The lodge is in a quiet location, near the Bow River but a block from downtown Banff's array of shops, restaurants, outdoor activities & cultural events. There are 211 rooms all with a private balcony or patio to enjoy the fresh mountain air & spectacular views of Banff National Park. There was an indoor pool, hot tub, steam room, and a tiny & very hot fitness corner. The Crave Mountain Grill served my daily buffet breakfast and dinner with cocktails. La Terrazza is the authentic Italian restaurant on the property while Bluebird is the steakhouse, we enjoyed a group dinner with 45 at Crave. Happy hour from 4:00 until 6:00 is in the terrace lounge. There were many shops, bike rentals & an art gallery in the hotel. We checked into room 107 for two nights. The room was clean, spacious & comfortable with two sinks, two queen beds, 2 chairs, a refrigerator and a safe. We had a sliding glass door to a large opened patio. There was a warning on the door, not to leave it open for our safety or comfort. There wasn't any furniture outside to sit on. This was not private, the patio was shared with many of the rooms. There was a concierge & a wall of pamphlets. We asked the concierge for a map & info about the springs. He couldn't answer our questions & didn't have a map; he referred me to the front desk. This was a busy hotel for tour groups; Globus, Backroads, Trafalgar were all moving in an out. There was NO air conditioning in the new wind. We were given a small fan that didn't do much. I really enjoyed this comfortable hotel for our two night stay. It has an excellent location right in the heart of Banff's very vibrant restaurant district. One night we just walked across the street and had a nice dinner at the Bluebird Steakhouse for example. It is also quite a large 3-story lodge and bigger than it first appears. Our room and bathroom were spacious. The only issue we had was the heater didn't seem to be doing much and when we queried about it and the thermostat, they provided us with a small space heater which did the job for us. The staff was very responsive. We also had two breakfasts in their Crave Mountain Grill restaurant and they were top notch quality. I'll go with 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 and I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Banff! read more

Very nice lodge...big bedrooms (no micro), large dining area for groups with extensive buffet for all guests, including international (baked beans on breakfast buffet...lol)! Apparently many conferences here so they have other restaurants, bar, rental bike opportunities, gift shops in lodge. The rooms are extremely spacious, there is no chance of claustrophobia. The lobby is beautiful and clean. The rooms were clean and in working order. The AC wasn't strong, but that didn't matter as it was the second week of September and therefore the temps drop quickly so it was still comfortable. The water pressure was excellent. I was thrilled to see the wet bar area, so we had an extra sink outside the bathroom. This comes in handy, especially if you're sharing a room with your sister. Although our room didn't contain a microwave, if you ask the concierge they will allow you to heat up your food, where they have paper plates, and plastic cutlery available. This came in handy as we had Korean fried chicken and Indian food that needed to be devoured before we left Banff. Our balcony was large but we didn't utilize it, as it was a nice view of the parking lot. Make sure to check if your sliding door is locked. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was included with our stay with a variety of options ranging from fruit, charcuterie items, pancakes, French toast, mushrooms, baked potato wedges,scrambled eggs, delicious bacon, sausages and oatmeal. Each day there was a different smoothie option, which the available ones I tried were all fantastic. They have coffee & tea service with servers coming by the table often. The pool and eucalyptus steam room are incredibly beautiful & appear to be updated. We used the steam room which was welcoming after a long day, to relax and soothe the aches and pains from exploring. The pumping of eucalyptus was a nice touch as well. While the decor in the room looks outdated, this hotel Is wonderful and has a lot to offer with it being situated within close walking distance to many things. Nestor's will be a grocery store across the street a few blocks down if you are walking out of the hotel and turn to your right. If you turn to the left there's a gas station diagonally across the street and the big BANFF sign is maybe a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. The Fenland walking trail runs behind the hotel and you will eventually hit the canoe club where you can rent canoes or kayaks. The hotel is just a block over from downtown banff and Magpie & Stump is a block or two away. The clock tower mall which is near the McDonald's and a short walk from the hotel has a currency exchange in Freya's that doesn't charge a fee. Although majority of places accept credit or debit cards. If you're looking to send postcards, there's a post box right outside the hotel. If you want a nice 20-25 minute walk one way, you can walk to Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, which we did but walked back to our hotel instead where it's all downhill. It's a lovely walk that takes you through the art in the park along the bow river. The concierge were very helpful and kind at the BPL hotel. read more

