I am letting you know the Yelp and Google reviews I am leaving this morning. I have been there on many occasions (at least every other month), sometimes just a random Tuesday, but I will never return to your establishment. I came there for my 50th birthday and was gravely disappointed in the level of service we received. We had over a $1000 tab but received better treatment at a McDonald's. Never ever again. I, the birthday girl, did not eat because we did not get any meats served to us that were not medium or well done (I am black). I prefer my temperature medium-rare. When we sat down, we were asked how the table prefers their meats, and that was all that was served to us. Unacceptable. Other tables got a birthday song and enthusiasm from the servers; we got ignored. But we did get pineapples :{. That was the highlight of my experience. Sorry, you lost a good one. The Price of the full Rodizio and salad and buffet bar are not bad!! My main complaint is that they don't have a solid rotation of the meats going through the room. You have to constantly hit them up about certain meats finding their way back around the room. Also some of the foods on the bar were undercooked ie. the Broccoli. Our server was nice and accommodating for the evening, and explained the different selections perfectly. Once they get that rotation on the meats down, will be a 4 or 5 star. read more

It's sad to say, but Chima has gone down hill significantly over the years. I haven't been here in over 7 years so I'm sure a lot has changed. I just remember when this was considered "fine-ish dining". Or I don't know maybe it wasn't and I just thought that it was in my youth. Came here to celebrate someone's birthday and was underwhelmed. The hostess was not friendly. The restaurant itself was clean but you could see signs that a renovation was much needed, there were cracks in the walls and just old carpet and furniture. Our server was nice and some of the food we had was tasty. There were several bites of meat that were not good. They were either too salty or had zero flavor at all or were dry. The sides they brought out were inedible to me. There was such inconsistency with the food items. The salad bar was okay. Honestly, my salad was probably the best part of the meal. The gentlemen bringing the meat around came every 3 seconds in rapid succession. It was almost overwhelming. But then there were items we had to ask for because some things never made it over to us. It was just odd. I most likely will not return to Chima, but I'm glad I had one last hoorah. read more

Went for my Bday last night and it was Awesome. Fantastic server and the food and food bar was sooooo delicious. The meats were spectacular and all servers were sooooo helpful and sweet. I appreciate that you took us on at last-min request, but you didn't specifically consider us when taking on this contract. On day of event (my birthday, so it couldn't stay, but used my Bank card to secure) I stopped in to see our setup and meet the event manager I had been working with, but she was not available. I didn't think the meat platter was enough so wanted to order a 2nd platter. 20-mins later someone comes out to chat with me. Mind you, its my birthday and I am now running late for my personal reservations. Now, all that aside, I get the bill. I'm good with the food, because it had been agreed on prior to the event. Its the bar bill I am concerned with (over $700 for less than 30 people / during Happy Hour). I call the Event manager to discuss and she does acknowledge we were overcharged for some drinks and she would review with their manager, put together a reconciled invoice and get back to me. Six weeks of me reaching out (constantly thru emails and voicemails), with no response, no reconciled invoice and no call back, this week I get an ~$75 credit to my corp card. No discussion of what it's for, no review of what we were overcharged for or what we were credited for. It's not my money and I understand that. And I know my company can afford it, but to take advantage of and have little regard of your constant customers is disgusting. Elena even had the nerve to tell me to let her know when I'm working with a "budget" so that the bar can know when to cut my guests off. This was my first experience and TLDR: good food but not worth the price Context: I got to the restaurant at 6:30 so I was one of the first people to arrive so I was able to try the food when it was freshly out and few people had touched the bar. The positives- the restaurant is very elegant, the service is great, and most of the food is delicious. I love the options on the salad bar, they have many thinly sliced meat and cheeses for charcuterie, tiny cornichons, a couple soups, a beet and orange salad, mozzarella slices, orzo pasta, various dipping sauces for the meats, different cooked veggies. among other things that are placed in the center of the restaurant. The presentation was very pretty for a buffet and the food was all good- no complaints really. they bring little appetizers to your table like these small cheesy potato breads with a creamy turkey spread- I found these delicious because of its similarity to a Japanese mochi texture and the subtle cheesy flavor but this type of chewiness in bread is not preferred by everyone. They also brought polenta fries that were thick cut with a nice crisp on the outside. And they brought fried plantains to the table that I really enjoyed. The servers also brought around halloumi twice and grilled cinnamon crusted pineapple 3 times- these were fantastic. Negatives: the meat was good and I thought the shrimp and the Cajun steak were really good. They had other meats like chicken, bacon wrapped *insert meat*, ribs, among other things. BUT to parrot other people's reviews- they don't bring around the higher quality meats often. when we first sat down it was like a rapid fire serving of all of the meats in maybe a 15-20 minute time frame and then it was almost dead silent after and we sat for at least half of the dinner service kind of just looking around and waiting for the next round of servers to come around with more meat options and when you're offered shrimp and bacon wrapped meat 6x but only offered the better cuts maybe 2x it is a bit disappointing when you're paying so much money. the total bill for 3 people was $240. It's somewhere around $65-70 per person and then there's drinks and tip. My mom got one Moscow mule, and me and my partner got the non alcoholic Brazilian soda. Overall- we left full and no one had any real complaints about anything because the food was good- but it's not extraordinary or super memorable in any way. For the price that you end up paying, especially after tip, and for the meats you get served- I don't know if I'll return. I think this is more like a $50 per person experience at best. All the food was very good but I feel like they rush you. I barely sat down and got my salad and they were throwing stuff onto my plate and I wasn't even eating meat, I was eating fish. I would like to say first that before I submitted my review, I did reach out to Chimas to attempt to remedy these issues. My information was taken and I was told I would receive a call back from the GM. That call did not come. The food was good, the ambiance was nice. But I paid extra for what I was told would be the full experience. We watched as most cuts passed us by and never came back around. The large party near by was constantly offered different cuts of meat that somehow never made it to our table. I paid over $350 for a dinner for two and felt mostly forgotten about. During our two hour visit our waitress was only able to get to us twice for drinks before we were tired of waiting for meat that obviously wasn't coming. As if this wasn't disappointing enough, it was also advertised with our package that we could choose any dessert. When that time came we were informed that only a few options were available for us. I absolutely will not be going back as I feel completely cheated. I hope others have a better experience. Valentines dinner was a bust. read more

