Love this place! So cozy - ambiance is everything! Really good food - tried just about everything on the menu, but HIGHLY suggest the seafood bisque. I love eating upstairs and overlooking the bar to watch the hustle and bustle of the patrons and waitstaff. Also love sitting by the fireplace in the colder months. When you drive up to this place you are going to think they are super busy and the parking lot looks full. The parking lot areas are small but there are many of them. On the side of the building, in the back of the other restaurant, and in the way back. There is a pavilion out back that can hold tons of people so there is more parking out there. So don't be discouraged. This place inside is super rustic. You will walk into a large bar. There is seating in front of the bar and a few tables behind those sets. There is also a full upstairs with more tables. This time of year there is outside seating as well. We were going to sit at the bar and eat, but the bartender looked overwhelmed with drink orders, and he looked like he was having all he could do to be nice to people. It seemed like there needed to be 2 bartenders on a Saturday night with a band in the pavillion, so we chose to get a table. All the wait staff we encountered were friendly. We sat up stairs. It was dark up there. Romantic, rustic, and super dark. We could hardly see the menu. We got the southwest egg roll appetizer. It came with four pieces of egg roll, sour cream and salsa. Very good. Lots of flavor. My husband got a salad, which was normal side salad size. For his dinner he got meatloaf. This was a large helping of meatloaf and mashed potatoes covered in Gravy. They were not stingy on the gravy, I am not a gravy fan, but this gravy had great flavor. I got the turkey cranberry sandwich on nan bread. Very delicious. The best part was the garlic parm fries. French fries coated with garlic butter oil and covered with parm cheese... oh they were yummy. Everything was reasonably priced. We had been to this place a few times when it first opened and it was just ok. They have been open a few years now and you can tell they have their act together. After our dinner this time, we will be making this one of our go to places to eat. read more

Service extremely slow. Food overcooked.

Our food was great, especially the fries. The waitstaff was snippy at best. The room was cold, and we were told it was 75 degrees which it wasn't but, ok.... then all of a sudden the fireplace went on. I'm really not keen on the labeling of the rest room doors.... somehow it seems better names could be used! We will try it again, hope for a better experience with the waitstaff. read more

I went there for the first time last night to celebrate a friends birthday. The food was delicious, the drinks strong and the waitress was attentive and very nice. My only concern was that when we ordered fries, the waitress asked whether we'd like garlic, sweet potato or regular, without any mention that it'd cost extra. Then on the bill there's a dollar charge for sweet potato fries. If you're going to charge for an upgrade, be kind enough to let your customers know. What a wonderful experience at the The Rustic Loft!! We typically dine in Albany area, but we were meeting friends from out of town in the Amsterdam area for dinner.... we relied on YELP reviews for help, and they did not disappoint! Great food, great service, great people! Loved our dinner there and sooo looking forward to return! I wish this establishment were in my neighborhood in Albany.... food and service was thoughtful and considerate of all of our requests....so well done!!! Been there twice. First time waitress seemed like she had better things to do. Second time waited over an hour for our food. The waitress was very apologetic. Though the food was good, felt that the owner or manager should have made it a point to apologize. I have eaten here twice and both times I was extremely sick (gastro symptoms). I'd call it a coincidence but someone else I know had the same thing happen. My guess is there's a lot of fat in the food (I have no gallbladder). They have a cool atmosphere but not worth it to be sick. I avoid like the plague. read more

Would not recommend. Menu was deceiving. Ordered the chicken parm dinner which clearly stated "comes on a bed of pasta", however it doesn't. Waitress said the menus are wrong and are deceiving. I then ordered lime w/cilantro rice... well it was plain white dried up instant rice that seemed to have been sitting out for hours. The only good thing was our standard drinks. I stopped in to try this place. It I came in around 4:00 PM for lunch. The place was fairly quiet and had a warm atmosphere. The decoration more than lives up to the name and the selection of drinks and food was amazing. I had the fried pickles and lobster mac n' cheese. I would reccomend it to anyone. The food is all reasonably price and the portions are fair. I especially recommend their buffalo chicken dip. I also really appreciate how they keep the tables clean as you're eating. Visited for the first time during the coronavirus and ordered takeout. Excellent food, excellent service, full menu, and even a bonus. The portion sizes were more than enough- unlike some of the other places we have orders takeout from - had plenty of food leftover. Our only complaint was that the pot roast sandwich (the Damn Yankee, I believe they call it) is rather small for the $13.99 price. It's wonderfully good though. I just ought to be about twice the size that it is. Or there should be two of them! The sandwich comes with a bit of slaw on the side, and a portion of fries large enough for two very hungry eaters, but still... it could use more meat. Drink prices are quite cheap with a great bar atmosphere. However, the dinning experience is sub-par. Food portions are tiny for the price and little attention is paid to cooking to temperature. First time going to this place. My wife and I sat out on the deck which was nice. Inside was really nice as well, we just wanted to be outside. Big menu selection and we tried the seafood bisque, which was good but lacked seasoning. I had the honey hot wings which were delicious and my wife had the short rib sandwich, which was good except that it too lacked seasoning. (I'm a big fan of added salt, pepper and garlic). I also has the sweet potato waffle fries that were outstanding. The portions were good sized and the price was fine. We would definitely eat there again. read more

Not a big fan. The selections are few and the portions are small. I went once and was impressed with the dessert (caramel ice cream with funnel cake fries....a MUST try), but the dinner itself, not so much. I'm only returning because an out of state family member wants to try it. I will say that the decor is right up my alley....very rustic, very cool interior. Outstanding!!! Went with a group of 6 and everyone thought that their meal was delicious. We were extremely impressed with the food, the service and the décor. The prices were also very reasonable and portions were more than enough - we all took home leftovers. We will definitely be going again and I highly recommend this restaurant.
