A new restaurant and bar just opened on NH 114 in Henniker, next door to the All In One Market convenience store/deli & gas station, about a mile north of Pat's Peak. This restaurant and bar used to be Willow Bakery & Cafe and Henniker Junction. Presently at the time of this posting, they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Thursday to Monday. The atmosphere here lives up to its name which has a rustic casual atmosphere with finished wood trim walls and wood booths and tables with a separate carpeted dining room and a bar area with seating at the bar, additional tables, TVs, serving beer, wine, cocktails, and mixed drinks. The breakfast menu offers egg dishes, bennies, omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, biscuits & gravy, muffins, and breakfast sides. The lunch & dinner menu offerings include burgers plates with sides, sandwich plates with sides, appetizers, salads, soup, chili, seafood dinners with sides, chicken tenders, pasta dinners with salad & bread (after 4pm), dinner entrees with sides (after 4pm, fajitas, pork loin ribs, smothered steak tips). The prices here seem pretty reasonable, many breakfast entrees under $11 and most lunch & dinner entrees $9.99 to $27.99. I stopped by Rustic Rose Tavern over the weekend. They are still on a soft opening schedule and they had oven issues recently which is delaying their grand opening. Upon entering, I could sit anywhere and I sat in the dining room at a booth. The staff here is still in training. I ordered the Chicken Marsala ($14.99 plus tax) served with side salad and garlic bread. Presently, they are using regular silverware, paper plates, bowls and plastic dishes. The side salad came out first, which had a mix of crunchy lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, red onions, and cucumbers. I was given a small cup of BBQ sauce instead of balsamic vinaigrette dressing, the waitress was probably confused with the B on the lid. I decided to keep the BBQ sauce when my Chicken Marsala entree arrived in a round black plastic bowl with the baked buttered garlic bread. The portion was just right, a grilled boneless chicken breast over soft linguine tossed with plenty of mushrooms & onions in a creamy white wine sauce. The chicken was a bit tough and chewy which I cut up and dipped into the BBQ sauce, yummy! I enjoyed my creamy pasta dinner alongside the side salad and garlic bread. I finished all of my food and the waitress promptly clear my table and brought over the check which had a Toast QR code, which enabled me to quickly scan the code and pay online. The staff here was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, my food tasted pretty good and I would definitely stop in for breakfast! read more

Thought I'd share an updated review. I have eaten here many times over the last couple of years. I have tried many of the menu options. My go to favorites are...the jalapeño poppers and the Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and onion. I have NEVER gotten a bad burger there. The service can be a little quirky but knowing everyone is struggling with staffing issues you should be patient. I wish they would open for breakfast again...I thought they did a great job with their breakfast. The atmosphere is just what it says..Rustic ! If you're looking for fine dining...head somewhere else. Casual at its best!! read more

Our first time, for lunch. Pleasantly surprised to find some really good food generously plated. Our server was fun and nicely attentive. The Cuban sandwich had wonderful tender ham and pork with a sweet pickle that balanced the cheese. Served on a lightly toasted roll. We stopped in on our way to West Dover, VT after finding it on yelp. I ordered the caprese burger and it was perfectly cooked medium rare. Juicy homemade patty, not a premade one. Just passing through and a great, low key option for lunch. Something for everyone on the menu and inventive specials. Had a great conversation with owner/manager, Greg who started the place back up just recently after it had been closed for 10 years. Comfortable woody feel with a bar at one end along with booths and tables, sports and outdoor decor. We enjoyed burgers - regular and Californian (with avocado, arugula and garlic aoli mayo). The one star is only because the service was fine but. I was hoping that the seafood would be at least as good as the All In One's seafood. The food was mediocre at best. My husband had the special Mongolian bbq. It was disgusting. The rice was smeared on the bottom of the plate. It was very greasy. They need to have a real chef who knows how to cook and plate. Ambiance is that would be expected from any local bar. We won't return but wish them luck. read more

Outstanding food and their prices and portions are large for the price services. Very good and very comfortable atmosphere. Laid-back and a nice place to have lunch. Stopped for breakfast because someone said it was good. They were seriously mistaken. Where to start...I ordered eggs sunny side up, was told they do not do sunny, the grill was not set up for that.????? How hard is it not to flip an egg? Meat choice was sausage. It tasted like it was freezer burned. Home fries were nothing but flavorless boiled potatoes with burned onions. Cold toast. Pancakes were inedible, I could not even cut them with a knife. One was burned the other undercooked. Everything served on paper plates, which made it taste like paper. Will never go back. Not recommended at all. read more

Have had dinner a couple times at this restaurant and WOW the food is delicious, and the portions are a terrific value. We've had their blackened haddock tacos, chicken quesadilla, Mexican chicken salad, shrimp scampi, and chicken parm - all terrific flavor and sizable portions. The shrimp scampi is LOADED with shrimp and the sauce is delightful. The French onion soup is very flavorful with the right proportion of broiled cheese, bread, onions, and perfectly-flavored broth. The atmosphere is quiet and quaint. Not super noisy and rowdy, quite peaceful to where you can have a conversation with the other folks you are having dinner with and not have to yell. I bring my dog to the groomer in the same little row of businesses and inquired about The Rustic Rose. She gave it a good recommendation and for good reason! There were 6 of us with no duplicate orders. We started with their own hand battered chicken tenders that were so good! My son got the full rack of ribs and was wowed! I had a fishermen platter and the freshness of the fish, the amount that was given, and the preparation was all top-notch! Everyone raved about the portion sizes and how reasonably priced everything was. I brought enough home for 2 more meals and I ate a good amount of my dinner! I can't wait to try breakfast! Greg, one of the owners and Celena, our server, were both very attentive and personable. Inside gives a very rustic vibe and everything is spotlessly clean...even the restrooms.
