    Baleada #5 (takeout)
    Jacqueline T.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo here, but we really came for the Honduran and Salvadoran food more than Mexican. We got way too much food and I'm still in a food coma. We ordered a pork and cheese Pupusa, Baleada #5, chorizo tacos, the Salvadoran steak, tres leches, and horchata. For $6 I thought the Baleada would be small, but it was huge. It could have been my whole meal. It was all fantastic. My favorite thing was the Pupusa followed very closely by the Baleada. The tacos were great, but they didn't stand out as much to me since I don't see baleadas and pupusas on as many menus around. The sweet treats were great. I loved both the tres leches and the horchata. I think the tres leches was the best I've had. They aren't doing curbside right now, so you'll need to order over the phone and go inside to pick it up. They also can't take payment over the phone, so you have to pay inside. These weren't the best for social distancing, but luckily no one was inside when we were there. There are a lot of comments in reviews about them not speaking English well, but that was not a problem for me. The Batch Maker recommended this for Honduran food and I'm so glad she did. We loved it and it's not something you see much around Charlotte!

Wow, what a meal. It's not common to see Honduran food in the US. Salvadoran food is a bit more common, but is still hard to find. If you look at the low reviews, you'll see that those people were not ordering Salvadoran or Honduran food, and knew very little about Latin American culture in general. I'm glad that I ignored those reviews, and went here, based on the recommendation of a colleague. The food was amazing. I was sitting on a table across from a group of five, so I was able to see their food as well as my food. I think my soup, the Honduran Seafood Soup, is the prettiest bowl of soup I've ever had. It also might be one of the tastiest, but it took me almost two hours to eat the vast majority of it. I asked for an empty bowl for all the shells, since I didn't feel right putting them on the table. The bowl contained four crab clusters, and multiple clams, mussels, shrimp, and assorted vegetables. There was a full serving of fish on top, a bowl of rice w/ veggies next to it, and some warm tortillas wrapped up in foil. Easily enough food for two people, or for two meals. The complimentary chips and salsa were great as well. I also can't say enough about the service. The hostess and waitress were extremely friendly, checked in several times to see how I was doing, and get a solid 5 stars. The whole experience cost me $22 w/ tax and tip, which is very reasonable for the amount of food, specifically seafood, that I received. I bookmarked it, and will certainly be back.

Food was ok. Whole fried fish was petrified. Service SUCKED. I ordered a margarita. If you know me you will understand that I drink the whole thing and I could still speak. I can still feel my lips. I have come to the conclusion it was no alcohol. We asked for the manager who made us another. I asked for no salt in my ankles are swelling as we speak because there was salt. I'm not coming back. I'll go up the street to the Vietnamese place

Great presentation of food! The pictures of the food brought me in, and were just as pretty in person. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my taste buds. The price was crazy affordable for the budget savvy. Everything all together was $26 Amazing! Beverage: Horchata- Very sweet and had a cinnamon flavor Water with lime- good! Cheese quesadilla- with cilantro & onions - Good! Just had an excess of cheese, & I'm a cheese lover. It was also pretty greasy, the oil dripped off of it. The salad was ok (comes with a red sauce that tastes like a red ranch) this was ok. The other side items are pickled with jalapenos. Yikes, that was a real wake up to my taste buds. Shrimp Burrito- my friend thought it was not great, but edible. The red sauce that covered the burrito was surprisingly sweet and my friend didn't like it at all. She didn't touch the rice or salad after the shocking jalapenos made her eyes and nose run. Rice- not going to order again! Not great. Cheese Pupulsa - a cheese filled corn tortilla - if you like corn you may enjoy this. If not, like me, it will sit on the plate.

I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could. The only thing that stopped it from getting 5 stars was the service. When I'm served, I don't expect anyone to go above and beyond but I do expect to feel welcomed. That was not the vibe I got except from one older male server. But the fooooooooodddddd, my God even two days later it still hit. I would go back here again and again just to try something new every time. The portion sizes are great for the price and the seafood was quality. Salmon cooked just right. Overall a great place to eat.

