Old dusty shelf with an old condom
John N.

Old dirty dusty, Cobb webs everywhere, mouse poop on the shelf where the dishes are, don't stay here.

Sketchy Shower

Staff was very friendly and kind but here is where the positives ended. Our kitchen had a stove with the door literally falling off (certainly not usable), the fridge handle was broken and freezer was so built up with ice it was unusable. On the bright side the things we kept in the fridge all froze so it was working overtime. The toilet seat was missing a bolt so it was not attached on one side and the window coverings were broken and the drapes were hung in place by closing them into the windows (which were frozen shut with frost on the inside). If we could have found another place to stay without selling our first born we would have never stayed. We made the best of it and ran the fireplace (which had a broken front window) full time. My wife, who stayed here 30 years ago, said things looked exactly the same and had not changed since she was last there. Unfortunately we will never stay there again. I do not recommend this property.

The resort is very mountainous looking resort on the outside, in fact very inviting. This location is on the outskirts of the busy Canmore Town. With hiking trails to town or by the river. The staff very friendly and accommodating upon checkin. There is 2 levels of underground parking for guests. Upon arriving to our suite as we entered it was like entering a apartment full kitchen with counter seating for 4 and huge table, 2 bedrooms, 2 huge bathrooms, washer and dryer, living room with fireplace, a balcony with BBQ. Looking over the courtyard and pool. Considering how full this resort was with guests, it's very quiet inside the unit. There is a cafe connected to the resort called Black Dog Cafe. Note: stay away it's very over priced below par food with very slow service. Better off going to Tim Hortons down the road for half the price and fresh hot breakfast. There is a cute Deli called Bohemian smoked meat Czech Deli across the street highly recommend! Freshly made sandwiches and soups. In the Garden centre of all places is a Tea house with gourmet Japanese breakfast or Lunch made fresh everyday called Wagashi. This resort is very well situated amongst the mountains and away from town. Will be back in the future had a fantastic stay.

When we arrived at the gated Lake Moraine road, we were yelled at by the Parks Canada gate attendant which left us shaken, but Rosie turned our day completely around! We were welcomed warmly and given a tour of the lodge. We were also asked if we needed help with our luggage. We asked if they were allowing canoeing, and she hooked it up for us right then even though we were the first of the season. Our room was stunning and they left a really nice welcome gift for us, a chocolate bar and two Moraine Lake Lodge water bottles (metal, super nice!). We loved our little fireplace and we could not believe the view from our room. I took a bath and I really liked how they give you a little bath cube from L'Occitane. Their bath products smell great! When I got out of the tub my fiancé came in carrying a bottle of champagne! He said the front desk staff was super nice in helping him set up the surprise. We had a great time sipping champagne and sitting on our porch. For dinner we ate in the dining room, and the service was very slow... I made eye contact with our server a couple of times to signal we were finished but she still took a long time to come to our table. We were there for more than two hours. The food was good though, just be aware that dinner is an occasion. We walked by the lake after dinner and it was great because there was no one there. The next morning, we got up super early but not early enough to avoid the tour buses. I think they come in at 4 a.m. and descend on the rockpile. That's one thing about staying here that's not ideal. You're sharing the lake, the cafe, and the gift shop with lots of tourists throughout the day. We could not even grab anything from the cafe because the line of tourists at 8 a.m. was so long. The complimentary breakfast was my favorite meal here but you do need a reservation. We asked the receptionist if we could get sandwiches to go ordered even though we missed the deadline, but she said no. It was a bummer- so definitely book reservations and ask for sandwiches in advance if you're not going to be there between 12:30-2 p.m. Our breakfast service was much better! They give you a pastry and fruit cups. It was the BEST PASTRY EVER. It was maple and we loved it; the server was kind enough to bring us another helping without us even asking. We both got a breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and homestyle fries. Overall, we both had a great time but we definitely enjoyed the privacy of our balcony the most. If we had more days here we would have opted to sign up the guided hikes. There's not many other things to do here besides hike, read and relax with no pool, spa or fitness center but I do think when you consider having access to lake moraine, a complimentary breakfast and canoe ride, the price feels not as bad.

I taught my adult son chess believe it or not. It may or may not have been after several lobby bar drinks haha. Bus schedule is published and on time. Moxy has a "Food Truck" in the main lobby area and a nice selection of beer and wine. Check this place out for you next visit to Banff and surrounding area.

