Breakfast taco - chorizo and cheddar, with salsa. YUM

We found this gem in 2017 when they were the only "local" restaurant open after Hurricane Harvey. In all of that time, they have been consistently excellent in food, friendliness, and cleanliness. Breakfast is our favourite meal, but the baked goodies are FANTASTIC too. Rustica is in my book.

Love this place!!! So good! Amazing spot!!! The pasteries are fresh! Service is great! Coffee is amazing!

Had breakfast here before an appointment nearby and it was HUGE. I didn't even need to eat lunch after my migas plate. First thing is first, the parking is easy and right in front. It's located in a plaza so lots of parking options. Second it's right off of the 59 feeder which makes it easy to get to too. My migas were delicious and got them Mexicana AND with hash browns/potatoes. Only thing is that they give you a piece of toast instead of tortillas to eat with them. However, it is more filling as a bonus. It is grab your own silverware roll and water but it's right there after you check out. Service was excellent and food came out pretty quickly. Don't know if I would try it again unless I'm back at the same place for an appointment.

Fantastic bakery with delicious cakes! We have had their mango cream cake several times and it is always super delicious - the mango puree tastes of fresh mango, and the cream compliments it perfectly and keeps it from being too sweet. The cake as a whole is also not too sweet, but can be paired with coffee to make an even better experience. We have yet to actually dine in and try their other offerings, but we will make time. They have a LOT of stuff on their menu. I did try the Republic of Tea offerings they had - the blueberry hibiscus tea - and it was good. Chicken empanadas are great, and the creamy potato soup is outstanding! Vibe here is casual, lots of people just picking up cakes. We've had a few complications with ordering cakes, namely delays in picking up the cake because it's not ready. To remedy this, make sure to tell them you want the cake 1 hour before the time you actually plan on picking it up. With this approach, we haven't had any more problems with delays or cakes being rushed. While this may seem like a hassle, we can tell you that the flavor of these cakes is well worth it.

French style baguettes are perfect. The only problem is the pastries suffer from humidity of Houston and if not eaten fresh they can get soggy and lose their texture. I am referring to the mille fuille. The chocolate cake was really good and held up for a few days. I bought 4 baguettes, 4 mille fuille, 4 chocolate cakes and 2 boxes of mixed macaroons for $100. We finally came around to checking it out and OMG YES. It absolutely is worth the hype. As a lover of egg tarts and someone who is also very particular about it - these have won my heart! I also heard great things about the mango mochi so we couldn't leave without those. Thankfully they still had some in stock. I heard they sell out quickly especially on weekends. Those also lived up to its hype. SO YUMMY! Tastes so fresh including the mangoes. My kiddo who LOVES mango anything loved them so much! My husband also got 2 savory pastries (I forgot what they were called and I forgot to take a picture) and those were yummy too. Perfectly flakey crust just like the egg tarts. We wanted to get sesame balls but they were sold out. Customer service was great. The guy that took our order was very nice. It was pretty busy but he moved through the line quickly. There's some seating inside if you want to eat there. Prices are very reasonable at $2 each for the mochi and egg tarts. The savory pastries were $3. It's located in a shared lot/area. Parking can be tight and limited on a busy weekend day but they have parking right out front for the Eck bakery customers. Also note that if you pay with card it's a 2.5% charge so cash is better if you have it. We didn't but we know now for future. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back. Next time we'll come earlier and get a bigger order and try their other offerings.

The location closest to us is the one on Airline Drive, and we usually go in the afternoon so we can avoid the after-work crowd. That time of day works really well for us because there aren't too many people, which makes it easier to grab bread and look around without feeling rushed.
