Bone-in NY strip
Shannon G.

Love! Went here for a birthday dinner. Each dish came out so hot. Steak flavor was amazing. Ever had a steak cooked on a flat grill with no flavor? Not here! I love longhorn's ribeye so I got a ribeye here. I think my husband got a bone-in NY strip. We ordered the au gratin potatoes and sprouts for our sides (served fam style). We also had the crabcakes as an appetizer. The bread is good - hot and soft. We had a small carrot cake for dessert. The service was excellent. Perfect date night place.

We came for Restaurant Week to experience the 3-course meal option. The food was great. I noticed other guests where asked if they wanted their coats hung up, while we were not asked. We sat at a booth with our coats stuffed in the seats, unknowing this option was available since this was the first time visiting. Our server Dom seemed like a sincerely nice guy and wants to make sure you feel welcome. However, he was a bit too much at times with the excessive checking back even interrupting a convo to ask if everything is okay. That would've been fine if he didn't just ask 2 minutes ago, and we only had drinks so there wasn't anything to really check on at that point lol. Then after all the checking he did, the order came out incorrect. We ordered the stuff chicken, steak and shrimp. We were served 2 stuff chicken orders and steak with no shrimp. The error was quickly resolved, but I would think it wouldn't be an issue after all the confirmations he received. He also proceeded to want to read the entire menu to us when I said that wasn't necessary since we already knew what we wanted. Again, very nice guy, but I think he could tone it down a touch or two. Overall, it was a nice meal and I would come again.

The last time I was at Ruth Chris was over 20 years ago in Los Angeles. I had an opportunity to go and celebrate a colleagues 30 year retirement dinner at her favorite restaurant. The waiter was very thorough and gave me the exact options I needed to hear for my meal. I had the lettuce wedge salad and it was ok. This specific salad had more of a creamy blue cheese dressing than the actual crumble blue cheese in it. It was lacking a lot of the flavor I was hoping to enjoy. For my main course I ordered the ribeye medium plus 1 and it was grilled perfectly with a loaded baked potato as my side dish. I really enjoyed my steak. For dessert I had the crème brûlée, which is my favorite dessert. It was ok, I've had better in the past and was slightly disappointed considering the establishment we were at. If you are looking for a great steak please visit Ruth Chris.

Absolutely Delicious filet mignon and shrimp seasoned & cooked to perfection! The server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance beautiful, classy yet very calming. Loved this location!

Everything was delicious and I can still smell the butter. Phenomenal service from Roger. He was very entertaining and professional at the same time.

We came here for our anniversary. Overall a good experience. They do not have a valet service on a Saturday night in Uptown Charlotte. I would expect a restaurant at this price point to have valet, especially located in the middle of a downtown area and on a Saturday. They also don't validate. When you check in on Yelp you are offered the Classic 3 course menu for 49.99. This location doesn't honor it. They just tell you "corporate sends it down and we're a franchise so we don't honor it". It was a nice dinner and a good experience. Food was tasty.

Came here for an early birthday dinner, and really enjoyed it. Friendly attentive service from the front to the back of the house. Our server Joe was great. Everything ordered: steak, crab cakes, sides, cocktails were delicious and well made. Honestly, the steak was the best I've had. I look forward to returning.

Located inside an old chair, this place was amazing! Cool,…read morecasual yet elegant, service was outstanding and the food was really delicious and fresh. We came for brunch and they almost had to roll us out of there. They passed around oysters, shrimp cocktail and grilled pineapple with honey. Three different food stations: meat, vegetable and shrimp skewers was one; your choice of southern ham (prosciutto basically) or crab cake eggs benedicts was the second one and the third one I don't remember (mostly because I didn't quite make it there). In the middle they had lobster deviled eggs, assorted tea sandwiches and a small section with desserts. Everything was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Yes, it's expensive but so well worth it!! Parking can be an issue but the good thing is, you can walk off a little of everything that you ate so that's a win!

It wasn't worth the price tbh for brunch. I will update my review or make a new one if we go to…read moredinner and maybe that was our mistake. $78 per person from brunch wasn't that great. They barely brought around food like the French toast bites. They kept bringing around oysters and literally no table wanted them that I saw. It wasn't that busy either, tons of empty tables. Instead they held off the arguably best dish of the house: French toast bites. We FINALLY got them at the end of our meal before we left but had to stalk the waiter for them. For $78 there should be way more rotations of the better dishes. Our waiter was great and atmosphere is gorgeous. Playing, food quality and everything was average. The highlight was the poached eggs, eggs Benedict, bacon, potatoes, skewers and everything else was okay. Not better than like Golden Corral or a standard buffet. My opinion is skip the brunch for that price, unless you really like oysters LOL. Also if I had little kids, would never waste money on brunch here.

