We came here for my mother's birthday on her suggestion as well. She said the food was good. There are 3 locations however we came to the Arrowwood Rd location next to Compare Grocery Store. We were all pleasantly surprised at how good most of the food was. The server was very pleasant and patient. She explained some of the dishes to our party. The ambiance is nice. They look as if they have breads and sweets that are cooked or made in house as well. The only complaint was the soup. It was well stocked, however lacked seasoning. Every other dishes was superb. Flavors were there. The sauces they offered were so delicious. I will definitely try them again. As Insaidnit was my mother's birthday and without even asking they came with the traditional hat and morracos and sang happy birthday to her along with a slice of cake. Great Colombian restaurant with fantastic food in a casual atmosphere. Everything I have ever had from here has been delicious! The service is very prompt and efficient! I am usually seated immediately if table are open and they come to the table quickly afterwards. Kudos! I love their empanadas. They are smaller and use corn meal for the crust instead of being more like pie crust as Cuban style empanadas are. They have a fabulous breakfast menu but I usually go for lunch or dinner. They have daily lunch specials that are listed on the website. These change daily. If you want to get an overall feel for Colombian food then try the Bendeja Paisa. It has grilled steak, pork rind, sausage, rice beans, Corncake, sweet plantains, an egg, and sliced avocado. All of their Flank Steak and Skirt Steak dishes are fabulous! So if you go to any of their location, English isn't their greatest strength. They do greet you in Spanish but obviously afterwards, they will help you in English if you don't know the language. It is a chain so they do have multiple locations throughout Charlotte. Most of their location is usually small to medium seating and it reminds you of a local takeout or dine in busy spot. The food is always great. I love that they have different lunch specials from Monday until Sunday. Most places don't do weekend lunch specials but they do and you can't beat the price. It fills you up very well and I don't ever leave not full. I like that they have a variety of times on the menu. They do have their own parking. Service is very quick and food comes out quick as well, especially the lunch specials. If I want something simple and quick, I would go here. Staff is pretty nice and helpful. I have never had any issues coming here except maybe a little language barrier but that's it. This little location is so busy at lunch that I had to almost wait to be seated! I am thrilled to find it is thriving! The staff are all Latin American so if you don't speak their language you may have to point to a picture - but point away in confidence that whatever you choose it will be yummy. Today I tried the lunch special menu and chose the deal of the day- ribs with rice and beans. I'll admit when it arrived at my table I wasn't sure what in the world I was looking at and thought it was scary to see. But man when I took the first bite can I say holy cow that was sooooooooo delicious! Dang it made me lick my plate! It was so delicious I actually pondered ordering more to go so I could eat again when I wasn't so full ! The flavors were so delicious. The ribs were tender and tasty and I love the rice and beans so much I ordered that sometimes just by itself. I love the food. The restaurant isn't really fancy but it's the food - so yeah baby! Food poisoning alert! I came to NC to visit family and ended up in this dump. I only ordered an empanada because I was already sketchy about this place. My sister in law had half of my empanada and we both ended up sick to our stomach. The waitress that was attending us was rude with a RBF. It never disappoints. Beta lunch break coming here during lunch special. The portions are generous and the price is unbeatable. The flavors of the Tuesday special ( the chicken) took me back to my country (Brazil). Tip: when you come in lunch time make sure to ask for the lunch soda menu. They will show you their full menu first and only unless you ask they won't bring you the hidden lunch deals ;) The empanadas are small and perfect size for a snack. Very sad to write this review but after advocating for my order to be corrected it continued to be wrong. I ended having food poisoning to make matter worse I am currently solely nursing my 10 month old daughter, she was throwing up too. I should had listen to my intuition and not had the food "fixed". My husband had a small piece of the steak and said it had a bitter taste, and it did! I just didn't want speak to anyone else. I ate a couple of pieces and left the majority of the food. The rice was super sticky not typical for Colombian rice, the empanadas were not fresh barely lukewarm (we ate then and didn't said anything). I