Have to say, what an AMAZING experience. My wife has been recommending this place for lunch for weeks and we finally went in today. We sat at the bar and our bartender Bree was so friendly and had amazing service ! They have a beautiful inside environment, with a good selection of beers! We tried the street tacos and got some chosen by suprise, and was not disappointed! When we were finished, the gm Mike hooked us up with some of the BEST churros in town and satisfied our sweet tooth after great tacos. We will definitely be back again, thank you guys! read more

Hate to have to write this because i was looking forward to to trying this location. Unfortunately the tempe location was disappointing to say the least. Party of 2 walked in and 10 minutes go by without being acknowledged. It was kind of a weird setup for a Saturday afternoon, you had to order at the bar and not at the counter. Nonetheless, we were disregarded (it was pretty dead too). We decided to opt out and go to taco chelo instead (highly recommend). Nothing against rusty taco cuz i weirdly LOVE the washington dulles airport location. However, tempe... you really let me down. Way over priced tiny taco!!! We ordered for different tacos. Nothing stood out to talk about..... $4.25 for 1 maybe 2 oz of pork! I feel sorry for the story with students surround this area!!!! $8.00 for a tiny picture of margaritas (2 small cups ) 95% ice We poured the margaritas in to teo small cups that they use for her to go water. Trust me and try it! I think they're 3 to 4 ounce cups so you might get 10 -12 of lemonade out of that picture I guess I said limited because there's no tequila in it Weak tequila! The bartender said they put three bottles of bottom shelf in each container of but there's no way you could not taste tequila at all.!!!!! I have bartend for over 40 years and I can tell if there's tequila in my drink....it might've been say or two old and diluted, but you could barely get a hint of bottom shelf, tequila, upgrade, and go top shelf. I thought Jon Taffer was going show up. The experience was so horrible! We ordered 6 different tacos, if you have no tastebuds and expectations on flavor do not eat here. Queso was definitely too salty. The beer on tap was good and the strawberry margarita was ok. Service was ok, there was a creepy older male that only spoke to the younger girls it was uncomfortable. Came during happy hour & we were the only party there on a Thursday evening before new years, plenty of seating and good atmosphere for hanging out!! Margaritas weren't strong and tots in breakfast taco were not the greatest but chips and guac were okay. Tacos were pretty good, I tried the fried chicken ones and the flavor was unique and texture wasn't bad. I've never tried anything like it but I overall enjoyed it. However it did taste like the ingredients had been left out / weren't freshly made, and it was a little dry and not very warm. My boyfriend had the same fried chicken taco as well as the fajitas one, and they absolutely destroyed his stomach for the whole next day. Probably wouldn't come back here. read more

I'm rating the restaurant and not the bar. Bar five stars super cute location and setup. Definitely look into getting a Dj because the restaurant isn't giving its full potential. Kinda gives me shitty illegal Pete's food vibes. Loco has roughly the same tacos but better at the same price. I am only writing this review because I live down the street and I need a new taco place to eat. But I probably won't try it again. Maybe just apps. Boyfriend said the bowl was good but had to add all the meats for it to be a hearty bowl to eat. :/ good for the price. manager definitely shouldn't be sitting and not asking how the food was to the guest especially on the first weekend. Or snapping slightly at a bartender about not running food. Just assist her... a manager isn't a boss but a teacher. Do as you preach and deal with her management later. I would consider myself a regular at Rusty Taco since they've opened recently. Majandra is my regular server/bartender and she makes the experience all the better. Mexican food is my personal favorite and it's an easy grab from my house when I go to class or just a perfect place to be to end my day. Majandra always serves me quickly, is very personable as well as kind, and goes above and beyond to show that she cares about her customers. I'd highly recommend the Fried Shrimp taco as well, that was her recommendation to me. Overall, Majandra is always working to make the atmosphere of Rusty Taco a place where anyone from all walks of life can come in, sit down, have a nice drink and great food. Thanks MJ! read more

I ordered flour tortillas, and confirmed with the bartender three times. My tacos came in corn tortillas. The brisket that I ordered was closer to beef jerky than brisket. They slathered it in sweet baby rays bbq sauce to try and hide the texture. The tacos weee terrible. No one checked on us after we got our food despite the fact that I took one bite and pushed it to the edge of the table. The big blonde guy who seemed to be the manager was more worried about looking tough than taking care of patrons. Avoid this place. There are better tacos on mill. I've been dying to try this taco place since I live upstairs. I was so excited to make this place my new regular spot!! I ordered the chicken taco and the nachos. Subpar. I was a bit disappointed since Tocaya (right across the street) has such high-quality tacos and bowls - I expected the same quality from Rusty. The chicken in my taco didn't have much flavor and was nearly as hard as a rock. The nachos were okay--a big pile of tortilla chips with tomatoes and chicken. Since I ordered to go, they gave me the queso topping on the side, which I appreciated, so my chips didn't get soggy. Queso was very yummy, but overall, the dish didn't feel like nachos since the chicken was in chunks and not pulled. If you're looking for bomb tacos and bowls - skip Rusty's and head across the street to Tocaya. I'm not sure if I'll order again...we will see. Still have yet to try the margs! read more

Ive been going here since they opended and it used to be such a good place but its AWFUL now. Recently when i get chips they're sooo stale and taste old (this happened 3 times in a row and happened to my friends). They took off all the best items from the menu (picadillo taco, spicy fried chicken taco, street corn). Everything else on the menu is trash. And the breakfast tacos are always cold. Food was ok. Not "amazing, we have to come back!" for sure. When we first got there we went to the "line" and the gentlemen was super nice, we started to order and mentioned wanting a beer and he suggested we sit at the bar so we can just do everything together, ok, perfect! New favorite spot! Lorin helped us right when we walked in and was very professional, extremely friendly, and full of personality. It was my first time and I wasn't sure what to order. However, Lorin was very attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. With that, my food came out so fast, fresh, and delicious. I got the fish tacos and my kids got the quesadilla and tots! It is a bar with tacos. The tacos are a little on the pricey side but they are out quickly. They get annoyed if you forget to ask for your food to-go as they have to re-wrap the tacos. Cramped and loud so don't go here during bar hours if you want to eat there. As a bar it's fun but there isn't much bar space. Good place to sit down at a table and get a bunch of drinks. read more

Stopped In with the whole family before an ASU game one week. The food was amazing, down to the kids menus-which they gobbled up along with their Caramel filled Churros!! We had the best customer service from Lauren, who politely & patiently explained each item on the menu & made sure our orders were 100% correct (my husband is a picky eater). Was very impressed with how quick our food was ready, even on a game night when the place was packed & they went above & beyond to make sure we had a great experience. I came here expecting any old taco joint, what this manager (i forgot his name sorry) did to my first rusty taco experience blew me out of the water! He recommended the fish tacos and strawberry margarita (I would've had three but I'm watching my figure) and everything was 10/10 perfect. This is now my one and only fav taco joint to go to.
