We had dinner at Dos Caminos tonight, and unfortunately the experience got off to a very rough start. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. It appeared there may have been a private event happening, so things seemed a little chaotic, which is understandable. What wasn't understandable was what happened next. A customer accidentally broke a glass. The hostess moved the party to another table but left the broken glass on the floor. For at least 20 minutes, the glass remained there while the hosts chatted at the stand, one cleaned menus, and multiple servers walked by it -- some even stepping over it. As a mom, all I could think about was someone getting hurt. It was honestly shocking that no one took responsibility for cleaning it up immediately. Meanwhile, our wait stretched to over 30 minutes, and we watched other parties who appeared to have just walked in get seated ahead of us, despite the fact that we were standing almost directly in front of the host stand the entire time. After finally asking about our table, we were seated -- but without menus. I walked back to the host stand and got them myself. Once our server arrived, the experience improved and service at the table was generally fine. The food was meh. I ordered the giant soup and was disappointed. It tasted more like a basic chicken vegetable soup with tortilla strips than anything I would consider Mexican-inspired. My biggest takeaway isn't even the food--it's the lack of attention to guests and basic safety at the front of the house. Leaving broken glass on the floor for that long is unacceptable, and the host team could benefit from better training in guest service, communication, and supporting the rest of the restaurant staff. Native Texan here, so yes--I'm biased when it comes to Mexican food. Unfortunately, this place was mediocre at best and overpriced for what you get. I ordered the carne asada and was genuinely excited, but it was a letdown from the start. They never asked how I wanted the steak cooked, which is a huge mistake. Then they covered the steak in cheese--why? That completely overpowered everything. I couldn't even taste the chimichurri. A suggestion: grill the steak properly and serve it simply. If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. On the positive side, the service was on point--our waitress was amazing. The inside was clean and had a kind‑of Mexican vibe going on. read more

I visited this restaurant in hopes of doing a buyout event. The space was very well decorated and lended itself to a nice space for a private event with outdoor/indoor options, DJ, etc. I was surprised that the restaurant (and event manager) did not make sure that we had the best experience, to include service. Our server seemed like they were still in training (slow refill of drinks, didn't bring share plates, etc) - why not assign your most experienced server to our table?? One of the first questions asked is about dietary restrictions - one guest didn't eat pork....her plate included beans mixed with pork. The FINAL regular season pre-game lunch for Seahawks @ Panthers Sun 12/28/25 and this was the consensus location. I had a previous visit where the check calculation was a problem for our group inspite all of us declaring we wanted 'separate checks'. Sadly, we didn't get our checks til 15 minutes before game time. We didn't discover the mix up until well after the game. It took a few phone calls to finally get in contact with the Regional Manager, Daniel, but he was very responsive and promised an opportunity to make it right. We all shared a taquito appetizer which was OK, maybe a bit too crispy and not a lot of flavor. Ben had the Ridiculously Large Tortilla Soup which he said was very good and more than he could finish for a lunch meal. Isla had the cheese Quesadilla which she objected to at the beginning but relented and after eating it agreed it was much better than Taco Bell. She's only five so there's that. I had the shrimp & chicken fajitas which were really good! You get the option of corn/flour tortillas and comes with a generous portion of protein and so many good add on's: spanish rice, refrios, lettuce, pico de gallo and guacamole. Brian, the Manger, checked in on us twice and we had a great server who kept the re-fills coming and making sure everything was OK. This place gets very busy on game day so I recommend getting there by 11am when they open and they do accept on-line reservations. The Ally Bank parking deck is adjacent so it's easy access and relatively affordable for game day parking. You can exit to Good Samaritan Way and avoid the congestion on Brooklyn Village and Tryon Street. read more

