    Pastéis de Belém

This place is incredible. I ordered 20 Pastéis de Belém for Thanksgiving and they were a hit. I was so grateful that they were open on Thanksgiving morning that I could pick them up. Rui and Maria Lu are the kindest owners. Rui is from Portugal and Maria Lu is from Brazil. I love that they have items from both countries. The Pastéis de Belém that we had was just as good as the ones we had in Portugal. I am shocked by some of these reviews about their rudeness when the owners were two of of the kindest, friendliest people, I had ever met.

I have been to this place so many times and I only have good things to talk about it. I am Brazilian and unfortunately in Charlotte area there aren't many Brazilians restaurants but this bakery is the best place for you to try real Brazilian food. The owner Rui, is Portuguese and his wife Dilma is Brazilian. They make delicious desserts, breads, sandwiches, cakes and they have fresh squeezed orange juice which is a plus. Everything is fresh and most of the food made per order. You should try their coxinha, it is a fried dough with shredded chicken inside, so delicious !! Also they have the best French bread you will ever try!

Nice to have a little bit of Brazil in Charlotte! I was recently in Brazil and this is very authentic. Their pao do queijo (cheese bread) is on point and so was their Coxinha with chicken and cheese, so yummy! Can't wait to try their other breads and pastries!!!

    Two beautiful cakes $3.50 ea.

I got two pretty slices of cake on my first visit which were the almond cake and the chocolate strawberry one. Tasty desserts but not mind blowing. The chocolate strawberry had an odd tasting jam inn between the layers. The almond one was sort of sticky probably due to no refrigeration for the whip. The prices were fair and service was helpful n' friendly.

    My dry Pastel

I was seriously dying to come here. I traveled 2,000 miles for this day! While I enjoyed the juices I must describe what these Brazilians need to do to make this place amazing!! Serve fresh Pastel! My pastel was sitting in that warmer God knows how long and the cheese was dry and cold. The crust was hard too. I ordered a Catupiry with chicken and asked for a freshly fried, they didn't have any. PASTEL NEEDS TO BE FRESH! PASTEL TEM QUE SER FRESCO! Coxinha was ok but would have been better fresh. COXINHAS ARE BETTER FRESH! Brigadeiro did not have enough Condensed milk and the sprinkles were the waxed sugar American type. You can't go cheap on Brigadeiro and beijinhos. Sorry!!!

X-Tudo: Hamburger, egg, cheese, ham, bacon, corn, onion, lettuce, tomato and crispy potato sticks.

Came here for lunch. The burger did not disappoint: bacon, egg, cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce and corn all on a fresh baked French roll. One of the better burgers I've had in Charlotte. Oh, and the sweets are no joke either. The owner was eager to let me sample. Go here. Eat everything.

a chocolate cake covered in caramel

Horrible experience! I ordered a cake from this place for my father's birthday. A vanilla cake with pineapple and Carmel filling. I had my mom pick up the cake for me, because I had to work. My mom takes a picture and sends it to me when she arrives at home. The cake is WRONG! The total opposite of what I ordered. It was a Chocolate and pineapple cake! I called the bakery and spoke with I guess "the manager" and explained to the man that the cake I had placed was not right. He said " well that's fine just come back and "I'll return your money". I could already tell by his tone that he was upset, and did not allow me to get another question in before hanging up so abruptly. So, I leave work to go to the bakery because the cake was $55 dollars. When I get there the man says "Where's the cake? No cake No Money." with a smirk on his face, slightly shrugging his shoulders. He knew that he didn't explain that on the phone, and with COVID, who takes ANYTHING back in???? What was he going to do re-sell it?? Something that everyone should know. Like seriously? This was a waste of time and Money! I am very disappointed in this place with there customer service. I will NEVER AGAIN order anything from this place! This was a cake I relied on for my Father's birthday, which is today. I had to go and look for another cake, and this was a TOTAL inconvenience!!!!

So the concept is very similar to Chima. However, they have the buffet and salad bar. From the buffet, I got the Brazilian cheese bread, spaghetti, a Caesar salad and their potatoes salad. Everything was great except the spaghetti. I'm not a fan. Their meat selections was very good. I was surprised not to see any fish selections. But hey I'm ok with it. The customer service was phenomenal. She was alway on top of things. And very accommodating. For the ambiance. It's nice that I didn't have to dress up., because I really wanted to wear paternity pants with all the food that I was eating. However, my only complaint is the music. For a Saturday night. It being a full house. I can't even hear myself think. And there were 8 ppl at our table. So there wasn't much room for conversations.. but other than that it's great:

One single person bathroom per gender. Food- hardly came our way, we had to ask several times if there was more meat coming. Shrimp came out several times to other tables but not to ours. We had to finally ask if we can have some. We were a table of four and kept getting the scraps - not enough for a table if we all said yes to the option. (Example chicken wings came by- only two wings available on the stick...) One time the meat came by with a long hair / fuzz attached to the meat and with seasonings... Salad bar - the lettuce and basic salad options were gone both times I went up to grab some. Drink service/ water refills were lacking. Had to ask repeatedly. Overall service - not at all the usual friendliness you can expect from a Brazilian establishment. Servers seemed unmotivated - just a sad vibe especially for Valentines weekend. Price- none on the menu. Turned out our "valentines special" rodizio was 60/adult. When I asked what that included - I was told it is because they offered shrimp and veal tonight... Way too expensive for the service and the ambiance. A disappointing birthday dinner. We don't plan to return.

This review is for they CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST that's done on Sundays…read more It is a fairly new thing they are trying and it is a great idea. It is by weight so you serve yourself and then weight the plate to gluons out how much to pay. This is very common in Brazil and I was very excited to come and experience it. We drove there and arrived around 11:30. The Instagram page said the breakfast goes from 8am - 1 pm. We arrived at 1130, there was nearly no food left and whatever that was left was cold. There's about an hour and a half left on the experience and I could not even get a second plate cause not even that they were replenishing. We told the manager lady that came by the table that we were kind of upset that with plenty of time the breakfast was in such poor shape. We ate cold food. No eggs were left, no bread at all.... And the warm food was in crock pots, even with that. They turned off the crock pots... they were already off when we arrived... at 11:30? For a breakfast experience that is over at 1pm.... I can understand that this kind of experience can be a gamble and the restaurant owner can lose a lot of money in food waste. But there was ways, maybe leaving the table open passing lunch for those who wake up late like me. Sunday is a day a lot of people go to church. At 1205 while we were still possibly trying to take advantage of the breakfast that is advertised to be over at 1pm, they started to break down. So we who were still there couple not have any more coffe of any of the food we came to eat anymore, and anyone that could come in last minute for the experience now will not be able to. If it was someone like me who lives half hour away, get here at noon to have the breakfast I would be very angry to drive and get here on time and see them breaking it down. I told my concerns to the staff and hope it will assist to improve the experience for their guests because this has a lot of potential, but it is not being executed.

I had a pineapple caipirinha. It contained fresh pineapple and was quite tasty. For the appetizer, we tried the chicken coxinhas, which is apparently a must have Brazilian street food. I didn't much care for them, but I don't think these were bad ones. I suspect that I just don't care for the mix of flavors and textures. I'll try the beef ones next time. For dinner, we shared the steak and fries platter and it was delicious. The flavors showcased the steak- no marinade, no sauce, just good steak, decent fries, and a cheese sauce. Between this and side salads, we were well-fed and quite satisfied. Our server was appropriately attentive and offered recommendations. I would recommend this spot for a lowkey, no frills, casual night out where good grub the main thing you're looking for.
