of the Seafood tower which quickly went between our Party of Nine. Our annual go to anniversary treat will always be Ruth Chris steakhouse; it's a tradition. We enjoy other steak houses on our island but this restaurant is our Ho yo when we crave a sizzling juicy steak and my favorite creamed spinach. It's definitely old school fine steak house style with dark tones, candle lit tables and rose petals that signifies it's our special day. And we always look forward to our flaming chocolate strawberries at the end of a perfect meal. Planned a great Anniversary dinner with wife tonight. Food was fantastic! Each Steak was cooked to perfection mine medium rare, hers way dead, LOL. I love their remoulade sauce, cream spinach and crème brulee. They added a nice touch with sparkling wine and strawberries flambeau. Service was attentive, respectful, not intrusive, as expected. Would give 3.5 stars if I could because although a nice booth was provided, we were so close to table next to us, I felt like we were joining them. Not comfortable. Didn't complain since it appeared they were over booked and couldn't accommodate a table change. Then the parade started. Wait help, bus help and patrons all used the small space between our booth and that table as the thoroughfare. Trays over our heads, traffic from service stations in front and back of us. They must have had to reconfigure the room to accommodate the big parties. As a result, no accommodation to us. Just constant traffic back and forth. We came here as a family to celebrate a birthday. I made reservations through open table and it was easy. We arriving, we were greeted by the hostess and they made sure our parking was validated. Our waiter was very informative as it was our visit time dining. Our food came out and was very delicious. The kids ordered through their kids menu and loved their steak as well. 3/4 of us were done eating but my little one was still eating, one of the waiters helper took all of our plates, to include my little one's plate who was still eating and had a fork in her hand, with a good amount of food still on the plate. It was a bit disappointing, and she was sad. Maybe he was a new employee, but I'd suggest eye contact and asking before just taking. Everything else was good, it was nice for us to get dressed nicely and go out to eat. Our kids were the only ones besides the one that reserved a whole private room. I went to dinner tonite and I was COMPELLED to write a review. Our server was lovely, almost a full house so I was really happy for them. Food... was beyond salty. I had a dish with risotto which was so salty I drank 6+ glasses of water. It happens, just let them know and no problem. The issue was... while we were ending our meal a male waiter LOUDLY snapped his towel at the rear side of the hostess girl. In front of diners near the service door to the kitchen. The hostess gave him a look and pointing finger but the waiter continued on his way like he was entitled and it was nothing. I was APPALLED as well as the rest of my table. We all said how that would never be allowed anywhere else. On our way out I contemplated talking to a manager (no where in site) but if he was so brazen to do such a thing in view of customers... who knows what else has been allowed/ignored. We got the nice quiet booth in the back we requested. Carlson was an excellent server and made sure we were well taken care of despite being busy and a large party as well. Informed us of the special menu, have some good suggestions and pointers. Very professional and fun without being obtrusive. Special menu today but we stuck with what we knew- Mimosa was on point, crab stuffed mushrooms with lotsa crab, Caesar salad had a little too much dressing this time but we managed, ravioli, and the chocolate cake with ice cream was the star of the day! Carlson brought a complimentary strawberries flambé for dessert which we loved and warned us not to blow out the flame lol which I might have done- he was just a delightful server and his busser made sure our plates were cleared and waters refilled. Upon leaving, the hostess opened the door for us and thanked us asking us to have a nice rest of our day. That hasn't happened in a long time at any other restaurant. We stopped here for some drinks before my friend had to board her ship before it leaves for the next island. We all did 2 drinks each and I ended up getting a seafood tower also to enjoy. Service was great and the seafood was fresh as always. We didn't have much time to enjoy anything else because we had to drop her off and was on a time limit. I'll be back next time for my favorite Stuffed Chicken Breast with Creamed Spinach and Mash. read more

It's Ruth Chris- a steakhouse and more, right in the heart of downtown near the waterfront. Always available for parties (large and small) and welcoming to all. This restaurant offers dine in as well as take out options. We ordered full meals that included shrimp or lobster with a nice steak, salad and dessert too.
