Mi Tierra 2 offers a nice, casual spot for Colombian food in Charlotte. I tried the desayuno mi Tierra which comes with arepa con queso, calentado, Colombian sausage, and pork rinds. The pork rinds were good, and the plantains were sweet, but the sausage lacked the typical chorizo flavor I was expecting. The breakfast was decent, though nothing particularly standout. The Colombian breads we took to go were definitely the highlight of the meal. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. It was a good experience overall, but I'd be curious to try the lunch or dinner menu next time. read more

Authentic Colombian food, bring your Spanish to communicate with your server. I had the Breakfast Fieldworker (Campesino) and it was epic in size. The avocado was excellent, the eggs and steak very good. I give a 4 instead of 5 because the monster rice dishes are absolutely packed with MSG. We had sleepiness and headaches before we hit the car. I've been to this restaurant three times now, and sadly this last visit was completely different from the great experiences I had before. The first two times, the food was incredible, the staff was amazing, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. That's why I was so disappointed this time. I ordered sobrebarriga, and the guiso was made with canned tomatoes. It had that sour, artificial taste that completely ruined the dish and took away the authentic Colombian flavor I had come to expect. This is not the quality I remember from my last visits, and it really made me sad because I had been looking forward to the same flavors as before. My plate was also supposed to come with a salad, but what I got was literally a tiny piece of lettuce and half a slice of tomato. My mom ordered a bandeja paisa, and her egg looked like it had been taken from another plate and placed on hers. It didn't look freshly made and honestly did not look appetizing at all (I even took pictures because it was that surprising). On the positive side, most of the servers were nice, and my server, Lina, was very attentive and kind. However, there was one staff member who seemed uninterested and just going through the motions. Overall, I don't know if the restaurant changed management or cooks, but the difference in quality is very noticeable. From what used to be one of my favorite Colombian restaurants, this experience left me disappointed. read more

After the Knicks vs Hornets game we decided to go to this Colombian Restaurant that we had previously been to and had been satisfied. Located in a large strip mall with ample private parking. You walk in to a festive atmosphere with Latin music playing. We were seated immediately and they accommodated our party of 11.....my Birthday crew! The waitresses were again on point and very attentive. The go to is always the "Bandeja Paisa", which is the Colombian typical country dish. It comes with steak, pork rind, sausage, fried egg, plantain, rice, beans and a tortilla. If this does not fill you I don't know what will. My wife always gets it and takes half home. I changed it up and got a skirt steak...."Entraña". This is by far the best cut of meat, thin, tender and juicy. It also comes with fried plantains, rice and beans on a separate plate!!! They have a thicker steak that is also great, called "Bistec a Caballo". Or they have. Creole style with tomatoes and onions. All these options are amazing. We were not satisfied with the beef empanadas this time as they seemed old and reheated. Everything else was amazing just like the first time. I wish we had a restaurant like this in the triad, until then, we will travel. read more

If you have never had a smoothie (batido), I promise you it will change your life. You can get it made with water or milk based. Lulo and passion fruit are the more traditional but the blackberry is my favorite. The service here was so amazing. What stood out most is the patience. My family are picky eaters and so when I walked back with a plate they all gave me a where in the world did you go look? The servers gave them their recommendations to try and to see their face light up once they tried was all that I needed to see. Food was ok, nothing like i was expecting. Really thought i was gonna enjoy some real authentic food but it was plain and boring the mixed rice and beans was good, the chicken definitely was the best thing on the plate, the empanadas were was off, this place is nothing like Los Paisas in pineville, which is where we normally go but i just didn't wanna drive that far today so we tried this place instead b/c it's in my neighborhood, bit disappointed. The ambiance and restaurant itself was clean and welcoming, music was GREAT Service was eh the waitress never came back to check on us, she never came to give us refills or ask how anything was going so that was disappointing again, but overall she was nice. YUM! Found this with my Latino husband and Colombian In-laws- they approved too, so you know it's legit! :) The juices are super fresh and tasty. :) We started with the empanadas. We tried the chicken and the beef. They were very good, nice and crispy. :) My suegra and I had my go-to Colombian dish Bandeja Paisa. It was great- the beans, plantains, and chorizo we're AMAZING. The rest on the plate was really good too. Our daughter had the kids chicken soup with rice- delicious! My husband loved his large platter of meats and carbs. ;) My suegro enjoyed his dish too, and restaurants have a hard time impressing him. So, this was a win! Great food and service! I came at lunch one time and then came a different day with a big group of 18 people; both times were great. Most of the people in my group had never tried Colombian food before and they all left full and happy. The lunch specials are such a good deal. You can order breakfast all day. If I could not give any stars I would, the waitress with glasses skinny is the rudest server I have ever encountered, we didn't even sit down before she was pushing empanadas on us, hadn't even had a chance to glimpse at menu before asking what we wanted for the meal, asked to have a few minutes and she never came back. We paid for the disgusting empanadas and left, she still never came back. Drove 35 minutes just to come here, proven to be a mistake. Would not recommend at all. read more

This is the second location of the Mi Tierra on South Blvd. in Charlotte NC. I had my birthday dinner here and they were so kind and accommodating (14 people) They have some fresh baked goods (Pan de Bono y Buñuelos) for sale as well as sodas (Colombiana, Pony Malta, Postobon Manzana and regular American sodas) and juices (Jugos HIIT) from Colombia at the cash register. They serve many different traditional dishes and all are quite good. The Pan de Bono - if you don't know what it is - I would define as a small cheese bread cloud from heaven. These are the closest ones in Charlotte to the ones in Colombia. My heart was so happy when I found them. This place also serves breakfasts and has different specials, at least 2, every day, that are listed on their website. The service was great. The menu is in English and Spanish. Rating just as ok for now, mainly due to service. I visited on a Sunday for breakfast, and the server had such a hard trouble explaining the dishes in Spanish itself, and didn't even know if their Corn cakes -Arepas- and their cheese ball bread were sweet or savory. Plus throughout the entire time we were there, after already bringing our food and coffee refills, she kept overly asking if we needed to order more, when we obviously said no several times. It felt a bit uncomfortable, as if she was trying hard to sell us into ordering more dishes or getting the table back, though it was quite empty at the time. Food overall was good, but I've had better local Colombian food. Ambiance was nice, and prices were at par with others. Or maybe The Paisas (other local Colombian restaurant who actually recommended this place for their breakfast), maybe they have spoiled me with their outstanding extraordinary service. I will soon go back again to this one, just for the benefit of the doubt, anyone can have a bad day now and then. read more

Mi Tierra has three locations in CLT, but this is probably my favorite... not because the others are not as good but because this is the closest and also might be the largest of the three. This is the only one we have dined at however, usually we just get pandebonos or empanadas from the bakery section, which all three seem to make equally as well. My wife is Colombian and we have visited a few times, so I can say that these empanadas are some of the best I've seen for sale either here or in the motherland so definitely worth trying. So if you are looking for authentic Colombian cuisine or if you just saw encantó and want try any of the different foods they are eating throughout the movie, this place has you covered. Definitely get a juice (which are more like a smoothie), I like mora (blackberry) personally, oh and empanada de carne is my favorite vs de pollo. (Beef better than chicken) Cheers! read more
