    Tacos, Gordita

Wanted to have some good tacos while visiting Charlotte and this place did not disappoint me. Tried their tacos with fresh made tortillas, and a Gordita (fried) those options were delicious. Wait staff was attentive and nice. Place was very relaxing and has that family style vibe.

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in Charlotte, this is a solid option. The food was flavorful & authentic. My favorite dish out of all of the food we ordered was the burrito. We added additional protein for an extra charge but ultimately, I believe the prices are very reasonable. Chips & Queso are always my go to appetizer at a Mexican restaurant and although it wasn't the absolute best one I've ever had, it is still a must order. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating options however it is a little bit more snug so be mindful of that if you use anything where you need assistance to be mobil. The parking lot had an unnecessary amount of deep pot holes. Be super careful pulling into the lot and try to avoid them as best as you can. Unfortunately, they are in multiple areas of the lot. As far as service, I can't complain really. It wasn't anything that was outstanding, yet it wasn't bad at all. I can tell the restaurant is more popular since it was a full house. Because of that, our waitress checked on us enough to get us through the meal comfortably!

This has been my favorite spot for YEARS! authentic Mexican food and drinks. Came on a Saturzay for an early dinner around 3pm, and it was busy but able to get a table for 2. It is a small place, so be prepared to wait during their peak hours and seated closely next to others. Decided to eat tacos, which are $3.25 each. If you decide to get Tripa or lengua, which is specialty meat, you will be upcharged. They do NOT offer free chips and salsa like normal Mexican restaurants, which I thought was weird and disappointing. If you do want chips, they are $2. We ended up just ordering them to go along with our tacos. The tacos were AMAZING as I knew they would be. Great flavor, taste, and handmade corn tortillas. Whenever im.in the are and craving Mexican food, this is my go-to to spot. They do have parking spaces around the restaurant and never had a problem with parking when I've gone.

The tacos were above average, not mind blowing, but I was pretty happy with them. Service was above average. Atmosphere was average for a taco place. Got Al pastor, carne asada, pork skin, and birria tacos & vibes were worth going back.

The BEST birria in town. The prices are amazing, the food is insane and the service is top notch. Much love for this place

Cheese dip. 7.50 and I don't even get the cup filled??

Food is good. Service is rude especially the ones take or giving out the to-go orders. Also I paid 7.50 for 2 OZ of cheese dip is crazy.

Look out for the Gringo Tax! "Large party"fees are now applied to Gringo tabs. We had three adults and two kids, 5 and 4. We were sat at a booth and they slipped in a $20 charge on top of our bill. Great food but insulting tactic. It just comes out of the severs tip.

A group of us came here for tacos and drinks. I had the chicken, shrimp, and fish tacos. Every taco was tasty. Their tacos are in soft shells. They also offer a spicy and mild sauce for the table. Drinks were really good and service was excellent. Our waitress was so friendly and funny. If you're looking into authentic Mexican food, come here!

One of the best traditional taco places in Charlotte in one of the most diverse areas of the city. Taco El Nevado offers a pretty decent variety of affordable options in authentic Mexican food. The tacos are particularly delicious. My co-worker and I went to lunch and ordered a mix of tacos: chicken, shrimp, chicharron, chorizo, etc. We also ordered the passion fruit juice and horchata drink and had the flan for dessert. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is in its own stand alone building with plenty of free parking. It is easy to find. This is a fun place but not the fanciest, so keep that in mind. I recommend it for lunch as the food is pretty seasoned, and you probably don't want to go to bed with such a heavy and seasoned meal in your belly. Good stuff and I can't wait to come back!

If you're craving tacos, you definitely need to come here. This is probably one of the most authentic Mexican places. They serve you complimentary dips with chips in the beginning. Their tacos are delicious and I always love using their sauces. I feel like you couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. Staff was efficient and very friendly. My friend had mentioned in passing that it was my birthday and our server surprised me with flan and turned on birthday music, which I truly appreciated it.

busy busy place, great family atmosphere. There is a bar and outside seating are as well. Ordered 4 asada burritos, by far they were very very good. Only complaint was they needed more meat but for the price its not bad. The burrito was a good size , it came with charbroiled pepper and onions.

The food is still excellent, but they no longer give you chips and salsa. You have to buy an appetizer to get them.

Does it have a bar area?

We did not see one, and I also did not see them any other drinks besode sodas, water, and tea.

Is it open? I'm calling and always give me a busy tone. Check website and looks like it doesn't exist anymore. Thank you!

It should be. Been there awhile and they are usually busy. Been there a few times in the last few weeks. I hope it is! Good luck! Food and service were great!

If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