We spent three nights here while skiing at the SKIBIG3 in March 2025. The rooms and employees were fantastic! It is located so close to most of the Banff downtown. They are remodeling many rooms but it is not a huge deal. The check in was easy and the accommodations are right at hand. The housekeeping is superb and those comfortable washroom comforts so nice. If we do go back to Banff, we will try to stay here at this BPL! read more

This place is beautifully appointed and spacious. It has a cozy fireplace as you enter on the left of the lobby. When we called guest services for extra toiletries, they were quick to respond and were very happy to help! Our room is large and spacious and has 2 large queen beds and a round dining table with chairs, a safe, refrigerator, and a coffeemaker! So many amenities!!! It has a nice open/spacious yet cozy lobby, so we are excited about our stay here as a base for exploring Banff and its surroundings! Highly recommend this place!! read more

Stayed here with a tour group. Complained the first night about the air conditioner not working. Somebody showed up with a desk fan, and explained that the air conditioner would work better once the temp went down, and I could open the sliding glass door to help cool off the room. Well DUH! This is supposed to be a 3 star motel!! This room is back in the 70's, no air conditioning and no microwave in the room. And no attempt to address my problem. Next, the breakfast buffet was vast, lots to choose from. Only problem is the hot food wasn't hot. Barely warm. I can't believe a health inspector would allow them to keep serving luke warm food. We were left in a lurch when we discovered the reservation we'd made at another hotel was 3X the price we were led to believe it was, so we were late in finding something else. Called Banff Park Lodge and requested connecting rooms with one king in one, two queens in the other. No problem! We were in luck. We pressed our luck and asked for quiet, top floor rooms as well since my husband is a light sleeper. They were all too happy to accommodate. Score! Our stay at Banff Park Lodge ended up being just what we needed, thereby exceeding our expectations based on previously read reviews. Liked the location, rooms were comfortable and quiet. Dated accommodations, pool a little small, pricey for what it was, absolutely horrendous service at breakfast, but the bartender was great, dinner at la Terrazza exceeded our expectations and we slept well for the duration. Ample parking as well. Skip the breakfast here unless it is included and/or you love a buffet. The service truly awful. We far preferred breakfasts we had elsewhere. I would recommend Banff Park Lodge but think it should be considerably less expensive. Not a great value overall but more than serviceable and in a good location for your stay in Banff. read more

Being one of the older lodges I think this place is pretty solid. You can definitely feel the stories hidden behind these walls. The rooms were spacious and the Roman shower we had was extremely relaxing as well. It's definitely the best experience one could ask for after a snowboard trip. Visited during the day for a work event. Hotel is just steps from downtown and the Bow River. Lobby and conference spaces are nicely appointed; breakfast buffet is fine, and lunch and dinner (catered through the hotel restaurant) were pretty good, though not incredible by any means. The rooms appeared clean and comfortable, if outdated. Thanks to Alberta's strict service dog laws, the hotel management told me in advance of my stay that my American owner-trained PTSD service dog could not enter the hotel. (I am a disabled military veteran.). There were no pet-friendly rooms available at the Bow View Inn, the sister property around the corner. I took my service dog to a local kennel and went to the hotel. At the front desk, I tried to make a last-ditch effort to have my service dog stay with me. Much to my surprise, the red-headed manager on duty (she wore glasses; I don't remember her name) informed me that, yes, my service dog could work with me during the day. After an anxiety-inducing 30-minute wait, the manager told me that she had found a room for me at the Bow View. The conference organizers and I had been communicating with the hotel for several weeks. If the hotel had told me from the outset that my dog was welcome to stay during the day (and that they could find me a room at the Bow View) they could have saved this traveler an enormous amount of anxiety. read more