Avoid! - After a week, we found the Charlotte Chima Steakhouse Booked. We visited a Chima Steakhouse location in Orlando and were truly blown away at the quality and tremendous service. We were determined to make it in and made our Saturday 8 PM Reservation nearly 1 week prior. We arrived on time and found the scene violent and simply out of control. Those seeking to Dine at this restaurant were an eclectic bunch of unsophisticated and enthusiastic opportunists. Upon arrival, we checked in and quickly determined we would not be seated. You can say the restaurant was overbooked, but the reality is that the restaurant staff truly underestimated the determination of the crowd. Patrons arrived, paid their entry fee, and were determined to get what they paid for. Our first assessment was that the salad bar had been ravaged and was not being repleted. I suspect the gauchos were overwhelmed by the hungry diners and simply fled. Not a gaucho could be seen on site. This location was utterly overwhelmed with hungry maniacs. The pimp, wearing the red cowboy hat, yelling at the poor hostess was the straw that broke the camel's back. We decided to retreat gracefully. The wounded hostess assured us we would not be charged the $50.00 USD Credit Card Booking fee. The madness spilled out into the street as we attempted to flee the location. Never again! Ahh Chima. Been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Maybe it's the carnivore in me. But there's something about chowing down in a beautiful, date night setting with great ambiance, friendly servers and a diverse crowd of Charlotte's finest. And the food never disappoints. I think the salad/hot bar could use a few more options but what they have is great. And the rodizio style meats is full of goodness. My favorites are the leg of lamb and the picanha. The flavor and the seasonings on these are out of this world. Really everything is, including their drink/wine menu. The only downside is that you can't take the rodizio home with you and you always wake up the next day wishing you had eaten more even though you could barely fit through the door when you left. read more

This is easily one of my favorite places to eat for literally any reason I can come up with. You definitely need a "plan" to get your money's worth so take my word... save yourself for their sirloin steak and grilled pineapple bc you can eat chicken or bread rolls at home. We went for my brother in laws 47th birthday. We have never been but took the advice of a few friends. We were not disappointed everything was amazing. We were greeted and escorted to our table. Everyone was kind and helpful. We started with the salad bar and moved into the Meat selection. It's a Brazilian steakhouse so once you flip the food chip over, the food starts arriving. Every single cut was above and beyond. They had a habanero seasoned cut of ribeye that was really good and is one of my go to cuts. I had a few slices of that and a few slices of the cinnamon pineapple to top it off. For dessert, I had the best crème brûlée I've ever had. It was creamy and not firm. The sugar crust was even and not over heated. It was topped with passionfruit that had also been melted into the sugar crust. It was absolutely amazing and as I said the best I've ever had. The quality of the service and meal made the price more than reasonable. I will absolutely be going back. read more

