Todo muy rico! Que bueno encontrar una opción boricua. Comimos mofongo con churrasco. Great option for puertorican food

Since our "go to" Puerto Rican in Monroe closed we've been hurting for our Mofongo fix and alcapurrias. We've eaten here when it was a Brazilian restaurant and it was meh ok, and now that it's a "Puerto Rican" restaurant it's meh ok. The prices are definitely reasonable and the menu has a lot of traditional Puerto Rican dishes and appetizers. They also have Mofongo and Trifongo. The Mofongo could be wetter or perhaps served with a side of garlic sauce to wet it up. The pernil was good as was the Chicharron. We enjoyed the Alcapurrias and the bacalaitos. The service was ok, I didn't get any Boricua vibes from any of the servers which was noticeable. Puerto Ricans have a magnificent charm about them and it was not present in any of the staff. Perhaps the Rican is in the kitchen, but their are no Boricuas in the front of the house. They didn't have any good desserts, but the Parcha was good.

My wife and I discovered this place while we were out shopping in Minh Hill. Wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. I had the Pernil Mofongo and she had the Chicharrones Mofongo. Both were very authentic. Nice portion sizes and very tasty. We had Tres Leches for dessert, which was also wonderful. We'll definitely be returning. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Made sure we had the best experience.

Food is amazing, it was my 3rd time visiting and finally it was a new face who greeted me. Much better then the person before who was sort of rude and made me feel like I was a nuisance. This third time was gonna dictate my final review and thankfully for them the young lady who served me was very kind. Food has always been top tier so if you're looking for delicious Puerto Rican food, definitely the spot to try.

Good news: Saturday's lunch Feijoada is still on! And generous as always, we ended splitting one portion and taking the other one home. Also Portuguese is no longer the official language, Spanish is. I'm not giving it a fourth star because the casserole was all pork with hardly any black beans in it to give it consistency and the Morcela ( aka Morcilla or Black pudding ) was MIA -luckily we got some in the freezer and that shortcoming will be taken care of. At 2 pm we were the only customers there and I got a little worried but soon people started arriving for take-outs and dine-in. Only one person behind the counter, she was new at it and a bit overwhelmed I'm sure she's going to get caught up real soon.

Finally we do have an AUTHENTIC Brazilian restaurant in town. The menu is not huge but it has all the main dishes you would find in a traditional brazilian restaurant. I have decided to try the burger (because Brazilian burgers are different) and it was indeed pretty authentic. They also do have fresh brazilian salty snacks fried upon order, so it will be very fresh! You will also find a great selection of brazilian deserts, including cakes and mousses. Service was spectacular too, very impressed with this place and I hope it stays this way and it can branch it out around town!

I just loved it! Food felt very homemade, everything freshly made and delicious. We ordered picanha and milanesa. They served us fast, restaurant was clean, the dessert was good. And the food was very delicious My baby eat all her food! ** she's a picky eater** The lady that served us was very nice

Strogonoff de carne Their very best meal I believe. It is too delicious to be true!

I was here for a business lunch. The place is spotless clean and very cozy! The front desk is so pleasant, welcoming sweet and forthcoming that you will have your best lunch here I guarantee. The the menu is very easy to read and they have pics and promos for the day. Food is freshest and all well put together, I looks so nice on a plate, you wanna take a pic of it. Come here!

After one meal here, we understood why. Calle Sol has a cool laid back vibe, great service, strong mojitos, and food that absolutely delivers. The ceviche is the star for a reason. Super fresh with bright flavor, and the crispy plantains alongside it were the perfect seafood fish combo. The skinny spicy margarita with the tajín rim and mojitos were excellent too. Our favorite was the Cuban rice. Rich flavor with this aioli on top that made everyone at the table keep stealing bites from each other. The vaca frita (beef) had great flavor with crispy edges done right, and the banana tres leches dessert was flat out dangerous. Easily enough for three people unless your family has zero self control. We don't really have Cuban food like this back home, so this felt like a treat. Safe to say our daughter picked a winner. We'll definitely be back next trip to Charlotte.

Pisco sour: definitely taste the alcohol. I enjoyed it. A little sweet. Not really sour or I couldn't taste it. Chichamora: spiced drink. Light tangy fruity flavor. Like a light punch. Fried yucca and cheesy: 4 stars. Yummy yucca balls filled with cheeses you have to eat hot for the gooey cheesiness but be careful because the are hot. Make sure to eat with the dip for next level flavor. Shrimp ceviche: 3.5 stars. Different toppings provided different flavors (I.e. crunchy corn, sweet potatoes, salty plaintains chips, & soft corn kernels) texture but I wished there was more shrimp and a slight more acidity or lime juice. Also some of the fried corn kernels were burnt so it had bitter taste. Vaca Frita:Garlic/onion shredded braised beef. 4.5 stars. Came with beans, rice, and yucca mash. Overall the flavors were good and I really enjoyed it.

Hubby got the fried fish and liked it. I got their fish and shrimp peanut soup. Omg it was divine !!! That soup had amazing flavor !!! There was plenty of tuna and a few shrimp. The tuna seemed to sink to the bottom and was a bit dry. Next time I think I would get just shrimp, but the broth was delicious and unusual. We got one savory and one sweet cheese empanada. I highly recommend the savory one with it's melted goodness. I got the flan for dessert. It was good. But my favorite was the morocho that I took home to enjoy. It is a hot liquid beverage that reminds me of rice pudding. It was so yummy !!! We loved this place so much we came back again the next week on a Saturday. This time we tried the beef empanada. Hubby got the pork chops and I got the carne asada. Both came with rice, lentils, and small salad. The lentils were a little watery, but had decent flavor. I put them over the rice and that helped. They have a small jar of homemade salsa that was so good, I slathered it all over every bite of my carne asada. My plate came with tostones that were good and hubby's plate came with maduros. For dessert, I got the morocho to consume at the restaurant. Our waitresses were very nice both nights and spoke English. The owner checks on tables during the meal, which is admirable. My husband and I were the only non-latino people there, which is always a good sign the food is delicious. The first time we were there, the place was decorated for Valentine's Day. The second time, it was decorated for Easter. Highly recommend this place !

From the moment you walk in, you feel it -- the music, the vibe, the warmth. The live band sets the tone with classic Cuban rhythms that make the entire place feel alive. It's not just background music -- it's part of the experience. The sound fills the room without overpowering conversation, creating that perfect balance between lively and intimate. Now let's talk about the food -- because it's outstanding. I ordered a plate featuring tender, slow-braised shredded beef in a rich, savory tomato-based sauce. The meat was incredibly flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and fall-apart tender -- you can tell it's been cooked low and slow the right way. The sauce had depth, with hints of garlic, peppers, and warm spices that tied everything together beautifully. It was served alongside perfectly cooked rice (dark and flavorful, likely infused with beans and seasoning), sweet fried plantains that were caramelized just right -- crispy edges, soft centers -- and a fresh, crisp salad to balance the richness. Every component on the plate complemented the other. Nothing felt like an afterthought. The presentation was generous and rustic, exactly what you want from authentic Cuban comfort food. The service was welcoming and attentive, and the overall ambiance makes it a great spot for: * Date nights * Celebrations * Dinner with friends * Or just a night out where you want great food and live music El Puro isn't just a restaurant -- it's an experience.
