Glo-Out scheduled appointments for myself and a family member for a wedding day blow-out over a month in advance We got to the salon early and it was CLOSED! Trying not to panic, we started to call around and found a very empathetic person that worked us into the schedule at MOXIE Salon. Well the blow out was good ! But !!!! I experienced some horrible allergic reaction it's 3 weeks now and I'm still on Zyrtec and prednisone. I got so sick I got a Epipen . My ears started itching right after the blow out . Face swelled up and hands and head with large hives . I am so traumatized I'm scared to wash my hair . I have never experienced this . I recently went too allergist . I'm desperate . My 30 dollar hair blow had now cost me like 300 dollars in tests and meds . Someone help !! Nikki thank you for response but at this point I'm just miserable . It's bedtime and I'm up with ice packs . High on meds. Swollen from prednisone . It's been a nightmare . Allergist thinks there might be more in the hair products . I would not wish this on a dog . read more

I visited Glo-Out for eye makeup in advance of a wedding I was attending. I am from out of town and booked my service based on the Yelp reviews. The definition of 1 star 'Eek! Methinks not' exactly sums up my experience. The staff was very nice, but the makeup was terrible. Imagine allowing a 4 yr old to do your makeup and voila, that's what mine looked like. Funny enough, the 'artist' mentioned to me how important it was 'blend' and nothing about the shadow looked blended. Blotchy was much more like it. I greatly regret not taking a photo to post here, but I washed all of the makeup off as soon as I got back to the hotel. Once seen, words would no longer be necessary. In summary, the lady who did my makeup simply did not have the skill set. Save the $20 and do it yourself. read more

This review is for a spray tan. I was in Charlottesville for my wedding weekend and needed a little glow for my wedding. Nikki was SO accommodating. Myself and two other bridesmaids went to her shop at 11pm! She's a life saver! I got the lightest of spray tans. It was a dusty and want I wanted. I wish I did go a bit darker but I was too nervous. Nikki recommended doing the light version and if I didn't like it she would re spray me! My two bridesmaids looked good as well. They did the darker spray tan. It is airbrush and done by Nikki. I've gotten a few spray tans here, and overall I have been very pleased until this last trip. I booked online thinking that I was paying in advance...well, I was wrong. I basically paid $30 to "reserve" a spot, then was told I owed $30 after my spray tan. I asked the front desk, "so, essentially I could of saved $30 by just calling to make an appointment?!" And she said, "Well, yeah we don't take your card over the phone." So I paid double the amount for a regular spray tan that I should have. Very upset about that. Moral is, don't reserve online. I have been here twice. Both for a sugar. The first time I wasn't asked if I wanted wax or sugar - I was automatically given wax (which my skin does not fair well with). So after already starting I told them that I've been sugaring for over 3 years (they had assumed I never sugared before) and they apologized and told me that it would be in my profile that I am used to sugaring and should be allowed to. So, my second appointment I was able to get the sugar, but didn't get 100% sugar due to inexperience and the staff felt uncomfortable with certain areas using it. Which, of course - we all start somewhere and I understand the importance of needing to learn when you first start out...but maybe give a discount on it while the staff is still learning?? I realized after I had showered how much was not sugared off... Looking for other options in the area...this place is the cheaper option - so I'll likely return. read more

I came here for a spray tan and I was really impressed by the space and the courtesy of the front desk staff (served water and iced coffee). I'd never had a spray tan and was given the medium shade (I'm fair-skinned). The color turned out well on my legs and arms but it was pretty orange-y on my face. So I showered after 5 hours instead of waiting the preferred 6-8, and it looks a lot better now. I wish I would've gone with the lightest shade looking back, but i had no real way of knowing what it looked like. I wish there was some sort of written description or color palette to know what the shades looked like, I kinda just had to trust the technician. Smells really weird after showering still. read more

I went to The Spot for my second ever spray tan before a wedding I was in. Before I went, Nikki was very helpful on the phone about explaining the process and what to expect. The results of my tan were great. I have been going to Melissa for cuts and blowouts for about a year, and she is always professional, friendly, and time-efficient. I've also had eyebrow tinting and spray tan services that are comfortable, easy, and quick, with positive results. Recently, due to my own poor planning, Glo-Out was booked on the last day I needed a blowout before traveling. Against my better judgment, I went elsewhere. The experience was less than stellar, and I left very disappointed. Considering the hard part of blow-drying my hair was done, I showed up on Glo-Out's doorstep hoping they would take pity on me and do a quick turn of a straightening iron to make my hair look semi-presentable. Nikki and another stylist graciously welcomed me in just before closing time and spent 20-30 minutes going well above a simple straightener run-through. They could have easily turned me away or been put out, but instead they were not just professional but absolutely positive. They made me feel welcome and like they understood. Not only that, but they would not accept payment for the services. The best part was the blowout looked fabulous and lasted several days (and several vacation photos)! Truly exceptional service and professionalism. I am a Glo-Out customer for life, and my next time in they will all be getting the thank-you they deserve from me. The two ladies that work there were SO laid back and personable. They answered all my questions and made me feel super comfortable. My tan looks natural and even, not at all orange. I went with the lowest setting since I was so fair skinned, but next time I'll be brave enough to go a little darker! I like this place. Everyone is working for salary which is great. They're not pushing products on you bc they don't work on commission. I got a Brazilian blow out by Melissa Cao and it was fantastic. Didn't love the wax I got there bc it wasn't as thorough as it should have been. Every time I go for a cut or blowout I walk out like Beyoncé.