This place is on the pretty crappy side of rustic. We could overlook some of the shortcomings such as 1. Very poor parking - anything taller than a compact SUV (6ft) won't get into the garage so you end up in the back alley which is basically a construction zone, nails and screws on the gound and all. 2. Unprofessional staff. The young man that checked us in was some sort of "fabio" wanna be with shirt open halfway to the navel and a little gold madallion. Fine if you're headed to some disco somewhere but for front desk work at a supposedly upscale lodge? 3. Generally shabby and poorly maintained room and furniture featuring, among other things, a very outdated HVAC unit which didn't seem to work at all. May have had something to do with the broken knob. At least we were able to open the sliding glass door but not really comfortable doing that in a ground floor room. We understand that the rooms are in the process of being updated but if you are sticking people in the cheap seats you should price accordingly so that they don't know they are being ripped off. 4. By far the worst offense and the one that grossed us out was the filthy, mold and mildew infested shower. See the pics. Is it expecting too much that the shower be clean and disinfected before giving us the key? Just plain disgusting. Love the great area but will stay elsewhere next time. read more

I enjoyed my 3 day stay at Banff Park Lodge! The pros: Very helpful staff, including the concierge in the lobby. Everyone was helpful and polite. The lobby was nice and comfortable with a fire in one of the sitting areas to warm up after a chilly morning walk. The pool and hot tubs were great. There are plenty of extra towels. Next to the pool was the eucalyptus steam room, which was so soothing! Breakfast at their restaurant Crave was quite good. They also had a breakfast buffet, but I wasn't that hungry. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Nice shower. Private parking in an underground garage and an area behind the hotel is available for oversized vehicles. The hotel is only about an 8 min walk from the train station, which is the meeting point for many of the local tours. The main streets through town are even closer. It is only about a 2 min walk to the beautiful Bow River and the canoe launch dock. The cons: The south end of the hotel is badly in need of an update. The carpeting, artwork, and decorations look very dated and tired. The carpeting in the elevator looked very grubby. My room #226 was far from the desk and far from the elevator. This hotel has a large footprint, so be prepared to do some walking. The heating register in my bathroom could have used a good scrub. The extra blanket in my room was also very worn. Overall it was a nice place to stay and I'd probably stay there again. read more

First of all the checkin was not informative- when/ where is breakfast, where to park etc.... I wouldn't have written a review if it was just that. The room is old, dirty carpet AND the bed only had sheets and no blanket. The front told us to use the bedspread. We asked if that was changed every time and they said NO! GROSS!!! Also the room is very stuffy and they have no air conditioning. The only positive is that it's 1-2 blocks off the main street. I would not stay here again nor recommend it! read more

Room: Definitely dated from the 90s and felt tired. We booked a superior room with two queens. The beds do not have a duvet or comforter, just a bedspread and top sheet. This will be problematic for winter stays. Pillows are quite soft (I prefer firmer pillows but to each their own). There is decent (free) wifi for basic browsing, but don't expect anything high speed. The separate bathroom sink and powder area sink were convenient, so two people were able to get ready at the same time without getting in each other's way. Heated bathroom floors were an unexpected and nice touch. The temperature controls can be a bit finicky, and it takes a while for the room to adjust to the temperature that you set. We had a little balcony, and chairs were available upon request, not sure why they didn't just have the chairs at the balconies to begin with. Amenities: The "gym" is about the size of a walk-in closet with a treadmill, elliptical, and a few dumbbells on a yoga mat -- it's almost false advertising. The pool area and eucalyptus steam room are nice for hot-cold cycles after a long day of hiking. Nothing fancy though. Most of the men's digital locks in the locker room don't actually work, so don't bring anything valuable with you down there. Location: One of the primary reasons why I picked this hotel is the location. It's also probably one of the only few redeeming qualities of this place. The hotel is about 2 blocks away from the middle of downtown Banff. Front desk: Average service, nothing particularly special. Staff do their job and nothing more. I didn't expect much anyways from this property given previous ratings. Room service: No major complaints, bed was nicely and promptly made each day, and bathroom restocked. The bedspread isn't changed, and you can tell by the dust. The hotel does offer daily room service (I know other places around Banff only do every other day, or longer). Parking: Plenty of underground parking spots. Also some parking above ground at the back of the hotel. Overall: Great location, but the place itself is tired and dated. If you're just looking for a place to sleep after a long day of activities, this place will do the job. read more