I was really disappointed by the Charlotte Chima's. I've been to the one in Tyson's corner in the past and found it really well run, great service, and delicious food. The Charlotte one however is the opposite. This location suffers greatly from a management perspective. They really overbook reservations - we had a reservation for six and didn't get seated til seven. And we weren't the only ones this happened to. There was a line up the stairs at one point of people waiting for their tables for a long long time when they also had reservations. While the servers and bartenders were nice, service was extremely slow as they were severely understaffed. Not the servers fault, again it's managements problem, but it didn't make for a pleasant dining experience. One server shouldn't have to cover dozens of tables and management should have planned the work schedule better. And lastly, the food was severely overcooked and some of it just plain tasteless. It was also so loud in this restaurant. This Charlotte location is not worth going to - pick somewhere else for your dinner. If you're ever in Tyson's Corner, I'd recommend that location, but def skip this location. read more

Chima Brazilian steakhouse in uptown charlotte! People always ask for recommendations for their birthday dinners, this is where I had mine. They have an upstairs and downstairs area. There's a bar upstairs where you can drink before they call your name. If you've ever been to a Brazilian steakhouse, they all work the same. There's an orange side and a black side. The orange side means yes, please keep the food coming and The black side means no thank you I need a break! They have a variety of meats. Whether it's steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon, etc. If you go on the website, they have a list. The pineapple is really good. I think my favorite was the lamb and the Cajun steak. Overall No complaints. I will say they can be more organized as far as making reservations. We had to wait almost an hour after our reservation time. They did comp my meal and gave a percentage off of the table so I am appreciative of that. But it did take away from how much we could eat because they were closing. Just like most of these places in charlotte, this is more of an experience. Something fun to experience on your bday! read more

If I'm being honest, I thought overall the experience was just okay and the food quality is not as good as Chima once was. While we sat at the bar, I thought the service was okay. Sometimes I feel like the bartenders get so caught up in making drinks for tables that they get lost and forget the customers sitting at the bar. My food was brought out but took a little before I received silverware to eat with. The burger was just okay in my opinion. I got it cooked medium but it was slightly dry. The sautéed onions and sauce definitely helped the flavor though. However next time I'd just try something else like a pastel instead. Once our table was ready, our server was very helpful and attentive. The food was a little over salted and not worth the price you pay truthfully. I know in Brazilian culture, lots of salt is used during churrascos but on top of the salt quantity, most of the meats were slightly overcooked. We were grateful our server continued to check on if we received the cuts of meat we wanted. At one point it felt like they try to fill you up on the lesser quality meats and barely come around with the more expensive choices. Meanwhile we observed them going to specific tables with the better quality meat and seafood before going back to the back. It took at least 15 mins before they came around with salmon and lamb chops. Our server inquired 3 times about our requests before it was brought over. Lastly while this doesn't have anything to do with the food, it was a slight turn off when I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The soap dispenser is located just above the trash bin. Well the bin was overflowing both in men's and women's with paper towels. So much that it you could barely reach over to get soap. read more

Chima's used to be a go to option for any occasion/celebration. Any time before 2021/2022. At this point we have decided to stop including Chima on our potential options for a few reasons. Inconsistency with the meat/seasoning. Now understanding this style of service/ restaurant there is a reasonable variance of inconsistency. But it has gotten worse and worse each time we have came. With either extremely salty or none at all. In the past the service used to be excellent and very transparent (and we would over look the food because the service represented an upscale restaurant). However time and time again the service from this fine dining restaurant is going down hill. In standard, hot appetizers that are served to The table are mashed potatoes, plantains, yucca fries, Brazilian cheese bread, turkey spread, polenta. Upon arrival, I asked my server for additional cheese bread/spread and potatoes. We went 35 minutes with only polenta on the table. 4 trays of bread came out for tables that were sat after us. And after 25 minutes we got potatoes. Never received yucca fries or the plantains. Our server was not very attentive until the FOH manager started speaking with our table. After that I became more vocal on the requests our table needed (more water, cleared plates, and please send food our way) I could sense the attitude from our server. This experience was the tipping point for us. Between begging for food to be sent over and pleading for water, it left a negative experience for us. Not to mention being sold on a "drink special" that was $33. It was described as a banana drink with a floater shot. When it was brought out, it was two inconsistent shots one was completely full, the other was half full, then our drink. Then when we mentioned it, the server blamed the bar tenders. Our table gave up on the server, we left the restaurant, and grabbed food from somewhere else, and celebrated our birthday elsewhere. read more

