I moved to California from DC 6 months and change in climate really dried out my hair. I was coming to Richmond to visit my boyfriend's family for the holidays. I stepped off the plane and my hair was a giant mess of tangles so I decided my hair needed a fresh start. I found this place on Yelp and it had great reviews so I called to make an appointment. Luckily, they had an opening the very next day! I came in to see Alden and he took my hair that was down to the middle of my back and cut it into a long bob just below my shoulders. Even though I have had short hair in the past, i have had long hair for a few years and I was a little nervous to cut off 5 or 6 inches. Alden understood my somewhat unusual hair texture (fine, wavy, and lots of it) and the fact that I don't put a lot of effort into styling it. He took care to not cut it into one even length so he razor cut it (which I wanted and didn't even have to tell him) so that I wouldn't have to devote a ton of effort into making it nice. Razor layers work with my hair's natural tendency to wave. I took a leap of faith in letting a complete stranger chop off my hair and it turned out well. Fairly easy to get to, plenty of parking lot space. When I walked in, the receptionist greeted me warmly and guided me to their waiting room. As I walked to the waiting room, I looked around and it was quite impressive. Clean, very well lite, great interior decor, and plenty of stylists. I got a great vibe and I sat and waited for my stylist. When I finally met her, she was super soft spoken, gentle and kind. Her technical skill as a stylist was amazing too. She knew exactly what I wanted after discussing a plan for the design. After the cut, i got a wash and definitely enjoyed the way my hair came out. Totally recommend people to give this salon a try. I paid about $40 for a men's hair cut. A little more towards the pricey side, but worth it. read more

I was looking for a salon In Richmond. Having just moved here prior to Covid, I took my time. Rustique was not only professional, followed social distancing guidelines, and mask wearing. They also delivered an awesome highlight and cut. I also saw Nellie who gave a great COVID safe semi- facial treatment involving neck, arms, feet and under eyes. Masks are worn the whole time. I came to Richmond from San Francisco. I didn't have time for a haircut so I decided to check out Rustique and Joy ... and boy was I happy! To give some context, I have literally cried after receiving haircuts because either the stylist didn't listen to my directions or the haircut was just so bad that all I could do was cry and console myself with the fact that my hair would grow back. Rustique was not that experience. From the check in to the shampoo to the haircut it was all awesome. Joy was attentive to my directions on a haircut while making constructive suggestions and turned me onto a fabulous new hair product for my curly hair. If you have curly hair, you know how hard it is to find a stylist who (a) knows how to cut curly hair and (b) a product that takes away frizz without weighing down your hair. Can't wait to visit Richmond again and have Joy cut my hair! read more

I've been getting cut by Kristine for about 3 years now and will follow her where ever she goes. This salon is much more comfortable than some of the other salons I've hit up in Richmond. Staff is friendly, place is spotless clean, and just like I would hope it smells like I died and went to relaxation heaven. PS... if you're a dude, just ask her to make you sexy. Don't bother trying to explain how you want your hair because I'd bet money she knows better than you do. read more

I have been coming to Rustique for about two years. First for the Brazilian Blowout treatment, and now cuts, colors and facial waxing in addition to the BB treatment. The location is wonderful, very close to my house. Chris does my hair and he is wonderful. Always on time and works with me to learn what I want. He is a master at his craft, and can do my Brazilian Blowout in less than 2.5 hours! I recently started seeing Nele for waxing services and I am very happy with her work. Her spa room is very relaxing and you do not hear the hustle and bustle of hair dryers and tools while you are with her. I am really looking forward to booking a facial sometime with her. All in all, I love Rustique and I am so happy to have a great home for hair and waxing services! read more

This salon is nothing short of amazing! The products are incredible- I'm addicted to the entire Comfort Zone skin care line. Brandon and Chris keep my hair blonde and healthy, and Nele's facials are beyond. If you haven't seen Nele, it's a must. I've seen many aestheticians in Richmond and I refuse to see anyone else but her now. The facial always leaves me glowing. I highly recommend this salon and spa! read more

I really never write reviews but I figured it might help someone looking for recommendations for a Brazilian blowout. I had an appointment with Brandon. He was amazing, down to earth, and so so sweet. He recommended a route for correcting my color and then did the Brazilian blowout process, along with a trim. I have naturally very curly and thick frizzy hair. It's been a week and my hair has never felt so soft. It's drying to a nice and shiny soft wave and I'm just in love. I won't sugarcoat it though, it was pretty pricey. I spent close to 500 for all of the procedures (Brazilian blowout, all over color, and trim) but it was well worth it. read more

I am a client of Sherri Mischico Tuminello's and Nele Marston. Let's talk about Sherri first. When I first came to Sherri my hair was dry, brittle, and a split end nightmare. I wanted long, healthy, red (I'm a natural blonde, kinda) hair and Sherri worked with me to achieve it. Listen to your stylists, they know what they are talking about! Sherri is an amazing colorist, I've seen her create the most beautiful and natural reds and does gorgeous blondes and highlights. I have also seen her save hair after bad cuts and color from other salons. I live in DC now, and I have yet to find someone who can cut my hair as perfectly as she does. I drive 2 hours to see her in 95 traffic, she is that good! She is professional, patient and cares a considerable amount for her clients. And it shows, because of Sherri my hair is long, healthy, natural ginger, and thicker than it's ever been. And I get more compliments on my hair than I've ever gotten in my life. If you have hair goals or want to try something new, go see Sherri. She will get you where you need to go! But pre-book, the woman is popular and books up fast! Now for Nele. Nele is the esthetician, she has years of experience and expertise. She helped me shape and grow out my brows after I over tweezing them. I also have hyper sensitive skin that is a dry/oily combo (the worst) and Nele always figures out a way to have me glowing by the end of my visit. Her facials are sublime, the spa uses great products that feed your skin and keep in youthful. She will cater to whatever your skin needs! Skincare is a necessity! read more

My hairstylist passed away unexpectedly, was looking for a new stylist. Kristine Kaliebe was recommended to me so I stopped in to talk with her, spur of the moment. LOVED her, and made an appt for the next week. She's very pleasant, easy to talk to, I felt a connection with her personally. AND she gave a great cut. She talks to you about what you want, uses great cutting and styling techniques, and explained a few styling things that I didn't know about - and I'm not young... I will definitely go back to her, and likely will get cuts more often since the experience with her was so positive.
