So, we ordered one of each (easily split btw 3-4 ppl) and LOVED it!! My fav taco is the street corn taco with shrimp . Delicious sweet and savory. Our service was great the first night, but the second night it was a miss. They eventually advised us that they were in training at the moment. Stopped by prior to the Ice Storm we were getting ready for this January and in between shopping. I've been here before and tried their innovative tacos... service was a bit slow as there were only one waitress in our section it would take long until she would come back and or realize I was trying to her her attention. Apart from that she was friendly and helpful. We ordered the shrimp fajita and bc my daughter loves shrimp I asked if was spicy and even the queso they only have the one w jalapenos which I love but my daughter couldn't enjoy as much bc it became too Spicy for her. The horchata was too sweet - according to my 7 year old who loves sweets, I also tried and compared to our local taco place it was very sweet, she didn't event drink it and ordered water. I had the skinny margaritas which also not my favorite the alcohol portion was on point very nice and you could taste it which I appreciate it since I was cold outside, but the flavor was missing. Overall the food is good the prices and service are all very good. Ambience is traditional Mexican skeletons decor like dis de los muertos everyday. I went for lunch since I was in the area. Tried their lunch special and got the blackened shrimp tacos and steak tacos. There was absolutely nothing "blackened" on those shrimp. I wasn't impressed at all. The steak taco was ok but nothing to rave abt. And I asked for refried beans but hot black beans. I was on lunch break so didn't have the time or patience for the correction, but in any case doubt I'll be back unless it's just to try some drinks and eat free chips and salsa. We decided to try out Cantina Louie and were not disappointed!! The service was fast,decor in the restaurant is super fun. We started with the queso dip. It was huge! But honestly for the price not a bad deal and it was delicious! I ordered the protein bowl. It was really fresh tasting and very good. It came with a side of queso but honestly I thought it was better without. The kids meal portion was a large portion. We got grilled chicken and split it between the two little ones but would be a great size for one older child. They started to get busy as we finished up so we did have to wait a bit to get our boxes and check but overall great food and will definitely add this to our list of places to go! read more

The West Coast Burrito is the primary reason I come here. The food is good overall, but their burrito with fries is the best in this specific niche in Charlotte - at least in my experience. If you're in the Matthews area this is a nice alternative to the many other Mexican spots in the area. They have all the usual fare, and their salsa is tasty with just a hint of spice. I came in on a Saturday recently and while there was a decent crowd, we were able to grab a booth right away. They have a surprising cocktail list and my girlfriend elected to have one of their specialty margaritas. Unfortunately I can't remember which one but she raves about it. I decided to go with a $3.00 domestic beer to keep it simple. For food I went with the Cantina Quesadilla, and she ordered two tacos. Of course we had to start with queso though! The queso was cheesy and good but a little runny so it made a mess! Still enjoyed it though. We enjoyed all of our food. The walls are full of corny but fun decorations like skills, sombreros, they know the theme and they stick to it. I don't know if I would rank this as a top tier Mexican restaurant in the Charlotte area, but I'd rate it as solid, and if you are looking for reasonable prices on food and drinks in a fun and festive atmosphere, then it makes for a great night out. read more

I placed an order online today Saturday, March 21 ,2026. Ticket time 3:53 pm. When i walked in there were 4 ladies standing there. Neither spoke to me or asked if i could be helped. Two of them just started laughing. I didn't see what was funny. I am just a regular guy, wearing a t shirt, and jeans. I Iooked at one and told her that I had a mobile order for David. My food was not hot when I received it. I couldn't eat it because I don't like my food tepid. When I told our server my food was cold and I couldn't eat it he just said. "Ohhh...I'm sorry." He didn't offer to do anything about it. This was terribly disappointing because this place is a little pricey for Mexican food and I shouldn't have to leave food behind because I couldn't eat it. