I would never go anywhere else in the IE for running shoes. As a veteran runner of 40 plus years (yikes!) I love the personal attention and time they spend with you. Last time I bought a new pair I wanted to try a different type of shoe. They painstakingly had me try on about 15 pairs of shoes and ended up back with my old brand. They keep records and can easily look up how long ago you purchased your shoes and even give you advice and tips on upcoming races. You may a bit more then you would at an outlet store but for me the service is well worth the money! read more

I used to have knee pain but when I come here I get assessed and offered specific shoes to properly align my step and the pain dissipates. Craig took his time with my son, watching him run, trying different combinations of shoes to figure out what would be best. I cannot remember the name of the gentleman that helped me (sadly) but he was wonderful! I came in close to closing after rushing to them when I got off work an hour away and they were SO accomodating. I didn't know places like this existed! Prices were totally reasonable and the kind and patient associates working here were so pleasant. As a newer runner and not in the best shape of my life I often times feel judged in athletic stores- not this one. They made me feel so comfortable. Though I believe there are some great shoe gurus at the Running Center, not everyone who works there knows their stuff. Your luck with your shoe is going to depend on who helps you. Though I purchased my first pair of running shoes there, I have since had better luck at other stores. The prices are not comparable because nothing goes on sale and they refuse to price match bigger, chain stores. I've gone in twice with an ad from a larger store showing my shoes $20-30 less than their price but they refused to adjust so I took my business elsewhere. I would do the research online and make the trek to a larger store with a runner-friendly return policy. read more

My sister bought me running shoes for my birthday buuuut I happen to have a wide foot (gosh darn it), so naturally the regular was a bit snug on the sides. Being that it was the Thanksgiving holiday we returned the shoes 5-days later with the hopes of exchanging for the same shoe, same size, just in wide. We walked in and at first had trouble distinguishing who worked there, both customers and sales associates looked the same (and there wasn't anyone behind the register). Finally a sweet younger girl, comes to ask us if we need help so we go on to explain we just need to exchange for a wider shoe. A few minutes later, another lady says a bit harshly, "Can you two come over here and try these on??" My sister and I look at each other, confused because: A) She wasn't the one originally helping us and B) The shoes she was pointing at were different shoes then the ones I was returning. Then she says, "Okay, you guys are pointing at each other but that does nothing." To which I reply, " Oh sorry, we didn't know who you were and you didn't clarify which shoes." So I try on the different pair of Mizuno's which were still snug because... well.. it wasn't a wide foot. The original younger girl comes back to help us and tells us she checked the other Running Center locations and none of them carry the shoe in wide. We did appreciate that the young lady checked it out for us! Bummed, I just said that's okay we would just like a refund. To which the girl said, she wasn't sure how to refund a visa debit card transaction. So she goes to the other lady (the one from earlier) who proceeds to tell her loudly that "industry" doesn't allow them to refund a debit card because it can't be credited back to the account like a credit card. In the end, they're going to order the shoes in wide from Mizuno tomorrow morning so I have to return in 10 business days to pick them up. I can only speak for the Redlands store, but overall, the idea is cool.They seem to spend time with their customers making them run to determine their runner's gait and all. The associates are really nice and I would say they all have a quick eye when it comes to shoe size. But the refund policy is a bit sketch. I still don't know who this "industry" is when they say they gladly will refund the unused shoe. Everyone does have their off days, and I can definitely empathize with that bc I've been there but still spoke politely to the patron but in the end it kinda stinks to be at the receiving end of someones off day when you're buying a pair of running shoes for $120+ dollars. I probably won't return to buy my running shoes from them but that's based off my own experiences. The extra star is because they seemed good to the other customers that were there and the younger girl that helped us was nice. Tips for people who go in: 1. Double check that if you are unsatisfied with the unused shoe they will refund it... Even though their receipts, the sign at the cash register and their refund policy online says, "We will gladly refund unused or unworn shoes within 30 days etc. etc." It can be tricky with electronic forms of payment. 2. Check their online prices, sometimes their online prices differ than their in-store sales price. read more

I've been here a couple of times. The customer service here is top notch. If you need running shoes and don't know which one that best fits your feet then definitely come here. They will let you try every shoe until you find the right one. They even let me try different insoles to see which one was the right one for me. I don't know if they still have a liberal return policy on their shoes which was they would accept any shoe after a month even if you have used them. You need to check with them to see what their cureent return policy is on their shoes. A great specialty store for runners! read more

I've been running for year's & have gone threw maybe a couple hundred pairs of nike's haha. They didn't seem to last too long and now that I have been training for half /full marathons they really don't last..so i decided to go here recommended by Jeff Phillips my best friend..it was the best decision i made in a long time..they fitted me in about 8-pairs of different kinds of shoes, had me run back and forth in their built in running track..nice! by the way... to check out my posture and running style and they got me in a pair of Asics ..at first i didn't like how they looked but i decided to give them a try..best pair of running shoes i have ever had..going on 2 1/2 years of me running in these shoes, shin splits and bad plantar have stop'd and just getting ready to get my next pair. beats me buying a new pair of nike's every 6-months..thanks guys read more