Stopped in after an event for drinks and a bite -- great call. Even with the place buzzing, we snagged two seats at the bar without a wait. My friend and I both went with the margarita cocktail with a sugar rim and it did not disappoint. For food, I ordered the beef empanadas (three count) and they were juicy and satisfying. The dipping sauce was simple but it worked. My friend got the pollo ranchero and loved it -- we both left with leftovers, which says a lot. Oh, and the bathrooms were clean with multiple stalls. I did wait a little while before the server came over, but once she did, her customer service was spot on. The ambiance of this establishment is very vibrant, with beautiful light fixtures and both indoor and outdoor seating options that set the perfect vibe. I went right when the location opened and again more recently and have had different experiences. I think for the portion sizes and price it is a little bit underwhelming. The space is great but I think it does so well where it is location wise with businesses and the stadium. The food was tasty but the drinks were okay. The first time I got the Birria tacos they were HUGE and more recently they were like wish me tacos. Small and hardly any filling. We checked out this popular Mexican restaurant-bar in Uptown Charlotte on a Saturday night... As expected, the place was packed...with a very loud, festive bar ambiance. Seemingly more bar than a restaurant vibe. A bit too loud and bustling...not at all relaxing. My husband ordered Dos Enchiladas, and I ordered Skirt Steak Asada...along with a side of Mexican City Street Corn. Well, right off the bat, it was a dud...because my husband received a wrong order. He might have returned it, but the waiter didn't stop back for awhile, so he just ended up eating it. Dos Enchiladas was supposed to be Chicken, but he said he received Shrimp Enchiladas...and he wasn't too impressed with the taste of this dish either. My Skirt Steak was a dud too. First of all, it was over 30 bucks, so I expected an amazing plate (at least a good plate!). Well, first of all, it was quite small. More importantly, it tasted so bland. The steak was too chewy, and the flavor-sauce was mild and underwhelming. Same with the cheese and the beans....all so soggy, watered down, and just Blahhhh. I could only down one third of it...and my husband helped eat most of it. For a more expensive Mexican specialty like this, I just expected better quality. It just wasn't. Sadly, it made me think of watered down dog food. Also, the corn was O-Kay, but it was overpowered by spicy powder (or whatever it was)...just way too much! Even their house salsa sauce tasted bad...with this weirdly bitter accent. THE only thing I enjoyed was this Queen City Margharita...which was jet black in color, yet surprisingly sweet and tasty. Service wasn't too great either. Again, the place was busy...and our waiter just wasn't too attentive. I literally had to go grab someone to get him to come to our table. He'd literally walk by several times without even glancing our way. Again, he brought us the wrong food (no Dos Enchiladas!)...and the rest wasn't too great either. Guess the only redemption was the drink...but it was quite overpriced. Overall, this was a dining experience we both decided not to repeat. Glad I checked it out, but never again. read more

Uptown Charlotte has rather lackluster food but this is one of the top restaurants in terms of poor food quality and price. I ordered the fajitas that cost 23 dollars and it literally came out in a child size portion. This is the kind of frustration that I find commonplace in the Charlotte food scene. I wasted my birthday evening here. I ordered a margarita that was so awful it nearly triggered my gag reflex, and even the waiter admitted he'd tasted it in the kitchen and called it disgusting. And my quesadilla: came out cold. I could've stayed home, made a quesadilla, and saved myself $18. Then our waiter blandly announced he'd bring my birthday treat "when he had time", completely killing the element of surprise and leaving my birthday feeling more "meh" than fiesta. It seems as though this place has not put the proper training and care in to their kitchen, bar, nor wait staff before throwing them on to the floor. Needless to say, I will never return. read more

We went to Dos Caminos tonight, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. When we arrived, we were greeted by Brian, the host. My mom has difficulty eating spicy food and usually avoids Mexican restaurants altogether. Since it was a Sunday and many other places were closed, we decided to give Dos Caminos a try. I asked Brian if it would be possible to prepare something without any spice for her. To my surprise, he personally brought out the chef to speak with my mom about her options. Wow--that level of care and attention was truly above and beyond. My mom felt so welcomed and appreciated. The chef prepared a delicious meal of salmon, rice, and a fresh salad that she thoroughly enjoyed. The kindness and thoughtfulness shown by the staff exceeded all of our expectations. Our server, Christian Cruz, was equally exceptional. We were a party of eight, with people ordering drinks and appetizers at different times throughout the evening, and he handled everything seamlessly. Our chips and salsa were constantly replenished, our drinks never sat empty, and all of the food arrived fresh and delicious. It's rare to find a restaurant that combines great food with such outstanding hospitality. Thank you to Brian, Christian, and the entire team for making our evening so enjoyable and stress-free. I hate to be this person but this was genuinely one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. From arriving, the host made us feel like a burden. Moving on to our server, and really all of the staff in general- no personality whatsoever. I work in the industry and have never seen a place with such little joy. At this point I was only hoping at least the food would be good. Unfortunately, it was terrible. Everything was cold and lacked flavor. I also really want to reiterate how terrible our server was. Last thing I think is ridiculous- the prices. $13 for the tiniest queso you've ever seen and $5.25 for a tiny glass of soda.. stay far away this place just made me sad lol read more

Went yesterday to specifically have an espresso martini. My husband and I ordered nachos, Chicharrón and two espresso martinis. They were out of Chicharrón - which the waitress had for warned us about that they may be out of them, but they're also out of espresso. We canceled the $22 nachos and walked out. Was a nice looking place and it was packed. The only thing we had was chips and salsa for the table and I assume it would've been good food, but I was very annoyed that they were out of the two things that we specifically ordered. Sprinkled tables of guests throughout including the bar. Bartender provided a menu but no recommendations or of any specials. Ordered Barria tacos. Unfortunately, you can't mix and match tacos. If you choose the tacos, you'll get three of the same tacos + beans and rice. Took the food to go and it was delicious. Both the bartender and hostess recommended the Barria tacos. A friend and I came to Dos Caminos for dinner on a Friday. We got there around 4:45 and had to wait to be seated outside. There were open tables but we waited. The host said it would be about 20 min. After about half hour, we went to check on our table and we were able to be seated right away. That was odd. Anyways, we ordered guac as an appetizer. It was good, but I feel like it was a little pricey for the portion. For our entrees I ordered enchiladas and my friend ordered fish tacos. The food was good. Our server was cool too.