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Charlotte first of all. The vibe is good, they play good music and I like painting on the wall. Flor space is more open and brighter than typical Mexican restaurant. But I came here to eat and the portion is small, chicken breast is only one thin slice. It does taste good. There are layers of flavor but compare to your local Mexican restaurant they don't serve as much food at all Their drink menu is creative so I guess that's one of the attractive points in the menu. This was not our first time here. However, our first experience was as part of a private party. We opted to check them out due to their Tuesday specials. We ordered drinks (which we're on special) and munched on the complimentary chips and salsa. Everything was holiday themed. Staff all looked super cute in their holiday pjs. Santa came around to each table and gifted us with a free kids meal coupon. Our server also took our entree orders. I specified to her that my son was gluten free. He ordered three tacos on corn tortillas. Our food was delivered to the table and we all dove in. A few minutes into eating, my husband noticed that my son had two different types of taco shells. Only one was the corn tortilla he requested. The other two were flour. We immediately tried to get the attention of our server who never came to check on us once our food arrived (or refilled our chips as promised). My husband finally had to get up and go to her. She put in a corrected order but never came over to the table to speak to us. To top it all off, our server brought us the bill without asking if we wanted anything else. My husband was planning to order churros for dessert. Also, the server didn't tell my husband that the drink he was ordering was not on special. At that time, I requested to speak to a manager. Francisco was very apologetic and investigated to see just where things went wrong. He also made sure we received the correct tacos and offered to discount our entire meal for us. We also received the churros at no cost. Had it not been for Francisco stepping in, the review would have been much lower. But I appreciate everything that he did to make things right. First time here. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and inviting atmosphere. Decorations go well with the "street food" vibe here. Ashlee provided excellent service and our food choices arrived relatively quickly. We had ceviche as an appetizer. Very good, but felt the ingredients could have been cut into more manageable sized pieces. The California burrito was excellent and my partner had the combo chicken enchilada and beef taco. Quality outstanding. We felt the prices were fair. I had a margarita and my other half had a mimosa. The only complaint was that the drinks felt watered down, very weak on the alcohol side. I was craving a quesadilla and went out in a limb with this restaurant based on a Postmates order but WOAH is this spot good. I visited Cantina Louie a month ago with friends. I was shocked by what I experienced. In the past, I had only eaten the restaurant's food when I ordered from DoorDash. When we walked through the door, employees paid no attention to us...they had their backs to us and were gossiping. No one greeted us. Finally, a waitress walked up to us and stood staring at us. She finally grabbed menus and walked toward some tables. She flung the menus onto the table, mumbled something, and walked off. We noticed the table was still dirty and smelled of urine. We asked for a clean table. That table was also filthy. All I could think was, if the dining room looks like this, how dirty is the kitchen? We promptly left. Ok my new favorite Mexican restaurant. We were getting glasses at America Best and we're getting hungry. It was Monday and they have 4.99 margaritas which were great. I order the best Mexican salad I've ever had. I got it with chicken. Chicken was juicy lettuce was crispy and dressing was fantastic. My wife had the chicken fajitas which again were seasoned perfectly. Not pricy actually very reasonable. Had the opportunity to visit Cantina Louie while in Charlotte for Thanksgiving week and loved it. First, the restaurant is decorated extremely well with festive decorations and wall art setting the ambiance the minute you walk in. The menu is huge and has great options as well as a great cocktail menu with many different margarita options. In addition the daily special menu allows for the opportunity to sample many varieties at a discounted rate. We ordered the house, 1862, jalapeño, spicy watermelon, and spicy pineapple margaritas. As a starter we had the queso with chorizo which was fantastic. Between the five of us we tried the street tacos, surf and turf burritos deep fried, Chicken Louie Fajitas, and the Pineapple Al Pastor fajitas. This is a Mexican restaurant in Matthews. It's very Mexican American they have drinks specials. The restrooms are clean. The decor is appealing colorful bright and fun. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were friendly, but service was a little delayed nothing recommended. The food is not the best. The fish taco taste like it had honey mustard on it and the black and shrimp was cold like a ceviche. The chips that came with the chips and salsa I'm warm and delicious, but the salsa is not fresh. The drinks are loaded with sugar and not strong. Could be the bar tender at the time. it's affordable prices. Hi. I come to eat at Cantina Louie sometimes on my break from lunch. I work next door at the UPS store. Every time I eat here I get amazing service and food. The chips & salsa are always amazing. The food is affordable and tastes amazing which is fantastic. I came in today and ordered cilantro ranch because it is my favorite. The workers offered to give me a 12oz because i wanted to take it home with me. They originally said they only do 2oz and or 4oz. But they made it work for me. So i was happy. On top of that I got a neighborhood discount. Overall I really enjoy eating here. Thank you so much for your amazing service, food, and reasonable prices. I am very grateful. read more