Honestly, it's an okay stay for a road trip for a one night stay, but for vacation, I don't prefer this place. The pool has a rough ground, so it's pretty uncomfortable. The bathroom toilets are not really taken care of, so I wouldn't tell you to risk it, as no one really flushes. The internet is pretty bad; when I connected my phone it said no internet connection. I first stayed here 7 years ago with my partner as part of a work retreat, & was a bit underwhelmed at the time. Thankfully, we have chosen to come back in more recent times, & are now fairly fond of the place. Problems - several years ago when the workplace paid for my breakfast buffet, I arrived with almost 25 minutes remaining & they were putting everything away, & were quite blunt about the fact I should grab whatever I wanted fast because nothing else would be added & they were packing up. We've never eaten breakfast here again for this reason (Tim Hortons is only a few blocks away, as are many other restaurants) Hot tub room - we got one about a year ago & it was installed backwards with a very wide ledge all the way around, meaning you could only fill it by getting in first - the taps are not reachable by someone 6 feet tall standing outside the tub. Parking & Internet - not free, & for $10 a day for wi fi, you only get 2 devices per code. (Sometimes you can grab free wi fi from nearly places, but I didn't find anywhere in the hotel that I could pick up Shaw's free service) So, why do I like this place? Nice spacious rooms in good condition, within walking distance of main shopping & restaurant area in Banff. Yes, some of the rooms are a bit dated, but they are clean. I love the bench near the door, where I can take off my boots after a long day of pub crawling :) Every room we've been in had a fridge but not a microwave. The underground parking lot does have a free car wash. & while I found the installation of the hot tub to be really annoying, that room itself was totally updated with a high tech bathroom (you have to see the shower stall to understand it - multiple jets) & most rooms have a decent view - see the photo I took from the window (uploaded on the main Yelp page for the hotel, & it should be visible under my review) There are a few businesses on the main floor - the touristy gift shop is not bad for its genre; we bought a book there last year. We are avid travelers to Banff from SK. We have stayed at Banff Park Lodge a few times in the past. This time was AWFUL. We are a pretty laid back couple, but this time we decided to speak up. Website said pool was open, it was not upon arrival. Had to get the room keys re-programmed 3 times for some reason? There was black Mold around the tub surround. The mattress cover on the bed was stained brown along the edges, however we did not notice until our last day there. Gross.. We advised the front-desk upon checkout of our concerns, and they said "sorry, we will take off the $14/night parking fee". However, it was never taken off upon inspection of our bill. We filled out the survey online afterwards, stating our displeasure and that we would like a manager to contact us. Weeks went by and nothing. Finally I phoned the hotel, and the "Director of Rooms" said sorry it slipped thru the cracks. He said he would look into it and call me back on a specified day. No call was ever made back to me. Finally I phoned him back and asked what is going on, he made every excuse as to why the hotel has gone downhill (COVID, management issues etc.) but no real reason as to why he never called back.. honestly, probably wouldn't have if I hadn't called back. In the end, their answer to everything was "We will give you $100 credit to come back." ...Why would someone want to come back after such a crappy experience?? Not happy with Banff Park Lodge at all, and we definitely do not recommend them. read more

Very disappointed. NO FREE WIFI, you must purchase it. Parking is $12/night and if you have a larger car (ie pickup truck etc) you cannot fit in their underground lot that you are paying for. We had a suburban and had to park in the back of the hotel in the alley, super sketchy. Not even In a spot but rather along a Pickett fence. Unbelievable. *we ended up parking at another hotel for free in a safer lot / spot. Our hotel room stunk like smoke, and there were only 2 large body towels for 4 people in a room. The customer service is terrible, the front desk people didn't even care for our parking concerns. Would never return or recommend. read more