spoke to the owner, someone that I know for a couple of years. I thought he was going to own up to the cooks mistakes. He is was more upset that he had to remake the steak, than addressing that the quality of food has decreased. I will not be going back. The environment was very spacious, comfortable, clean, and homey. Because of COVID, I ordered the food to go, and the people who worked there were SO warm and friendly. This was the first time I tried Colombian food, and I got the Bandeja Paisa. The meal was VERY largely portioned, and I LOVED the beans. It came with a variety of meats and flavors, which I greatly appreciated. The Pork rind meat was a bit tough, but that just might be the way it is. The owners probably know they only have to do the bare minimum to keep the restaurant afloat considering they're essentially the only other Colombian restaurant in CLT. Ordered Bandeja paisa for pickup. Food was ready when I arrived. Everything was good, except for the arepa. It was so hard you could hear the crunching while eat it. Had to soak it in the beans to make it more edible. The Chicharon was really good though, had the right level of crunch to chew. read more

Mi tierra is authentic Colombian food restaurant and I love the food. I have traveled to Colombia on several occasions and this restaurant really resembles Colombian cuisine. Not only the food is good, but the decor is very nice as well with several pictures and memorabilia. We first started of with chicken and beef filled empanadas and I ordered a jugo de maracuya or passion fruit drink. To eat I got filete de pollo apanado or breaded chicken breast with rice, plantains, and a side salad. Also another great piece to this place is the bakery that bakes fresh bread such as cheese bread, pan de bono and other delicious pastries. We were at Mi Tierra #2 (I hope they're owned by the same because I can't find the other listing). This was my second time there and the first for my wife and kids. My wife had the sobrebarriga with salsa criolla. She said it was excellent and the meat was tender and easy to cut and eat. I had the picada. I love Colombian food, so when I saw this restaurant I decided to go and give them a chance. I live in South Carolina so once a month i go to North Carolina to get my Spanish food and spices from compare foods. It was a Sunday midday, the place is small with maybe 10 tables? So once I open the door, I notice how busy they were nevertheless I was greeted very warmly by a waitress and a nice man ( maybe the owner) who apologize for the for the wait and gave us the menu. After a 5 minutes we were sit and the waitress offered us drinks and appetizers: we got water and chicken empanadas. It arrive in no time, and my kids love. My kids ordered grill Chichen and I ordered cazuela de mariscos. Even though they were busy, our order didn't take long. I must say that I love loved my cazuela de mariscos! The portion was generous so We couldn't finish it so we it to go. My only complaint is that I ordered 4 empanadas to go along arepa con huevo and a skirt steak and when I got home, they didn't give me the empanadas nor the steak event though they charged me for it. I was so disappointed because I done live near by. Nevertheless I called them to make them aware of it, and they apologized and assured me that they would replace it when I return but unfortunately I live 50 miles away so wouldn't go back until next month. Since I live the food so much, I will definitely go back. Update- I went back on Saturday morning and it was a bit busy but the service was horrible. I feel that the service and food is not as good because of poor job by waiters. Too busy? Since they decided to expand it and of course with a national shortage of staff, the service very poor. It takes forever to even get a drink. I understand there is an issue with staffing. My opinion; pay higher wages to your employees, don't raise the price of food on the menu unless you can provide good service and hire 3 more people. You will lose loyal customers like myself. NOT an authentic Colombian bakery! In all my years I've never seen a latin bakery that doesn't make café con leche, not to be confused with American coffee and creamer! You definitely cannot make café con leche from a black American coffee pot. Upon walking into this poor excuse of a Colombian bakery I must admit I got a little excited thinking that I would finally get a taste of that delicious hot sweet latin coffee that we refer to as "café con leche" but oh how wrong I was. The guy behind the counter quickly asked for my order and I immediately placed it anxiously anticipating a nice cup of café! When I saw him reaching for an American Coffee pot I cringed! I immediately told him to STOP! And gave him the opportunity of correcting himself. They have a great selection of baked breads, traditional entres, and must-have fruit smoothies (yumm, mora). Don't expect anything fancy when you come here!
