Salad with, Black Beans, Roasted Corn, Grilled Onions, Pickled Jalapenos, Avocado and Grilled Shrimp.

We hadn't been in a long time, it's about a 45 to 50 minute drive. We were near that side of town so we decide to head on over. Our daughter wanted to sit outside but the weather was so nice... everyone else wanted to sit outside also. We placed our order and as I remembered, from past visits, our food arrived in minutes. Our daughter had the Kid's Cheese Nachos with Chicken. My wife had the Judge Burrito and I had a Salad loaded with my favorite add one plus Shrimp. Everything was Tasty and Plentiful. All of the employees and management are always so Friendly and Helpful. We won't wait so long to come back. P.S. We need a location on our side of Charlotte..

I've ordered here several times and love the concept. They have loads of options to choose from. They have good portion sizes as well. I am most impressed that you can get guacamole and queso as one of your toppings for no additional charge. My favorite sauce is their ranch. The cilantro lime sauce is good on top of a bowl, but the ranch I can just eat with anything,it's so tasty. I love dipping the complementary chips in the ranch. However, I do feel like a lot of the toppings don't have much flavor. They are very bland to my palette. Taco Mama 2452 Park Rd Charlotte NC 28203 (Review 23 in 2024 and 823 overall)

This was my second time at this location and I was not disappointed. I'm a stickler for eating the same thing at my a favorite spots to not disappoint myself and I wasn't. I got a basket with the ahi tuna and grilled flounder tacos, side of queso and I tried the watermelon Margarita. The food was delicious as always and the margarita was alright, that was a new one to me as I tried it because the proceed went to child medical research, my norm is the sangria... holy crap that stuff is amazing. Great service as usual, plenty of seating inside and some extra out back.

The fish tacos

Order at the counter taco bar (burritos and other things too). Tacos come in groups of two, they have house suggestions and you can build your own (definitely the way to go) from a really large list of ingredients. I tried the steak and a fish (fried flounder) taco and a side of street corn. I ordered the steak with cilantro and onion, and the fish with their ancho chile slaw. Both on flour tortillas. The tacos come with the toppings under the protein, which is odd but okay. The steak was super tender but could have been marinated for some more flavor. The fish was good, I mean fried flounder, amirite? The meal came with a side of choice, I got the ubiquitous street corn, it was ok. It also comes with chips and salsa which were good. Excellent service at the counter, I tipped the woman who helped me get my order set up. Noisy, but a good atmosphere, everyone is friendly Recommend over Velvet Taco for both price and quality of food and experience

I came here with a friend for Cinco de Mayo, knowing before hand there would be a crowd. What I didn't expect was the absolute over the top service we received on one of the busiest days of the year. The food, as always was beyond expectations and the drinks were fresh and delicious. The owner is one of the kindest people and best business owners I've ever encountered. I was mentioning that I forgot to use my $5 off coupon I had been saving for this occasion and he immediately gave me a second without hesitation AND even went and reopened my tab to give me $5 back towards my meal. That is next level service! I always have an amazing experience at Taco Mama between the atmosphere, service, and AMAZING tacos! I will continue recommending this establishment to anyone who asks for a great spot in Charlotte!

Two tacos with side of guac - chorizo (left) and grilled flounder (right)

Really fun, fast casual Mexican spot! Diverse menu with both classic and Tex Mex options, and fun/eclectic interior. We came on a Tuesday night, and there was a short line out the door, but we were able to order within 10 minutes. After we ordered, it only took another 10 minutes to get our food. I ordered the two tacos and a side combo ($12-15) with one grilled flounder and one chorizo. In hindsight, probably not the best combination together, but both were good! Next time, I am eager to try the steak! I was pleasantly surprised at how loaded the tacos were. This is not one of those "tiny, half-full tortilla" type places! The tacos also came with a generous portion of tortilla chips, and I picked guacamole as my side, which was delicious. Overall, a crowdpleasing spot for a fast casual dinner.

BURRITO

I immediately had to review this place because the service was OUTSTANDING.. 10/10. I had been here before but felt like this time we were greeted immediately, the server explained everything on the menu and answered any questions. We went on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy - lots of space to sit and even a patio spot! The food was really great, I got the burrito with chips and queso & the seasonal watermelon margarita - so good!! The manager/owner (I'm not sure) checked in on me and my friend three times to make sure everything tasted okay.. he was seriously great, wish I would've grabbed his name!! Check this place out

Taco bout a great spot--taco mama is awesome! I absolutely loved their selection of margs --my favorites were the blood orange and the la playa which was a pineapple coconut flavor that transported me to the Caribbean. I wasn't crazy about the cucumber but if you want very light and refreshing it may be suitable for ya. I am obsessed with the founder salad! So good and the queso Fresca and house made dressings were just delicious on it. The having banging street corn and Mac and cheese and their chips and salsa go down too easy also. Wasn't crazy about the ahi tuna taco--wasn't bad just have had better. I wish it was a little bigger inside bc it definetly can get a little crowded in there. Overall great spot!!

Casual spot with great menu and friendly service. We came on Thurs night and there was plenty of seating. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Narrow menu of local brews with one IPA available. My bride ordered the Chicken Quesadilla ($12) and unfortunately for some reason it was super soggy/wet. I went with the The Mayor/Chicken Taco Basket ($12) and the ingredients were fresh - but overall the taco's and salsa were very plain. The black beans were the most flavorful part of the meal. We would come back again and try something different as we'd like to have this place as a quick option for a meal.

I ordered the carne asada and was genuinely excited, but it was a letdown from the start. They never asked how I wanted the steak cooked, which is a huge mistake. Then they covered the steak in cheese--why? That completely overpowered everything. I couldn't even taste the chimichurri. A suggestion: grill the steak properly and serve it simply. If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. On the positive side, the service was on point--our waitress was amazing. The inside was clean and had a kind‑of Mexican vibe going on.

It is rare to have a server who brings such a positive energy to the table, and Orhan definitely did that. I ordered the Burrito Basico with steak, and it was amazing. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the burrito itself was packed with fresh ingredients that all blended together so well. Every bite was full of flavor, and the portion size was more than worth it. Between the delicious food and Orhan's outstanding service, this was an excellent experience overall. We arrived around 130p and sat downstairs even though it was nice out and there's an upstairs bar, they said it was not available... They were advertising $1 mimosas for the holidays which is a steal, but to be honest, it was very OJ heavy which I guess is what you would expect. They are normally $3 so still a great price. There is a dedicated parking lot and street spots as well. It's a bright and colorful space with vibrant decor. We ordered an assortment of breakfast and birria tacos. I enjoyed my tacos especially being able to order à la carte, but the service was a bit slow even though it wasn't too busy or crowded. I would give it another chance for lunch or dinner. Or a taco Tuesday! They have daily specials so I think it's worth another shot. @azfitfoodfun

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
