This place is a great Peruvian restaurant!! Everything was so flavorful and fresh. I absolutely loved everything about the camarones al ajillo and could mix the sauce/marinade on everything on the place. Nothing we had was bad and I would recommend trying this place out. The service was great and so was the music. read more

my search for peruvian cuisine has ended, and i have chick-o-rico to thank for that. from the warm ambiance, to the welcoming spirits of victoria and carlos to the food itself, finding a quality peruvian restaurant on my first attempt is truly a blessing. the pollo a la brasa with tostones, maduros, string beans and natural mango juice were magnifico. in one shot, chick-o-rico has made a customer out of me. i'm lookin' forward to your carne asada, pechuga and other dishes you have to offer. oh, by the way, my forgetting to take a pic of the food is a testament of how much i enjoyed it. read more

I really love Chick-O-Rico the food is always flavorful, and I've had great experiences here before. This is my second review because I was disappointed with my visit today. I placed an online order at 1:27 PM, with an estimated pickup time of 1:55 PM. I arrived at 2:10 PM, expecting the food to be ready, especially since I was on my lunch break. Unfortunately, my food was just being prepared when I got there. As someone who works during the day, I order online specifically to avoid delays. While I've met the owner before and found them very kind, there was no apology or acknowledgment for the delay it was handled like this was completely normal. I still enjoy this place and want to support it, but I hope they can tighten up the online ordering process and communicate better during delays. Time matters, especially during a workday especially when the establishment was not busy at all. read more

For a while I've wanted to try this spot as I drive by the area regularly. It's South American Latin food. The location is great with comfortable outdoor seating when the weather permits and the decor inside is very welcoming too with a Latin charm to it. The beef empanada was good but a tad salty. Frankly both dishes I tried were a tad salty. Even though I didn't have the blown away experience that I had hoped for I'd definitely give the restaurant a second try. Maybe for the rotisserie chicken next time. I've had really great Latin food before so I won't give up on this spot just yet. read more

A Peruvian and Colombian restaurant. The food and service here are amazing! The interior space is humongous and the interior design is inspired by architecture of Barranquilla, Colombia. Tucked in the corner of a large shopping center is this gem. There is plenty of parking and is accessible from two sides. There is a lovely outdoor seating area if it is a nice day. It is like you are being transported to South America after your first bite, taste like a home cooked meal. Everything is fresh and made to order. The rotisserie chicken was my favorite with the house sauces. The food is truly authentic with a lot of their menu items you cannot get from anywhere else in the area. The prices are fair as well and they have daily specials every day of the week. Highly recommend Chick-O-Rico if you are looking for some Colombian or Peruvian food. read more

I love coming to this restaurant. We've been here twice now. It is always a great experience trying Peruvian foods. The quality of the food is perfect. Service is amazing and attentive. The last time I had Mojarra Frita (fried tilapia) and much to my surprise it was the WHOLE fish. Once I got the hang of it, it was so much fun to eat. The plantain dishes are to die for. Prices are very fair. This is one of our favorite new restaurants and hope to make it back very soon! read more

I have been searching for a Peruvian restaurant with good food since relocating from High Point, NC, to Charlotte. I discovered this spot and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, I immediately decided not to dine in because it was too hot inside. They were having AC issues. In fact, they were installing portable units when I arrived. The outside of the restaurant had a decent look, and the inside was ok. I found the music too loud for my taste. I was greeted by the hostess, who was very pleasant and welcoming. I ordered the Arroz Chaufa, a Peruvian-style stir-fried rice with chicken, egg, scallions, and plantains, but I had them add steak to it. I did not care for their food. It smelled delicious, but it wasn't good enough for me to want to go back there again. I cannot say that others should not try it, but compared to other Peruvian restaurants I've eaten at, I can't go back there. read more

Yummy yum yums. We stopped in for lunch and man was this place a delightful find. We started with empanadas: one chicken and one beef. These were different because they were a cornmeal pastry rather than a fried, flour based empanada pastry. DELICIOUS. My husband got the 1/4 chicken with the fried rice side and plantains. The rice was incredible. I got a salad topped with Peruvian chicken and avocado slices with a light, green dressing that was happiness making. They have a beef heart appetizer (unfortunately they were out today) that my husband has been searching for forever. The restaurant is light and airy and charming. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. It's taken us a while to try this place but it will now be on the rotation. If you haven't been, give it a go. You won't be disappointed. read more

This was a random lunch try but I left with knowing that I will definitely be a regular. First of all my service was amazing. Clarena was super informative and so helpful! She gave me a sample of their complementary juices, which I ended up going with the chichi Miranda and she also gave me a complementary piece of chicken because I was super confused on what to try if I could try the whole menu I would lol. But it definitely gives me a reason to go back. For my entrée I ended up getting the beef skirt steak with the rice egg and Yuka fries as well as the sweet plantains. Everything about this meal was so good. The steak came with a chimichurri sauce that I did not even need because the steak itself was seasoned so well and it was cooked wonderfully. I cut it with a freaking butter knife. That's how tender it was.! The sides were nice as well especially the plantains they were sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet which is how I like them. I am definitely going back! read more

Coming from a region with a lot of Peruvian Pollo A La Brasa options, we've been on a hunt to find places like that in Charlotte! We stumbled upon this place right around dinner time and decided to try it even though it was pretty empty. Food was well seasoned and piping hot! We were all pleasantly surprised at how good most of the food was. The server was very pleasant and patient. She explained some of the dishes to our party. The ambiance is nice. They look as if they have breads and sweets that are cooked or made in house as well. The only complaint was the soup. It was well stocked, however lacked seasoning. Every other dishes was superb. Flavors were there. The sauces they offered were so delicious. I will definitely try them again. As Insaidnit was my mother's birthday and without even asking they came with the traditional hat and morracos and sang happy birthday to her along with a slice of cake. It really made her day.

