Cute place. We went with a group of friends. The bread at the beginning was quite good, but they don't bring enough balsamic dipping sauce. We had to ask for more. The food was mostly fine - nothing special. The best item on the menu was probably the fried mozzarella - the rounds of battered and fried cheese were quite good, and the cheese oozed nicely when the round was cut. My chicken Marsala was overcooked and the Marsala sauce was not quite right - it was basically just chicken broth. The Fettuccine Alfredo was weirdly sweet. Chicken parm tasted like a freezer item. You can't order online, you will have to call to place your order. Our waiter at the bar was great and so were the drinks, however Rustico is way overpriced for the quality of the food. We ordered our food to go, which was the Pizza, Chicken Carciofi and the Spaghetti frutta di mare. It was lackluster to say the least. The pizza was bland and the Spaghetti frutta di mare was not fresh and soggy. I don't think I would visit again due to the price point and the quality of the food. read more

We met friends this evening and thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. My wife and I hadn't been here for years and we just moved back to Murrieta so we knew we needed to have dinner here again. The Chicken Piccata was delicious, my friend had the mussels and said it was also excellent. I am rather picky about pizza and I was thrilled with the pepperoni (and I added anchovies:) Most impressive pizza dough I've had in years. I like the thin crust, because it is still easy to pick up and eat without it flopping over. Perfectly balanced with great simple sauce and just the right amount of cheese and oregano. Best of all, the staff is friendly and made us feel really welcome. Joelle needs to know how wonderfully she took the time to give us outstanding service and made certain our dinner was very special! Ordered food to go. Overall it was okay. I would like to go in person and try something different. I got the shrimp and scallop risotto. It was watery and needed salt. There was a good amount of seafood but it was unseasoned. I wasn't a fan of the veggies in it. My husband ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. I think the meatballs were very good. I'm reluctant to eat Italian out because I grew up close to Italian families and learned to cook many authentic dishes so I'm often disappointed with Italian restaurants. Today we lunched at Rustico Ristorante and Pizzaria and the food was fresh, seasoned properly and cooked perfectly. We had brussel sprouts Rockafella, gnocchi as well as penne with arrabiatta sauce. All of it was delicious The atmosphere is peaceful, everything including the restrooms were clean. Our server Bre (pronounced like " Brie" the cheese) was exceptional, a little humorous, very attentive, answering our quite long list of questions fully and with patience. Rustico's ambiance is very nice and our sever Bianka, was extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food quality and preparation has sorely diminished. The bread was nothing that this Sicilian has ever eaten in Sicily nor in New York's Sicilian restaurants. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana. It was undercooked, tastelessly breaded with barely any marinara sauce and totally covered in a bland mozzarella cheese. The side of pasta was overcooked and the sauce was ok but a little on the acidic side. At best, this was akin to school cafeteria food. The redeeming factor of the meal was Rustico's chocolate cake dessert- utterly sinful! Next time I will go to Carini's. They are not fancy but have much better food. read more

Went here last night for dinner. Fabulous. We had two glasses of wine, we had the calamari fixed to perfection like it should be. Caesar salad that we shared, my husband had the lobster ravioli, and you could actually see the lobster. I had the spaghetti Bolognese and it was so tomato based and delicious. She recommended some dishes that were really good. I got the mushroom risotto and added shrimp; my husband got the beef ravioli and was happy with his dish. The minestrone soup was pretty good and the bruschetta was okay. It had good flavor but too much tomato & soggy bread. Went here with my wife on date night. I drive by this place almost every day and thought we'd give it a try. The ambiance was great and our server was kind and attentive, but the food was sub-par. Not a fan of the bread they serve. We ordered a small bbq chicken pizza and lasagna. Although the plate was piping hot, the lasagna was stone cold in the middle. I had been craving Italian and originally had plans for dinner in Palm Springs but the heat of the day led us to abandon the desert quicker than intended and we had to scramble to find a new spot for dinner on our drive home to San Diego. This spot happened to be fairly close to the Temecula wineries and thankfully didn't have too long of a wait. My go-to Italian food is chicken parmesan and this one was top notch. The gooey mozzarella on top of the chicken was perfection and the marinara-topped pasta had a wonderful flavor. I was also happy that they could sub a larger pasta portion for the seasonal veggies. The complimentary bread with olive oil and vinegar was also incredible! I'm not in Temecula often but I'll keep this spot in mind if I end up in the area in the future. read more