In preparation for my first half marathon in February 2014, this place was recommended to me by a friend for some cool and comfy running shoes. Upon walking in I was approached by someone who quickly asked for my size and took a look at my feet and immediately got me a bunch of pairs to try on. Upon trying each one, I was asked to run along the "runway" in the middle of the store to test and see how it feels for my feet. I must have tried about almost 10 pairs until I was debating between the Nike Structures and Saucony Guides... the Nikes were of course more appealing to me but I trusted my gut and went to the Sauconys... because in the end its about how they fit your feet and not the style, right?! I need to feel unstoppable during my half marathon... and so far these shoes have been great during my training! Overall, this was a great store for all your running needs... not only do they sell shoes, but clothes, accessories, energy supplements.. you name it! The lady who helped me was very nice, funny and helpful. While helping me, you can tell many of the customers there have been long time customers of this store... and seeing how nice and helpful they are, its easy to see why. Well, I went into this store with the full intention of buying a particular pair of Asics...as I have been wearing that brand for years. I knew the size and I knew exactly why I wanted the particular model. When I gave the guy the size, he said that he didnt have that particular size and then I mentioned that the floor model was the exact size I was looking for and he seemed miffed that I corrected him. I tried them on and loved them and then he proceeded to talk me out of buying them and didnt really offer up any alternatives. A small independent store specializing in nothing but running gear and the latest seasons running apparel. It's a great store outside of your ordinary foot locker. They offer more running gear than most. Staff is friendly and very welcoming. They carry more asics and new balance shoes than any store I've seen. At the time it seemed they were holding a meet for a runners group. As I was shopping I've overheard their group meeting in the corner. Never have I heard employees as enthusiastic about the importance of foot comfort and running. The prices of items were a little pricier than I expected but then again they carry quality products. Warning, the hangers aren't labeled with sizes but rather colors so searching for your size maybe be difficult at first. Once you find the color code to your size it becomes easier to shop. Ended up buying a nice Nike dri-fit tank top for $26 and i am satisfied with the quality. You can go online to buy a lot of what they have but it's nice to know what your buy fits. Running the LA marathon in March and the Mission Inn half marathon in November so I wanted to get some new running shoes for all of the upcoming training. I was running in Nike frees and a combination of other Nike shoes which didn't offer enough support and stability for my longer runs. Very helpful, knowledgeable staff! I went with my daughter and got there right when the opened noon on a Sunday. They had me try on about 6-8 pairs of shoes before narrowing it down to two pairs. Then they had me put the two different shoes on, one right one left, then switch, then the pair, then the other pair...you get the idea...quite the process but effective for getting the perfect pair. Go in with an open mind and let the shoes choose you, you may end up with a brand or color that you would have never considered, but the end result for me and my daughter was a very comfortable pair of shoes that I have already put about 20 miles on! I used a Groupon $100 gift card that I got for $80 then they gave me another $20 off coupon. The shoes were high end and a price tag to go with them, but worth every penny for getting great shoes that fit great and comfort! read more

I have to add my positive review. I will admit that I was surprised that this store is where it is - in a rather sad strip mall with a lot of second- and third-tier stores. That aside, I was impressed with the store and the staff. I wish I knew the name of the young lady who assisted me. She was "assisted" by her 13-month-old daughter. Anyway, there is a camera at foot level, which feeds a large monitor where the salesperson can observe the customer walking or running, to determine any problems with the gait. There's a long solid walkway with cobblestones where customers can test the shoes, whether walking or running. After determining that I have overpronation, the salesperson brought out four different pairs of shoes. After trying on all four, both she and I were satisfied with a pair that fit well. There is absolutely no sales pressure, which I loathe, and whatever time is necessary for a proper fit is taken. I will definitely be back, although I think these walking shows will be good for the long run. read more

Went in here about a month ago because I needed some help with my running. I'm a new runner and also a big guy (6'6" 265 pounds) and I was having BAD shin splints. I'm talking so bad they were painful to the touch after taking an entire week off. Right when I walked in I was honest about my experience and my lack of knowledge regarding running. The gentleman who helped me kindly explained that Nike Free Runs are terrible shoes for new runners because of the lack of padding and support. New runners don't have the musculature or endurance in their feet so they need that support. The gentleman brought out about 6 pairs of shoes and I tried each of them on while he watched me run the length of the store. I settled on a pair of Brooks running shoes and added some L/R specific socks as well. Overall it was a wonderful experience and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I would not hesitate to return and I will definitely recommend the Running Center! read more

I would give more stars if they let me. I was there today, looking for walking shoes. It was a great experience. The staff were very helpful and FRIENDLY, Ozzie helped me. He is not only good looking, even better, he really knew what he was doing. I am a 68 year old female, know nothing about proper walking shoes. Ozzie worked with me and I now have a wonderful pair of walking shoes. I wore them to walk my dog ( almost running ) and they were very comfortable and supportive. A big thank you to Craig and the staff at the Running Center, my son bought some shoes that they recommended to him for running and they were giving him a lot of blisters. Craig said to come back and he put him thru his paces and several different pairs of shoes and narrowed it down to a single pair.