I am usually seated immediately if table are open and they come to the table quickly afterwards. Kudos! I love their empanadas. They are smaller and use corn meal for the crust instead of being more like pie crust as Cuban style empanadas are. They have a fabulous breakfast menu but I usually go for lunch or dinner. They have daily lunch specials that are listed on the website. These change daily. If you want to get an overall feel for Colombian food then try the Bendeja Paisa. It has grilled steak, pork rind, sausage, rice beans, Corncake, sweet plantains, an egg, and sliced avocado. All of their Flank Steak and Skirt Steak dishes are fabulous! Two that I really enjoy are Entrana and Carne Encebollada. They have seafood dishes too. Cheers!

I orderd the Filete de Pollo a la Parrilla and chicharron. The grilled chicken was hammered so it was a thin but large piece. It had a pinkish tent due to the yummy seasoning. The chicken was juicy and bursting with flavor. Delish! I enjoyed the salad which included a light creamy dressing. The plantains were sweet and cooked perfectly! It was my first time trying chicharron and I am now a fan. I rarely eat pork. But this was fried delicately so the outside had a nice crispy crunch but the inside was tender and juicy. If you're looking to switch up your dinner routine, I highly recommend trying Cali Colombian Restaurant!

From the decor to the desserts, everything here reminds me of home. Fantastic food across the board. A few standouts you can't skip: the wraps, the fried cheese, the yucca, and of course the croquettes. If you've ever wanted to take a trip to Hialeah but couldn't make the drive, stop in here first. You won't be disappointed.

We were intrigued with the Cuban/South American theme with which we were familiar, so here we were. Decided on Cuban Egg Rolls ($10.95) and Nicaraguan Egg Rolls ($10.95) and to drink, a Cuban Colada coffee ($3.50) and a soda called Iron Beer ($3.50). The egg rolls were two to an order so we could both experience each offering. They are fried to order and hot they were. I cut one in half and the too-thick shell basically shattered. All four egg rolls were too thick and too oil absorbed. Uck! The filling of the Nicaraguan was rice and tough little pieces of beef. The kind you would find in a very cheap street vendor's item. And the biting into the egg roll shot out scalding liquid and oil. Taste was awful. The Cuban version was the same unpleasant scalding experience, but the filling was slightly better. We just threw out the egg rolls, vowing to never order them again. And we do not recommend you even be tempted to try them. Wife loved her double espresso, sweet as you usually get in South America coffee. The Iron Beer is a flavored soda and I did not finish the can. Sooooo...we will be back, not for egg rolls, but to try other items from their vast menu of offerings. Just be advised and warned on those awful egg rolls.

The macarons were very good. $1.50 each (the size of a 50cent coin). They offered two types of flan: tres leche and de coco. I'm not a fan of coconut so I decided to try the three-milk one. It didn't have a milky flavor at all. It was more cheesy than milky or eggy. I was a little disappointed it was how I expected it to taste. We'd all had very limited exposure to Peruvian cuisine, so we really didn't know what to expect, or what we would like. Everything we got was delicious, and the boys devoured everything they brought to the table. Steak was tender and flavorful, the rice, plantains, and fries were all really well prepared. Not sure what the sauces were, but each one was unique and different from anything I'd had before. If you're new to Peruvian food, you should give it a try, it's really good, and the atmosphere is great. The restaurant is deceptively large inside, and the bakery at the front is also great. Not having much else to compare it to, I thought it was great, and really enjoyed the experience. Service was good, and the ambiance was amazing given the huge group of people there trading stickers. It was a bit pricier than we'd expected, which is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars, but it was a great experience.

Being from Miami, we've been spoiled with excellent Peruvian food everywhere, so we know what authentic and high-quality Peruvian cuisine should taste like. After living here for 8 years, we still haven't found a place that truly meets that standard. At first, things looked promising. The aroma when we walked in felt very authentic, they served cancha (which is rare around here), and they even had Chicha Morada -- all great signs that made us excited. Unfortunately, everything went downhill when we ordered the Lomo Saltado. In our opinion, the quality and cut of beef is what separates a good Peruvian restaurant from a bad one, and here the meat was very tough and chewy, clearly not good quality. The fries also seemed undercooked and not freshly prepared, which was disappointing. At $20 per plate, we expected a much better execution of such a classic Peruvian dish. Sadly, this experience did not meet the standards we're used to, and we won't be returning.