We still have not ate at the restaurant or had a drink at the bar, a bit pricy if you ask me considering you have so many choices just steps away. The staff is very good and thoughtful. There are plenty of options for lodging in the town of Banff. There are also many options throughout the Park. For example, you can also stay at lodging right at some of the main attractions such as Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Emerald Lake, and Johnston Canyon. Of course, the price can vary greatly and be significantly more. I stayed at the Banff Park Lodge. It is a pretty hotel. I felt the room was clean and comfortable. Of course, it is not cheap. At first, I also thought it was tacky to charge for self-parking and internet. However, my hotel up in Jasper cost more. I realized that the price baked in parking and internet. Since many tourists reach Banff without driving a car, it is fair that they do not get charged for parking. Moreover, most visitors are going to be out all day and not use the internet anyway. Overall, I would recommend it as a good place to stay but it is certainly not a must considering how many options there are in town. I can't explain how terrible I found my stay here, but I'll do my best. First and foremost, I do appreciate the location. We were a few minutes from the heart of Banff and only fifteen minutes from the hot springs. The mountain and river views were part of the quintessential Banff experience. But location does not a five-star review make. Everything else was seriously lacking. Note that my review takes place in the ultimate off-season - before the winter fun begins, the summer thrill long over. Take that as you wish! We booked online. Our room looked nothing like the pictures presented. We booked a suite with a tub, which we also did in Jasper. This was not a suite - it had a bed, two ratty armchairs, two sinks (odd) and the tub was right next to the bed. The tub was gross - we ran the tub full to get the grime off. Half the jets weren't working, not because they were closed, but because the handles to twist them open or shut were inexplicably missing. The shower was nice, looked newly renovated. Water pressure in the posterior jets for the shower were intense but the shower head lacked. Weird arrangement. If you're like me and you're on the short side, the jets mean constant streams in your face. Hard to shampoo or shave. The TV was the only source of entertainment because we were not shelling out cash for a service so ubiquitous in today's society. I don't care if more than one chain charges for wireless internet - none of them should. That's absurd. What's also absurd is the TV. Half the channels are news shows, the other half work only 70% of the time. Walls are thin, so we could hear when our neighbours were using their jacuzzis or even laughing. It made me self-conscious about the noise we were producing by even talking. The balcony was nice. I appreciated being able to get some fresh air in a stuffy room. Room service menu lacked extensively. For what they had and the prices they charge, you could walk down the street and get something better. We did get room service dessert, which was phenomenal. What wasn't was us leaving our tray out for collection and seeing it there a full 24 hours later. We watched several staff, from concierges to housekeepers, walk past the tray. Who doesn't collect a tray when they see it?! Edited three hours later - just discovered they charge for all calls, locally or not. Even calling cards have a hotel charge on top. Do the owners live in the 50s? This is bonkers. End edit. Signs say vending machines and ice are on each floor - a call to reception informed us these amenities are only available in the lobby. Pillow menu was interesting. However, capacity was seriously low, and the pillows we requested weren't available. Except ten minutes later a totally different staff member brought up the pillows we wanted. Lack of communication seems to say a lot about this place. The parking lot charge likely shouldn't be $10 since there's free parking on the street BUT a nominal fee is fine, considering it's their property. Don't be fooled by their free car wash. It's a bucket and a house. Not kidding. False advertisement, poor service, outdated rooms -- that's the Banff Park Lodge. Would not recommend. read more

When I checked into the Banff Park Lodge, I was provided with a magnificent room, including a gorgeous bathroom with a large multi-jet rain shower, luxurious king-size bed, fancy linens, flat screen television, etc. Unfortunately, my room was located near a congested elevator on the main floor of the lodge. NOTE: At this time, it is important to mention that I RESERVED a room at the Banff Park Lodge five months ahead of my overnight stay and I provided them with my credit card number as security. So, I was NOT a last-minute guest at all. When I returned to my beautiful king-size room after a very busy day of activities, I was bombarded with noise from people using the elevator, as well as from a dining room kitchen above me, and an evening disco. I thought I would simply grow accustomed to the noise, and gradually fall asleep from my busy day. However, the noise grew increasingly louder throughout the evening. At nearly midnight, the noise was unbearable. I was constantly awakened by the elevator traffic and noisy revelers who were waiting for the elevator, as well as by the overhead noise. So, I telephoned the front desk to request a different room. Although I felt exhausted, I remained calm and polite on the telephone. In response to my request, the front desk promptly informed me that they would be willing to move me to another room, but the other room would be older, and contain double beds. It was located in a separate wing of the lodge. Despite my polite request for a king-size room, the front desk claimed they could not provide me with a comparable room. At about 12:30 AM, I packed up my belongings and reported to the front desk to obtain a new room key. When I arrived at the new room, I was very disappointed. The room was drab, dingy, and outdated. It didn't smell fresh and the double bed was old and uncomfortable. It was a terrible room (compared to my pre-reserved king-size room). For those reasons, I was not impressed with the Banff Park Lodge and will not stay at this lodge in the future. read more