Two of my personal standouts are the Beetle Juice, which incorporates fresh beet juice, and The Fishbone, which brilliantly highlights their house-made aquavit. We ordered a mix of a lot of things but I will talk about the Oak Burger. Steakhouse Wedge, Truffle Fries & Salmon. Our waitress was overwhelmed and was not new but could use a bit more training on how to share & offer specials to everyone at the table if they are available. The oak burger. Although you appreciate a big burger (especially when it's $20) but you also want to be able to bite it. Just my 2 cents, make it more flat & round instead of thick and round. The flavor was good but because of how it's served, it was really hard to eat when you are dressed up. Even cutting it with a knife wasn't a good option. One of the specials was the Salmon. I was shocked this was served at this restaurant. It was thin with the skin still on it and the skin wasn't even crispy. I've purchased a better piece of salmon FROZEN at Costco! It was a huge disappointment. The drinks were great but when someone orders a drink with a big ice rock, share that you get a pour and a half so there is no question later. The absolute best thing on the menu was the Oak chocolate cake & the Steakhouse wedge salad! I could have ordered 2 wedge salads and cocktails and been fine! I can't say enough about the wedge salad. We also got the Candied beat salad. The 2 of those salads mixed, incredible. I will share that the only reason I gave it 3 stars and not less was the salad and cake. Everything else was average and without a doubt the salmon should be taken off the menu if that's what they plan to serve to guests at that price point.

I came off of a recommendation from a family friend, and they assured me I would have a great experience at any point in time and with any server. Though, They did recommend Victor. And Victor walked me through everything I needed. He anticipated my needs. He answered my questions and he came through with recommendations. The steaks that we ordered were technically proficient, and seasoned with authority, to complement their dry aging process. We ordered the New York and a fillet mignon. Our sides included a baked potato, Caesar salads, and buttered broccoli. I became a little creative and I dragged my fillet mignon through the buttered sauce from the broccoli and I didn't think it could get better than that. When Victor mentioned that we should just buy a bottle of wine, his recommendation was fantastic. We got the bottle of Oberon. All of this to say, we snagged one of the last reservations after 9 PM on a Friday night. And I still received excellent service.

We had a reservation for a Monday dinner on my husband's birthday, which happened to also be 1/2 priced wine day (glasses or bottles up to $40). Maybe it was because of the affordable wine or the World Cup on TV, but the place was surprisingly bumpin'. We came with our toddler, and the staff were super friendly with her. She really enjoyed snacking on the complimentary crackers and cheese spread. My husband and I decided to share the dinner special for 2, which is a 10 oz filet mignon, 2 lobster tails, and 4 sides for $178. A delicious splurge! For our sides, we chose a Caesar salad, cheesy fried potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, and balsamic brussels sprouts. The steak was so tender and savory. Absolutely loved it. Definitely one of the best steaks I've had in the city! After our meal, our server brought a complimentary dessert, a layered mousse cake, served in a martini cake with a candle to celebrate my husband's birthday. Such a nice surprise, and the perfect end to a special family meal. Here's to 70+ more years of BnB in CLT!

Their high end places like Capitol Grill, Seasons 52 and Ruth Chris have declined significantly in the past years. But Eddie V's has been in my list for a while. The steak tartar made at the table, fresh oysters in half shelf were very nicely presented, the meat and the lobster were excellent, free dessert complimentary of the restaurant, and best of all, we did not break the bank. Unfortunately, this Restaurant Week visit was nothing like the Eddie V's I remembered. I dined solo at the bar and actually had to ask for the Restaurant Week menu. I chose the upgraded lobster bisque (+$5) and Chilean sea bass (+$10), looking forward to treating myself. I rarely splurge on a nice dinner, so this was something I had been excited about all day. The food was mixed. The lobster bisque was flavorful, although the amount of lobster was surprisingly small. The mashed potatoes were outstanding, and the asparagus was very good. The Chilean sea bass was cooked well but lacked seasoning and wasn't the memorable entrée I expected. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. The restaurant was less than half full during my visit, so the extended delays were especially surprising. I waited an unusually long time for my entrée while guests who arrived after me were served first. Another surprise was that the only restroom I was directed to required going down to the basement, which was difficult with my mobility issues (I need my knee replaced). I would encourage the restaurant to make it clearer whether there is an accessible restroom available on the main floor, as this could be challenging for many guests. After another long wait for dessert, I asked to have my crème brûlée boxed because the delays meant I would now be walking back to my hotel after dark. I explained that I had intentionally walked there for exercise and had planned to walk back before dark. The response I received was simply, "Just call an Uber." That completely missed the point. I wasn't asking for transportation--I was explaining how the delays had changed my evening. To add to the confusion, I was given two desserts instead of the one I requested. While I appreciate the gesture if it was intended that way, it reinforced the feeling that no one was really listening. What disappointed me most wasn't simply the wait. It was the complete lack of service recovery. No sincere apology, no acknowledgment of how long I'd waited, and no effort to make the experience feel special. I've always thought of Eddie V's as one of Charlotte's premier dining experiences. That's exactly why this visit was so disappointing. I sincerely hope this was an isolated experience because I'd like to remember Eddie V's for the exceptional restaurant it has been in the past.
