Happy Anniversary to us! Well, yesterday but nonetheless decided we'd try a steakhouse we've read…read moremuch about in here. Honestly, we weren't that... impressed, but we gave it a valiant go on both meals chosen! Kinda bummed there wasn't a drink menu with cocktails, but they had a great selection of wine ranging from $100-$500 a bottle. So, we stuck with water. Bread and creamy butter was dropped off while we waited and who can't resist a warm roll? Got the Trail Boss Prime Rib, with salad bar, and baked potato side was requested as medium. The au ju lacked flavor, and only lasted a few bites before not used at all. The baked potato was delish though! Prime rib was very tender, a lot of cap which was nice, but it was just sorta.. average. I snagged their Teriyaki Tenderloin Kabob on a bed of wild rice, salad bar, and asparagus side (probably the first restaurant I've seen that's offered asparagus as an actual side), requested well done. By all accounts it does look a bit charred, but when the veggies were pulled apart, they were warm and tender and paired well with the teriyaki and rice. That rice was delish! Asparagus didn't blow any air up my skirt unfortunately, because I really wanted it to blow my mind. I felt like we left a lot of food on our plates, but that could've just been how it was. We just felt... underwhelmed and wasn't picking up on all the hype.

The drinks were also perfectly curated and complemented my meal beautifully. The servers were also the absolute sweetest and very welcoming and kind! They argued with a doordash guy about how they packaged the desserts. They didn't man the contour or even know what was on there menu. It took three of the four employees to deliver us a mediocre customer service experience. I had to ask several time to get my drinks for my order. The kid who just took my order shrugged his shoulders when I asked for my drinks and walked away towards the back. I had to get one of the young ladies to help me but she stared as if she couldn't understand the words coming out of my mouth. She did one drink at a time and then would ask me again for the next one. The kid who took my order just hung out by the heat lamps talking to the cook. Preparation of the hotdogs isn't rocket science but neither of the two males was capable of putting the hot dogs together. In addition they had prepared desserts that where hard when my daughter's tried to eat her strawberry funnel cake. This wasn't just some kids being silly, what this was is poor supervision and education. I will go back but I will leave if the staff behaved the way they did this day.

I noticed a lot of newer eateries and businesses in Aksarben since the last time I was there, so hopefully some of them stick around a while. Anyhoo, on to Crispy Burger! First off, the interior is bright and colorful, with a lot of orange, red, and then an accent wall of black and white geometric shapes. It's a super welcoming vibe! One thing that's kind of weird is that the building (and Yelp and Google) says Crispy Chicken, but all the wrappers and signs say "Crispy Burger" which was confusing. The smells inside when you walk in make your mouth water, so get ready to over order if it's your first time here (we definitely did!) They have a LOT of fried things, like fried chicken, mozzarella sticks, popcorn chicken, etc. So this definitely is not an every day place if you are looking for health food. We ordered the cheese sticks to start and they were enormous. Definitely shareable between a few people, as each cheese stick is like an appetizer in itself! I ordered the nuggets and fries, and they were really well breaded and pretty large. You can choose from about 1500 sauces for dipping (ok, maybe more like ten, but that's still a lot!) The fries were great too, that come as a side in your box. My husband had the bone in chicken wings combo, and he was very pleased with his choice. Gigantic wings, with fries, a biscuit, and mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. Now is Crispy Burger fine dining or somewhere you'd go on a date night? Definitely not. But it's nice, tasty food, for a pretty inexpensive price. So I would definitely recommend trying it out next time you're in the Aksarben area!

We ordered a chicken nugget meal with teriyaki skewers and a biscuit with a side of fries. This meal had a ton of food and left us feeling as full as a tick. I'd have to say the fan favorite of the night was the skewers. The flavor was so tasty and light. I believe it was chicken thighs, there were some fatty pieces but I honestly didn't mind. The nuggets reminded me of a similar fast food location with the Golden Arches logo. I honestly didn't mind because these had more flavor and seasonings within; same consistency of chicken within though. I can see myself coming back here to try some of their boba and rolled ice cream!

As far as the food, we ordered the rib dinner, the Hott Mama, and chicken strips with fries. The Hott Mama was honestly almost inedible, it was strangely sweet and had basically no seasoning at all. The ribs were decent at best, nothing I'd go out of my way to order again. The chicken strips were also extremely bland with absolutely no seasoning. What really stood out was that when we were leaving, we noticed other tables had ordered the chicken strips too, and several plates were left almost untouched. That says a lot. A little seasoning would go a LONG way here! Between the slow service, sticky table, and bland food, this was unfortunately a disappointing experience.
