My dad loves this place and invited me to try it out. There was a ton of parking spaces surrounding the building. The inside was clean and nice. They had such a big menu! You can try a wide variety of things here. I went with a torta with yuca fries to go. The food is fairly priced, especially considering how much you get. For example, a torta can easily be split between 3 people. I think it was a bit too dense for a dinner but I was happy to have leftovers. Whether alone or in a group, if you want to try news things and flavors, give the Meras Tortas a try!

If I can give zero stars I would but since I can't I'll just say it. 0 stars!!! I've been here the past two days because I usually have gone to the different location and it was yummy and everyone was so sweet... this location? Where can I start ? The cashier was nice the first day but my boyfriend's food the first day came out with a weird shell and a leaf ... in chicken tacos .. but he didn't have it until the next day while I was at work and waited until I was home to tell me about it. So me thinking it came out good when I got off work I came again to try it myself and it was dry, nasty and lacked flavor. I threw the rest away. The cashier this day really was lucky I was exhausted from work because she and her other staff gave off the worst customer service. DONT come here if you want authentic food and genuine customer service. I hope they see this too and remember who I was :)! And see if this review is as funny as their nasty attitudes and nasty food!

Sadly no more Taco Thursday deal and there is an up charge on the tacos now. Besides that, these tacos were as authentic as they can get. Flavorful and delicious! Packed with plenty of proteins and cilantro, as well as limes and radishes for the toppings. Just 4 tacos got me full. Ask for the salsa verde! The horchata is worth a try if you're craving a sweet, cold drink, but I wouldn't get it again. It was too cinammoney, if that's even a thing.

Só. Freaking. Good. I had been craving Mexican food and I decided to check this place out. It has a wide variety of food to choose from. They have a lot of meats but no seafood. No fish. No shrimp. I'm not big on that but my friend who was with me doesn't eat meat and that's how we learned of the no seafood. I ordered the Tijuana torta. My bf got a torta with bacon on it. It looked divine. My friend opted for sopas, elotes, and a side of fried plantain. She also got a back of burger flavored Takis. They tasted just like a burger. You can taste the layers of the burger which was awesome.,They forgot the plantain so we had to go back to pick it up. They made a new hot batch as well. The staff is super friendly as well. The food was nice and hot. The fries were delicious! The tortas are the size of my face. I gotta big head so it's huge. I'm currently fasting so I devoured the whole thing. Otherwise, I may have saved 1/2 for today. I highly recommend this place and I will be back for sure. They also have a bakery section and tons of drinks to choose from. You want Mangonadas? They got em for you. I've attached pictures so you can see all that they have to offer.

Great no-frills Mexican food. I had a good feeling once I walked in and saw a crowd in the dining area. The store has a large overhead menu right above the register. The temperature inside the store was a bit high for my liking, luckily the weather was great so we sat outside. We order the Jarocha torta, elote loco, and 3 tacos - lengua (tongue), rajas and carnitas. The torta, an overstuffed sandwich, was just that and could easily be shared between two. You can not go wrong with any of the tacos and the elote, Mexican corn, was amazing! I am looking forward to trying more of their menu from sopes, flautas, and their vast selection of desserts/pastries. Without a question, this is a place to visit to get some authentic Mexican food.

Want authentic Mexican tacos? GO HERE!! Ya'll I'm Mexican so trust when I say they are authentic!! sooooooo good. Its a little hole in the wall but those are always the best. I order the carne asada, pollo, al pastor, and chorizo tacos. They were all good but my top 2 were carne asada and al pastor ! Tacos are $1.99 and they also have other things like tortas and flautas that i have yet to try.

I ordered their super CHICKEN flautas. They have me some type of meat, that i didn't want to know what meat that was but it was NOT chicken i spent hrs throwing up after i tasted a bit of the flauta. It was very sad after i called to complaint the register lady was like "ok" and nothing after so i ended the call.

Steak tacos

So far best tacos I've had in Charlotte until right now. I always order steak tacos and each tacos are $1.99 no matter wether you want steak, chicken, spicy pork, or carnitas. This place don't look that good from outside tho but don't underestimate their food because it's so yummm. They serve authentic Mexican food here and u won't be disappointed if anyone want to try. But unfortunately, am giving 4 stars because they are under employees so they take order slow other than that it's all good.

Baleadas

Best Mexican restaurant hands down small business but the food is amazing I tried the Honduran Baleadas they were the best.

Food here is fresh with great portions as well. It's a true hole in wall but so worth the drive from where I live. I get their specialty- TORTAS. My go-to is the Hawaiian torta, my husband tried the Chilanga was good but a little heavy with the meats it had, definitely tried the barbacoa quesadilla. All the tortas come with French fries.

Chicken street tacos.

Found the restaurant thru a Mexican restaurant search and went based off of the reviews. The tacos, as people said, are excellent. Can't wait to go back and try the tortas.

A little place hidden away. The lady taking orders was very busy. She didnt have a lot of help and people dont stop coming in. The tamales are made with the banana leaf not the corn. My kids enjoyed. Tortas are huge!

Esteban V.

Man this place is LEGIT! These Tortas are the main attraction and they live up to their name. They are packed with flavor and overly stuffed with meats and toppings. I ordered La Mera Tijuana that is packed with chorizo, steak, cheese, jalapeños, lettuce and tomatoes. Let's not forget the side of fries and fresh Jamaica juice to round out the order. On the inside of the restaurant you will find fresh baked breads and pastries too if you have any room left in your stomach. This is truly a hidden gem and this restaurant needs to be on the map.

I ordered the carne asada and was genuinely excited, but it was a letdown from the start. They never asked how I wanted the steak cooked, which is a huge mistake. Then they covered the steak in cheese--why? That completely overpowered everything. I couldn't even taste the chimichurri. A suggestion: grill the steak properly and serve it simply. If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. On the positive side, the service was on point--our waitress was amazing. The inside was clean and had a kind‑of Mexican vibe going on.

It is rare to have a server who brings such a positive energy to the table, and Orhan definitely did that. I ordered the Burrito Basico with steak, and it was amazing. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the burrito itself was packed with fresh ingredients that all blended together so well. Every bite was full of flavor, and the portion size was more than worth it. Between the delicious food and Orhan's outstanding service, this was an excellent experience overall. We arrived around 130p and sat downstairs even though it was nice out and there's an upstairs bar, they said it was not available... There is a dedicated parking lot and street spots as well. It's a bright and colorful space with vibrant decor. We ordered an assortment of breakfast and birria tacos. I enjoyed my tacos especially being able to order à la carte, but the service was a bit slow even though it wasn't too busy or crowded. I would give it another chance for lunch or dinner. I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
