I love Fuzzy's and everyone compares this place to it, so while checking out UNT we decided to give it a go. Tried a fish taco, the rusty taco (pulled pork) and black beans. The smallest amount of fish on a taco I've ever seen. Absolutely no flavor and the corn tortillas weren't even warm. Made for a complete rubbery exterior, so I just ate the inside slaw. The rusty taco, while it had a nice kick of heat, was absolutely nothing special. I left most of it. The black beans were ok, although the sunflower seeds mixed in were weird. Fuzzy's is so much better. The employees here are loud and annoying and you can't speak because they yell at each other. Won't be back. read more

This is a phenomenal taco place that's always packed, no matter the time of day. Not only are the prices cheap, but the food is just as good. I ordered the chips and guac, and two tacos: the fried chicken taco and the fried fish taco (My friend ordered the same thing, just with all the toppings in it). There was a huge amount of chips (chip refills are also free), and while the guac wasn't as seasoned as I would have liked, it was creamy, flavorful, and only $3. The tacos keep me coming back for more. The fried chicken taco had two strips of fried chicken inside, which had a thick breading and a great crunch. The fried fish was amazing - fried perfectly on the outside but soft enough to melt in my mouth on the inside. The sauce it was paired with was also a spicy kick. It's worth it. I cannot stress this enough but thier churros are one of the best I have tried so far. I don't care what other's say and judge me about it but it is literaly so freaking good. The caramel inside it is the best freaking part! They also have really good happy hour which is super cheap! I got thier queso which was pretty good. Im not a big fan of margaritas but they make thiers fairly strong which is nice. I got tacos once too which was small but pretty good. A great place to hang out and eat! read more

So at this point I think I'm a semi-regular. I've been here a number of times, and I think I've had every taco except the shrimp one. Missed it I guess. But I was here for a little food and bar crawl and this was our third stop. Thank you to Heather and the staff at Rusty because they treat our group really well. I am not a margarita drinker AT ALL, but I tasted the watermelon jalapeno margarita and was actually impressed. We all enjoyed our tacos and the general consensus was that the Habanero salsa was the best thing to put on the tacos. They need to bottle and sell it. It was a hot one out but the patio area was pretty decent with the misters going and a few of the group tried the ring ross game.... and no one hooked the ring. I had the Baja Shrimp Tacos (fried) and the %10 Original. Can't find the words to describe it! They were the perfect taco size and it hit just the spot ! Very friendly pup but the employee who told me to leave was INSANELY rude about how he came about it. Didn't even give me a chance to talk to him when he explained they don't "allow reactive dogs". I feel terrible for the employees, they work with what they got. This review is for the owners and management, honestly you guys should take a look what is going on in your store. Understaffed is always an issue when I walk in, the employees look dreadful, they always seem to hate their jobs without a smile on their face. Funny enough, I highly doubt the owners will look at this review, it shows the owners just see the employees as dollar signs or replaceable. This use to be my favorite taco joint to come hang out, but the vibe is dead whenever you are greeted with depressing employees who clearly seem to hate their job. If you're on the square and looking for decent tacos I would recommend checking this place out. The fried chicken taco and the grilled shrimp taco are both pretty good, but nothing that special. However their happy hour deal is amazing! All appetizers and margs are 1/2 off so you can get bottomless chips, queso, and guacamole for $3. Their margaritas are STRONG (mix of tequila & everclear) and the flavors are great and only $2 during Happy Hour. They're the only place in Denton that I know of that has mango margaritas and they are delicious! Overall there are definitely better tacos places in Denton but their happy hour deal is one of the bests! read more

Love this place! I got 6 different types of taco's and they were all delicious. There is both outdoor and indoor seating. I will go back here the next time we go out to Denton. Only negatice was at 7 oclock at night they did tell us they wrere out of some of their ingredients and were unable to make some of their tacos. read more

I am 52 years old and I have never left a yelp review. I am from Houston and HANDS DOWN...The Rusty Taco not only has the BEST Tacos I have EVER had...and the Queso is to die for! The brisket taco was awesome but the grilled Cod Taco was OFF THE HOOK! The flavor and taste was not fishy and had incredible flavor...I can't say enough. Oh, one more thing...the mango/strawberry/frozen margarita hit the spot! Not too sweet and not too tart...just perfect! You gotta try this place...it will NOT disappoint! read more

I got the shrimp taco and chicken taco. The taco prices were okay for one taco ~$2.50. They were both tasty, but there wasn't much of it. There's also different sauces that you can add to your tacos. The place was busy when I came, so I had to sit in the outdoor area which was nice but it was chilly. The staff was friendly. The tortillas are corn, so keep that in mind - I know some people prefer flour. I also got their "cheap" margarita - it's advertised as that, so I'm not being mean! It's $5 and I drank maybe half of it. I thought maybe they were being silly about the name, but no. I got immediate indigestion. They have a pretty good bit going, but I think there are similar setups where the tacos are tastier. It's a Dallas chain, and not quite as good as Fuel City but it hits the spot. I like it certainly better than Fuzzy's. We tried the Rusty (pork topped with grilled pineapple salsa), the piccadillo (ground beef with onion & potato), pulled pork, brisket and baja shrimp. Queso and guacamole with chips. I liked the piccadillo for sure but will try one of the vegetarian options next time as well. The guacamole was ok, nothing special, as was the queso. The pitcher of Shiner for $12 wasn't bad either. Next time, I'll skip the sides. Two tacos are plenty. The standout was the creamy habanero salsa, which I'm determined to squeeze onto everything. So, it's not quite the perfect taco stand, like the ones you find in a gas station but it hits the spot if you're looking for something quick, light and cheap. read more

I've had many weird experiences here over the few years I've lived in Denton. It gets so crazy here during happy hour, (crazy cheap drink specials) especially when it's about to end...while university classes are still in session. The margaritas are a hit or miss...literally. The sangria swirl and jalapeño watermelon are good, when they're not completely out of them (which happens almost every time I've been there). The food is below average, especially for the price. If you've been there a few times, you know which tacos are terrible and which ones are edible, at best. If you're vegetarian, just forget about it. You have two options and they're both very weak. Everyone goes there solely for the drinks, which is just about the only thing going for them. I saw that they've tried adding new menu options, but I wasn't too impressed. The staff always seem super stressed, and the front kitchen always looks like a hot mess. Also, about a year ago I saw one of the cashiers cry at the register because she was so overwhelmed by the crowd trying to grab their drinks before happy hour, so much so that she accidentally ran my card 5 times. It all got sorted in the end, but I never saw her again after that day. Like I said, strange things at Rusty's. Come for the drinks, go for food literally anywhere else. read more