    Take out. Bistec Encebollado.

I'm in a hotel near Charlotte airport and didn't want to be driving around searching for a Mexican joint so to Uber Eats I went. This was high on their list but not so high on Yelp. First it was much further away than what Uber suggested so by the time it got to me it was cooler than what I like. However the meal was tasty so the 4 stars. Probably a much better experience in the restaurant. Didn't come with chips and salsa to which I expected. Didn't need them anyway so I didn't count it against them.

During my dinning visit, I experienced decent customer service when it came to my waiter, but the staff in general was really friendly and attentive . Food was amazing, the beans a little salty but other then that it was exquisite. The natural juices were fresh and not from the box , all five of us chose different ones. Food portion was HUGE. The prices were good and we'll priced on the plate . I would go there again . Overall a good experience.

Do you like Pina Colada's? How about amazing food?

If you're looking for authentic, delicious Latin (Salvadorian, Honduran) food... This is definitely a place you want to check out. Outstanding ceviche, fresh tortillas, out-of-this-world grilled steak, shrimp, and chicken. Yummy! So glad we dropped in...we'll definitely be back again.

I went on a walk with my partner on Sunday morning to grab brunch. It was sunny and beautiful outside, but our hearts were heavy with the loss of our sweet Shih Tzu, Harpo, the night before. I couldn't keep the tears away no matter how hard I tried, and entered the restaurant with Kim Kardashian-level cry face. The hostess and the restaurant director, Alex, immediately empathized with us and shared stories of their own furry friends. I was definitely interested in the $1 mimosas they have on Sundays and Alex made sure we had one in our hands before we had the chance to review the menu. As a starter, we ordered las croquetas-- great flavor and creamy on the inside. We ordered the steak & eggs and the Spanish omelette. Both were delicious! I can always count on Catalú to serve some delicious potatoes. The sauce had a little bit of spice, but nothing too crazy for me. The team went out of their way with their generosity and gifted us the French toast, banana split, and a celebration toast for our sweet boy. The banana split was my favorite! I loved the ice cream and the crispy, brûléed bananas were amazing. Everyone showed us so much kindness and warmth during such a sad day. I really felt like our decision to stop in that morning was the universe reminding us that there is so much compassion and love in the world to go around-- even without our sweet boy beside us. Thank you so much to the entire Catalú team for making us feel loved and seen. I really cannot thank you all enough.

There's gotta be a way to ensure they stay tender and are not a little tough and dried out. Love the idea of the corn, but there was no flavor. Not sure if maybe marinating the corn and something might give it a kick? That was absolutely not the case with any other dish, under any circumstances! Oh my God, the croquettes? From the moment you walk in, you feel it -- the music, the vibe, the warmth. The live band sets the tone with classic Cuban rhythms that make the entire place feel alive. It's not just background music -- it's part of the experience. The sound fills the room without overpowering conversation, creating that perfect balance between lively and intimate. Now let's talk about the food -- because it's outstanding. I ordered a plate featuring tender, slow-braised shredded beef in a rich, savory tomato-based sauce. The meat was incredibly flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and fall-apart tender -- you can tell it's been cooked low and slow the right way. The sauce had depth, with hints of garlic, peppers, and warm spices that tied everything together beautifully. It was served alongside perfectly cooked rice (dark and flavorful, likely infused with beans and seasoning), sweet fried plantains that were caramelized just right -- crispy edges, soft centers -- and a fresh, crisp salad to balance the richness. Every component on the plate complemented the other. Nothing felt like an afterthought. The presentation was generous and rustic, exactly what you want from authentic Cuban comfort food. Fortunately another bartender came over, clocked that I was just sitting there unattended, and immediately smiled and handed me a menu before taking both of our orders.
