Family friendly, generous portions, lightning fast service, and reasonable prices. It's exactly what you want and they have it all. A few Coronas, way too many chips and salsa, and a combo entree caps off any long day with the wife and kids. Try the Horchata or get a Jarriitos Guava while you enjoy the old school environment. read more

El valle is always so good and so fast. The employees are super friendly and make sure you're taken care of. The food is always delish and served hot! Margaritas to cool you off as well and the menu has always been decently priced. Inside the restaurant is clean and the booths are always great to sit back and relax and enjoy some chips and queso! read more

I had the same experience as some others. The server was very rude. Caught an attitude before we could even finish ordering. I ordered shredded chicken tacos authentic. I got chunks of what looks and tasted like boiled chicken with no seasoning Cold and cold cheese and lettuce. That's not authentic tacos. It was vile.., I forced myself to eat half of the first taco... I asked him to take it off the Bill and I would even pay for the one taco because I forced myself to try and eat it. He was nasty and rude and flipped out on me.... The manager was nice and took it off... still terrible read more

This is a classic Mexican restaurant with great food and great service. The restaurant is popular and lively, and the food selection is extensive. I tried the "fresh" margarita and it was really delicious and light-tasting. All of the food was fresh and flavorful. I was even pleasantly surprised by how good the guacamole in my salad was. I'm happy to have found this place. This will be my neighborhood go to for Mexican cuisine. read more

Last night was our second visit and second time having Alondra as our waitress. Her pace was great, as well as her attentiveness! This visit I chose the undercover chimi and my hubs had the burrito Michacoana (sp?) with the queso con chorizo app. It was all very delicious! We left full and happy with our leftovers! read more

Love this place more every time I come! Service is always on par and food tastes made from scratch. The fajita bowl is always full of meat and vegetables which I love and their portion sizes are great. read more

The service here has gone way downhill. Food is good but not worth it with the horrible service. We came here on a weekday for dinner and got sat pretty quickly. We got sat at a corner booth. It took a while to be greeted but we finally did and it took a while to get our drinks. We finally ordered. We got our food pretty quickly but at this point our drinks were low and we wanted more chips and salsa. My food was also messed up. Our server had our table, a three top and an eight top. He was going back and forth with the other two tables but were ignoring us. My husband tried to flag him down a few times and he still ignored us. We waited and waited. We were sick of sucking on ice from our drinks. I finally went to the hostess stand and told the manager what happened. She asks us what all we needed and I tell her and she said she would get it for us. Did she? Nope. She told our server to come back to our table and he comes with an attitude asking what we needed. So we had to explain for the second time what we needed. He gets our items quickly. A few minutes later the same manager goes up to us and asks us if we need a box. Doesn't even ask if we are ok or if things are better. I tell her they are better but that my food was messed up and I couldn't even finish it since it was messed up and I couldn't even tell our server. Does she try to fix that? Nope. She only gets a box for our food. I have no desire to come here again. read more

Another great meal! I have been coming to this place for nearly 17 years and it is still good. Servers are very attentive. Brought some family members from Florida and they enjoyed their food. Keep up the good work! read more

Excellent food and service! One thing that really stood out was the beef hamburger meat. Most places the beef comes out semi-greasy but at El Valle it has been perfect every time and flavorful. Margarita specials are nice also! Check them out! read more

One of the best Mexican food restaurants in Charlotte. The cheese dip is amazing, and very cheap. The service speed is unreal. I've waited in longer drive-thru lines. Food is always out, in no more than 5 minutes after ordering. I got the #15 combo, but will continue to try every combo each visit. read more

After back-to-back excellent experiences ordering the Carne Asada, this last dinner trip left me deflated. Not only was service lackluster but the steak was also so tough and gristley that I couldn't eat it. It also had an unusual taste compared to my last two visits. Now I am a more than a little leery about ordering it again. Plus the chips were stale. This is one of our go-to Mex joints but it's kinda hit-or-miss. Hard to get excited about returning soon after an experience like this this. There are just to many other options. read more

Atmosphere is a basic family, small town, place. Restaurant seems clean and colorful and our service was great. Most dishes looked fine but I (and my girlfriend) got the carne asada which was cooked down to shoe leather. She got a top shelf margarita, which looked normal. My "regular" one was a toxic neon green so clearly its not only the tequila thats different. I hate to drag a place but clearly it wasn't my cup of tea. If youre looking for a tex mex place to eat with your kids in Matthews, this might be a choice. read more

waitress guy was very rude and unpleasant. I asked for street tacos they gave me three flour tortillas tacos with blain chicken with lettuce on top. instead of having a melt down i walked to the front and let them know i didn't even take one bite of out the tacos and that what i ordered i didn't receive (the street tacos) the lady at the front didn't acknowledge my disappointment and proceeded to ring me up. Never going here again SO HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED read more