After a long anticipated wait, we have finally tried Chima! I was absolutely blown away! The whole set up of this restaurant is absolutely incredible. Upon seating, you are given a chip that's black on one side and red on the other. If you want whatever is being presented in the dining room, flip your chip over to red, yes! Before you start indulging in the different cuts of meats, you must check out the salad bar! Charcuterie style meats, cheeses, exotic pasta salads, and fruit salads! Soups, rice, sauces! Anything you can think of! I have to say the beef capriccioso and the smoked salmon is my go to at the appetizer bar! Chima is definitely a fun time. If I'm not mistaken I remember a receipt saying about 60 a person. Which is an incredible deal for the amount of food that you get. My favorites were the lamb leg, lamb chop, and Cajun ribeye! Chima gives you an experience like none other. We went on a Saturday night with a party of 20 for a birthday celebration. Even with us being such a large group the service was still pretty reasonable. 3 sides are brought to your table and the other "traditional" sides such as rice, soup, salad is at a bar on the center of the floor. You are given a round "ticket" which tells the waitress/waiter more food please or no thank you (at this time) The drink menu is on a card which you scan the QR code, which is easy to access. The food was pretty good, my only draw back is that we were sitting right under what felt like the vent so it was cold and our food got cold pretty quickly. But all other things considered it was still a nice experience everyone should try and I'll return for sure. read more

Amazing! Do you want a cool experience? Do you want delicious red meat? Do you want delicious drinks? Yes, yes, and yes! One thing to note is this restaurant does not accept walk ins. You must make a reservation online or by calling in ahead of time. Because of this we were seated quickly. The salad bar had a good variety of options though I've seen other steakhouses with larger selections. The thing that stood out about chima was the amazing service from all the staff. The meat servers were attentive. They made sure to ask if there was anything else we wanted to eat and then it would be at the table a few minutes later. Salad Bar needs improvement. The Caesar Salad dressing was way too thin. Not enough choices for an upscale restaurant. I prefer my Steak Medium. Everything was over cooked and dry. The bacon wrapped selections was a piece of undercooked fat wrapped around a piece of overcooked steak. We were a party of 5 and we were all very disappointed. Juwan, my server, was very friendly, and Esmeralda, the manager, was attentive and highly active, ensuring every table received excellent service. Christmas family outing at Chima. This was my first time visiting! We had reservations and still waited about 30 minutes to be seated. I've been to several Brazilian style restaurants in other states and countries and this one was underwhelming when it came to the salad bar! My first drink the white sangria tasted like juice. We sent it back and still tasted like juice. When we sat down the service was quick...but after being there for about 40 minutes we noticed the meat service slowed down quite a bit. It's like they never really came back by. We had to ask our server to ask them to come back and honestly they didn't. Get what you want in the first 30 minutes of being seated The dress was casual and ambiance was great, but 3 stars for price $66 per person, slow service, juice alcohol drinks and underwhelming salad bar. Our server was really nice and welcoming. The food itself was really good, especially the meats like the steak. However, when it came to actually receiving the meats, it felt like our table was being skipped on purpose. We were seated directly behind the food bar near the kitchen, yet every time someone came out with fresh meat, they seemed to pass us by. We arrived around 12:30, right when the restaurant opened, and even before it got crowded, we still weren't being served as often as other tables who were getting food regularly. At first, I wondered if it was racial since we're Black, but there were other Black families and friends there who didn't seem to have the same issue, so I don't think that was it. I honestly don't know why we weren't being served. We had to repeatedly call the servers over just to get food. The little circle device they gave us to signal that we wanted food felt useless, they still never came to our table even with the side that says we want to be served was up. My mom asked for shrimp at least five times, but each time they brought it out, they skipped us. She only got shrimp once, even though it was served multiple times to other tables. There were also long stretches, sometimes 10 minutes, where no one brought us any meats at all. I've been here before, and this didn't happen last time, so I don't understand why we were treated like we didn't exist. We weren't rude or disrespectful to anyone, yet we were ignored.