The staff at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. She gave us 2 tokens for welcoming drinks at the bar as well as bus passes to use while exploring the town. The lobby was so spacious, plenty of tables and couches to lounge on. We noticed that they also had bike rental and games to enjoy inside the lobby (old arcade video games and foos ball). The back patio area had a small pool and a small jacuzzi along with lounge chairs and 2 fire pits. Upon exploring, we found the coin operated guest laundry room and small fitness room in the basement area. The suite we booked was beyond cute. Felt like they brought a little of the outdoors into our stay. Only downside was that the sink was in the middle of the room but otherwise loved the design. In terms of food they have a small eating area where you can purchase frozen meals and self microwave them. They also have free coffee and tea and a water filling station. There is also a "food truck" that you can order various foods but the menu is limited. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely consider staying here again.

When I came in the Summer of 2025, I noticed they use the 1883 Lavender syrup from France. Sounds fancy right? But it actually doesn't use any actual lavender syrup; the flavor is all artificial. It also contains Red 40 which has already been known to be a mutagen for 20+ years BEFORE, before RFK. My syrup had developed a microbial (bacterial most likely) biofilm and growths within the syrup. My syrup still has 6 months before the expiration date. If the syrup is being used quickly, then maybe it isn't a problem, but I don't think lavender is a super popular flavor. So if you're at the Fairmont, check the bottles of syrup flavorings before you order, especially if it is the 1883 brand. Also, if you're staying at the Fairmont Hotel...why don't they just make lavender simple syrup in the kitchen? You mean to tell me this fancy hotel can't afford to make simple syrup? It tastes better too.

Apparently it's been snowing heavily and due to the heavy snowfall, the hotel could not put up the rink until it would stop snowing. Lots of people were hanging out on the lake. The hotel had ice sculptures and an ice bar. I saw a few horse drawn carriages as well. They had a well lit tunnel. Their lobby was decorated with Christmas trees and garlands. For the afternoon tea, I got the Egyptian chamomile tea. It had sweet elements to it and was considered a flavored tea. I did try it with sugar and milk. Although it didn't taste bad, I prefer to have my tea without anything. The tea itself was good enough for me. In addition to the tea, my meal came with a glass of prosecco. For the food, I got their basic menu which comes with 4 varieties of cake, 2 pastries, 3 sandwiches, a croissant and deviled egg. They offer different foods as well depending on your dietary needs. They have seafood, vegetarian, kids menu and I believe gluten free as well. Wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. My waiter was so kind and helpful. My view from my table was beautiful. So he drove us into Banff NP. We stopped at Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Vermillion Lakes, the cascade falls, and then we began driving to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. What an absolutely beautiful hotel in one of Nature's most breathtaking masterpieces. The beautiful earth-toned cream colored hotel climbs from the lower mountain side and stands beautifully amongst the tall pines surrounding it. We made our way to the Vermillion Bar, where are post worked back in his college days, and were greeted by a super sweet server, Ayala, who lit up whenever she laughed and smiled with you. We enjoyed cocktails, beef, tartare, veggie Credit, charred, avocado, and a unique presentation of hot wings I've never had before - the actual wing that has two bones in it was pre-cut down the middle so you were served the 2 halves as their own individual wing. Great flavors and it was very unique and enjoyable. All of it was delicious and undeniably yummy, and fairly priced for such an elegant location. We were expecting a much higher price point and were delightfully surprised to see that even though it is a luxury location, it was not price gouging or ridiculously inflated that one often finds in so many other locations that are "elegant or nice". If you have the opportunity to treat yourself to a very beautiful sunset under the majestic Mount Rundle, and want to enjoy a modern setting in a historic landmark, this is absolutely a visit you must make while in Banff National Park. Thank you Ayala for treating us so well, and sharing your sweet Australian journey with us. Chris, David, Trisha, and Keith

I was on my way to the Banff Gondola when I stopped here. The hot springs are also located nearby. The original hotel opened in 1888 and has gone through several major renovations and expansions since then. Even if you are not staying here, you have to check this place out. I mostly walked around the outside of the hotel and in the main lobby. Fairmont Banff Springs has two main accommodation areas - the Gatehouse and the historic Main Building. It has a Châteauesque design to it. I love how the hotel stands out within the surrounding Valley. I could even see it from Sulphur Mountain when I rode the gondola to the top. The Banff Springs Hotel has over seven hundred guest rooms and several event spaces. This hotel is worth seeing in person for its size and stunning architecture if you are in the area.
