The husband surprised me here when I asked him to pick a place, I absolutely adored it! I loved that they had ice water with lemon as well as oil and vinegar poured and waiting for us when we arrived for our reservation, very thoughtful touch! Our server was Sierra and she was so wonderful! Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable and somehow struck the perfect balance between always being available when we needed her but never intrusive. 10 out of 10 stars for Sierra alone! We shared the meatball appetizer and were almost tempted to get a second order we wisely decided to split the arrabiata (medium spicy although we decided we could have stepped it up for our tolerance) and added the Italian sausage, it was delicious! You could really taste the quality in the food. We also tried the Sicilian old fashioned(very strong but you'll never catch me complaining about that) , the Sicilian margarita, and the espresso martini (perfect without the whipped cream added). The menus we recieved indicated happy hour was everyday from 3pm-close in the "bar" area. We got there around 5:15pm and asked about happy hour and we're informed that it ended at 5pm. Not a huge deal, but the menus should definitely be updated to avoid confusion. Pizza was tasty, but I was surprised to see chopped tomatoes on my margherita pizza instead of tomato slices. Pasta was also good, and tasted homemade. Ordered the chicken vodka pasta but wanted to sub the vodka sauce for bolognese sauce and we were surprised to see a $2 added charge for that. Cute local spot, and we will be back to try other items. We were seated within five minutes of our arrival. The menu is pretty diverse, with well known chicken, fish and pork Italian favorites. Rustico is a landmark restaurant located at the corner of Hunter and Winchester Road. It serves high-end Italian food. and also has a pretty good wine list. Their fried calamari appetizer with dipping sauces is an outstanding way to start any meal, as is their fresh-cooked bread with olive oil to dip in. Beware if you are watching carbs because you'll blow your entire diet before your main course! Their pizzas are tasty, and are frequently featured during their happy hour in smaller versions; their fish and pastas are excellent, as are their chicken items. The staff is attentive, and they use linen and not paper for their napkins - - definitely a sign of being upscale. It's a wonderful place for business lunches and for evening dinners. Their happy hour serves small versions of many of their entrées, and is popular among the locals. There is sometimes a wait for seating, but it is generally not long. However, long ago, my husband and I stopped going on weekend nights because the place becomes crowded and the acoustics are terrible. Giving this place 2 stars because the service and ambiance are great, but the food is very disappointing! For example, the $16 "Mediterranean Salad" included ONE (1) thin slice of tomato, 2 olives, 1 piece of artichoke, and lettuce. For $16 you should get more than 1 thin slice of tomato and lettuce. Came with my bf for a nice authentic italian dinner to end a great day. This was everything and more. This restaurant truly gives authentic italian vibes from the moment you enter. Our waiter, David was absolutely over the top amazing even giving us a free cannoli as, "he didn't want us to not have dessert". So this review is a combination of an old Togo order and a dine in experience. First of all DO NOT TO GO. Food did not travel well. PLEASE DINE IN!! Food was so much better fresh and service was amazing. Food items : House made bread- crunchy/flaky on the outside and soft on it inside. The taste was alright but the olive oil and balsamic saved it. Calamari: seasoned well and lightly breaded. Wished it was a little more crisper. Also it was really chewy. Clam chowder: broth base creamy and thick (but not super thick) this is a personal complaint but I wish it had chunkier pieces. But I'm not going to ding them because it was good regardless. Lasagna Fresca- really really good bechamel and was cooked to perfection. Was a little too wet for me but not a big deal. Service was great! Even on a busy night waiters are on top of water, checking up on you and just making you feel like they see you. Really your only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the food did not blow my mind. But that does not take away from this restaurant as it has great food and great service. Stopped by for an early birthday lunch and the food was delicious. I've been here a few times over the last 2-3 years and have loved the food and ambiance. Because it was lunch, I didn't see the seafood linguine that I was craving. Thankfully, I asked the waitress and she let me know it was on the dinner menu but I could still order. We also let them know we were celebrating a birthday and they brought by a small cannoli. Overall, it was a great experience with delicious, high quality pasta!