Picked up taco salad bowls during quarantine for to use for my own salad. $2 each was little high, but they were yummy. I put them in the oven already baked on 200 just to warm them up. We returned to El Valle for dinner with some friends, after not having returned for -- yikes!! -- 7 years. I must give El Valle kudos and a higher rating this time around, as we had an exceptional experience. I honestly couldn't remember our last visit, but I'm glad we returned. The menu is quite extensive. It took awhile to review it entirely. And I found a lot of different choices than a lot of Mexican restaurants offer, which was a nice surprise. All at fantastic prices, with an average of about $10 a person. I finally decided on Camarones El Loco, which is described as "shrimp in a special burning hot chipotle sauce, served with rice and beans." What intrigued me most was the "burning hot" sauce. While it didn't seem "burning hot" to me (sadly), it certainly was delicious and came with a lot of shrimp. It was a creamy sauce without much kick. Bonus: all the sauce doubled as a sauce for the rice. I didn't even use the tortillas that were brought with the meal; it was all good and filling on its own. One of our friends ordered one of the soups that she's ordered before, proclaiming its size enormous. She ordered the small bowl, which is much bigger than other restaurants' small size. And she was right. It was a huge-portioned, very chunky soup, stuffed with a lot of goodness. It's a meal in itself. We all left the restaurant fat and happy. My opinion of El Valle has been changed...for the better! They have fantastic food at excellent prices. (TIP: When you're done at El Valle, sneak around behind the building and discover Artisen, which serves Ecuadorian gelato for dessert. YUM!) read more

Horrible Experience It takes a lot for us to complain.. Mexican is one of our favorite foods, but not here. Seating and tables were unclean, staff is rude, brought out the wrong order, then when the right order arrived it was cold.. the waiter had an attitude, we asked for a new fresh plate rather than heat up the cold food and when that was finally brought out it was definitely the worst Mexican we ever experienced... it's on our do not return list.. horrible place . read more

I used to like El Valle. Now, I'm disenchanted with it. Tonight's margarita was undrinkable and the refried beans are so watered down they no longer qualify as a vegetable. Salsa was more acidic than prior visits. Considering removing from my list of place to eat. read more

Went here on a not so busy thursday night. Everything ftom service, ambience, cleanliness is sub par. The main disappointment is food... no flavor, taste at all. A lot of people said this is authentic mexican food and if it is I am happy ti say I like tex mex so much better than this. We goy combos and didnt touch the taco at all since we werr so disappointed with the chalupa abd enchilada. Waste of money, calories and time for me. read more

Not impressed, salsa was bland with no spice. APC was just rice, chicken and a little cheese. Waiter wasn't helpful as he left glasses empty and left Us waiting 10 minutes to pay while he was wrapping silverware in napkins. Prices too high. Taxco in Mint Hill is much better. read more

Excellent service always. Best homemade chicken soup around. Great family restaurant.

This place made me feel like home. I live in Southern California. I have traveled through all over Mexico. The food is made with love. The service was delightful! I was surprised to see everyone that works at El Valle speaks Spanish. The best food I have had outside of my city. Now do yourself a favor and order the Chilaquiles. You won't regret it! Thank you read more

Came in tonight for 2 shrimp tacos, 1 steak no onions no cilantro w a side of lettuce. The other party ordered a combo of a taco, rice and 2 beef enchildas. So the combo plate comes out first, 20 minutes later 2 shrimp tacos w reminates of cilantro come out. 5 minutes later comes the.steak taco, cooked med rare when asked for well done. 15 minutes later we are checked on, we tell what the issue is and our usual server who is awesome apologized and said the owner would be over. He never showed up. So we went to the counter and he acted like he couldn't care less. They used to be good, but when it take forever to put shrimp on a taco shell and the owner lays blame on others, time to move on. So keep on moving, dont bother stopping here. It is evident the owner doesn't care if you do nm or dont. read more

Look, it's inexpensive Mexican. If you want hipster guacamole options and fancy sea-to-table oyster tacos or something, go somewhere else. If you want EXTREMELY solid tacos, fajitas, etc at a great price - go no further. Tip - they have hot sauces you have to ask for special. Strong recommend. read more

This place has gone downhill so much. Retried beans had been watered down. Fajitas were just awful. Meat was tough. Rice was dry.

This place has a good variety of menu options. I had Chuy's Special, which consisted of grilled shrimp sautéed in garlic and covered in a cheesy sauce, served with rice, beans, and tortillas for $10.99. I absolutely LOVED the creamy, cheesy, garlicky sauce! I was also given plenty of plump, juicy shrimp. I would have liked black beans instead of refried beans with this dish, but I guess I need to take that up with whoever Chuy is! Boyfriend had the Mexican Flag Burritos, which consists of one grilled chicken burrito, one bean burrito, and one steak burrito. Each burrito is topped with a different type of sauce to give it the colors of the Mexican Flag (hence its name) - salsa, salsa verde, and cheese sauce. This dish is $10.99. Each burrito was delicious! Price is decent, and this place has all of your classic Mexican dishes plus it's decked out in colorful Mexican decor. Chips were not exciting, but otherwise, our Mexican food craving was satisfied. read more

El Valle more like El Crappe. I used to love this place but now the Fajitas don't even come out sizzling. Tonight after we ordered with the waiter we didn't see him again until after my wife was 1/2 done eating. How was mine? I wouldn't know my sizless fajitas did come with tortillas or sides. So I sat there watching my fajitas die and after checking with the family across from us dozens of times the waiter eventually came by to ask "how is everything" standing over my empty beer glass that had been sitting on the edge of the table (as a sign for a refill) but no that was not offered. Not one single refill was offered. Terrible service. read more

After reading other reviews from other restaurants nearby, we chose El Valle Mexican. I'm glad we did, I typically order the same thing at every Mexican restaurant, this place didn't have it on the menu, but I told the waiter and he made it the way I order everywhere else. My husband ordered the ACP, with chicken an cheese and rice. The wait staff was very nice, and helpful. Prices aren't crazy high, they are average. Sweet tea is good(southern style), as well as the chips and salsa( which wasn't very hot). However, it is chilly in the restaurant, if you get cold easy, bring a sweater. Otherwise, I recommend this restaurant for your Mexican food fix. read more
