I've had delivery from this restaurant before, but dining in is an incredible experience. The bright colors and charming interior make you feel right at home. The service is excellent and the food is so full of freshness and flavor that you will be wanting to come back the next day for more. The food here is crave-able. I'm already addicted. This is my new favorite spot for Mexican.

Well... sometimes South Blvd can be a pain! Good news , if you find yourself on the end of a hit and run accident near La Preferida they will quickly serve you to-go so you can at least have a dinner in your car waiting for Charlotte's finest to come out to give you a police report! Seriously though, I am so appreciative of the amazing friendly service and warm reception of the host as well as super delicious tacos, quesadillas, guacamole and cold bottled soda. This made the perfect solution to a tough night and I can't wait to come back to try more! Check this place out, they have Taco Thursdays and have real authentic flavors that remind me of Californian Mexican food. They are very attentive and everything out of the kitchen looked beautiful.

I came in for the one dollar tacos on a Thursday. They have fast service I was approached as soon as I walked in everything seems fresh and authentic. I see families in here and groups of friends so you can pretty much bring anyone. It is very reasonably priced and the margarita was OK. My only issue was that you did not get the opportunity to see what you pay for, they do not have proper receipts. I paid cash and card. The receipt comes out if you pay with a credit card, but doesn't show what you actually had on your tab. I had three shrimp tacos, which was only a dollar and a margarita which was 1150 total came out to be 18 so were the tacos now $1.50 and you had a tax, I don't know either way. It was a decent hole in a wall.

I was craving some Mexicana so I stopped at the first place I found . Yes it looked a little divey from outside. Yes it looked a lot old inside but I was giving the place a shot. I ordered taquitos . It came with lettuce beans rice and a tomato with a dollop of a avocado on top. I have to say kindly none of it was great. The meat ( beef) in the taquito was salty and not great. The chicken taquito was just okay. The rice was orange. It didn't taste great - so I passed on eating it. The beans were just salty and not good. The tea was half & half and I remember thinking maybe I was having an off day to be this dissatisfied with the entire experience - even the tea. I politely got my check and decided to go up front to pay. It was there that it all made sense. There on the wall - away from everything else .... It read GRADE B. 85 ... oh lord . I missed it on the way in . Yikes . So there you have it . A grade B lunch . Exactly what I was thinking. No Bueno mi Amigo No Bueno

What a bad experience, we ordered 14 tacos from Esteban, supposedly at 1.00 and the bill was wrong, they charged $27 dollars and a guacamole the size of a salsa was $7.50, it doesn't make sense, at the time of paying, how dishonest, I will not return and I do not recommend this place.

You know when you're driving aimlessly around and you can't quite make up your mind where you want to go? I did just that this morning, I was starving and it was 1020am, so I did not want to wait 40 minutes for places to open, so I was cruising past La Preferida and I saw that it was open, so I u-turned Dukes of Hazard style and thought I would check it out. My server brought me chips, three salsas and a dish of limes first thing. Hell yeah, good morning to you too! I ordered Enchiladas Suizas off of the lunch menu, she sat my grande plate down with a blanket of melted cheese. Dios mio. I was in heaven. Delicious way to start the day and when I paid, it was $8. I'm so into this.

Wonderful food with warm environment. I was looking for a Mexican place to eat at while in Charlotte that was not the same cookie cutter style of texmex. I had the steak asada quesadilla. I love the salsas they provide. But watch out for the orange one,it has a kick. This is what is left of my dinner.

BEST LITTLE " hole in the wall restaurant " so cute on the side decorated so cute ! Looks like a little fiesta going on ! They bring chips to you dine in only for complimentary chips and salsa , they are always so nice in here and very quick with food literally but usually I only get the Lengua tacos which is cow tongue to each it's own . Anyways very authentic tacos but they do have an option to dress them up more if you want sour cream or etc , corn tortillas are fresh and homemade not those store brought craps ! I know when I was pregnant I took a chance and ordered them on DoorDash and everything was still hot when it came to me . I've pretty much had everything on there menu and desserts , everything is made to order and it's a real BANG for your buck especially when I ordered on DoorDash I would spend maybe $15 or less and using DoorDash that's a steal ! Cute place to order to go or just have a cheap date night because they do have beer and margaritas not a full bar or anything but I know they get fun at night and have music blasting 10/10 every-time ! Tacos are also $1.50 on Thursday and if you are far from south Blvd I say it worth the drive . My meal today was $10.63 .

In Charlotte most places don't have authentic shrimp tacos. These were soooooo good and portioned to perfection.

I ordered the carne asada and was genuinely excited, but it was a letdown from the start. They never asked how I wanted the steak cooked, which is a huge mistake. Then they covered the steak in cheese--why? That completely overpowered everything. I couldn't even taste the chimichurri. A suggestion: grill the steak properly and serve it simply. If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. On the positive side, the service was on point--our waitress was amazing. The inside was clean and had a kind‑of Mexican vibe going on.

His service was quick, professional, and welcoming, which really stood out and made us feel taken care of the whole time. It is rare to have a server who brings such a positive energy to the table, and Orhan definitely did that. I ordered the Burrito Basico with steak, and it was amazing. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the burrito itself was packed with fresh ingredients that all blended together so well. Every bite was full of flavor, and the portion size was more than worth it. Between the delicious food and Orhan's outstanding service, this was an excellent experience overall. Unexpected and absolutely delicious.

We arrived around 130p and sat downstairs even though it was nice out and there's an upstairs bar, they said it was not available... They were advertising $1 mimosas for the holidays which is a steal, but to be honest, it was very OJ heavy which I guess is what you would expect. They are normally $3 so still a great price. There is a dedicated parking lot and street spots as well. It's a bright and colorful space with vibrant decor. We ordered an assortment of breakfast and birria tacos. I enjoyed my tacos especially being able to order à la carte, but the service was a bit slow even though it wasn't too busy or crowded. I would give it another chance for lunch or dinner. Or a taco Tuesday! They have daily specials so I think it's worth another shot. @azfitfoodfun

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