We are here for our second wedding anniversary, and I am so disappointed by the service. We were checked in by a young gentleman, and even though there were notes in our reservation that it was our anniversary (we called the front desk later to confirm), he made no mention of it. He also barely gave us any information about the hotel, so when we arrived to the room, we had to call the front desk and inquire about how the WiFi works (a $10 a day charge on top of a $12 a day fee for self parking). I am disappointed because when we were here last year for our anniversary, our experience was completely different, and it was a big reason why we chose to return to this hotel versus the all of the other options here in Banff. This place was fantastic! We had a huge shower taking up 1/2 the bathroom wall with several settings! I love that the pool sauna and hot tub stay open until midnight! And the location is perfect! The bed was super comfortable and the in room coffee was even local, I thought that was such a nice detail. You can also order pillows if you have a preference! The only thing I would say is it can get noisy from the hallways our door had a big gap under it, otherwise it was superb! read more

First time staying at BPL but won't be the last. This was always my go to for brunch in Banff in the past but I didn't partake this time. As a matter of fact we didn't have any food or drink at the hotel this time so I cannot comment on that in my review. Booking was done online. Website is easy and manoeuvrable which is really all you expect. Photos were accurate if a little understated to reality especially with respect to the size of the room. Check in was quick and easy and the front desk was very friendly. Underground parking was 10 and the only complaint was it was full when we came back from the hotsprings. We managed to get in to the very last spot. Two things contributed to the very full parking garage. (1) some people are just total dicks when it comes to parking. I appreciate that you have fancy Audi, BMW, Acura whatever but when you back in could you at least try not to park on an angle and take up a space and a half? (2) a significant amount of space was taken with construction material as they appear to be upgrading rooms. Unfortunate it takes parking space but not nearly as annoying as the jackass that can't park. Seriously even the SUVs and Pickups that fit in the garage managed to only take one space but you in your pseudo sport car can't? Okay enough of the rant on rude parking habits. On to the room. Our room was on the Rundle side on the 2nd floor. We faced some nice trees and the side street. The entrance to the parking garage is on the same side but didn't notice any noise. I'm not sure how busy the hotel was but it was very quiet in our room. Big balcony with a security bar and blackout curtains that didn't have a gap! Very important for that weekend lay in. The room was HUGE by what I see in most king or two queen rooms, we had two queens. The bathroom is off to the side when you come in but there is a sink with a mirror and good amount of counter space outside the bathroom. Nice for getting ready while someone is in the washroom. The washroom itself has been recently updated and was quite nice. Big vanity, shower with rain head and hand held with good water pressure and loads of hot water. One thing missing, we only got one bar of soap. Typically you get two. One for the sink and one for the shower. Probably more noticeable as we had two sinks but we also didn't call to get another bar. Wasn't a big deal just something we noticed. There is also a mini fridge, decent size closet and safe. There was a gap under the door to the hall as mentioned in the previous posts but honestly this is pretty common and easily solved. Fill the gap with a towel or use the bedcover. Fixed! The beds were awesome! Not too hard not too soft, just right! There is a pillow menu but I didn't partake. The pillows provided were just fine. Sheets were nice, not rough and in good condition as were the towels in the bathroom. There is a big dresser with a 36-40" flatscreen on the wall with a decent selection of channels. Two comfy upholstered chairs and a table in the corner by the window/balcony door. The rooms can be pretty warm and as it in the national park they don't have a/c which really is better for the environment. Wifi is also a fee of $10 per day and I know some have knocked off a star for that and asked who charges for this anymore? As someone who travels for business a lot I can tell you that a lot of hotels charge and usually more than $10. In my experience your Holiday Inn Express and comparable does not charge for wifi but your Marriotts, Hiltons, Sheratons do. So if this bugs you check it out in advance and dont stay at hotels that dont include it if it bugs you so much. The room rate we scored was $144 so I wasn't bothered for the wifi and parking charge. We didn't go to the pool or hot tub as it was before 9 and there were a lot of little kids. Fair enough kids are allowed up until 9. The lounge looked quite cozy. Dark, lots of small tables and seating and a fireplace. Can't comment on the bar service or drinks because we didn't stop in but it looked good and we likely will try it in future. Lastly the location, in a word, awesome! Two blocks off Banff Ave, across the street from Melissa's, walking distance to pretty much every shop, restaurant and bar and right beside the river. Can't beat it. Based on this stay I have no reason to take away a star. The parking is what it is but I got a spot so can't complain. Definitely a 5 star experience. I will make sure to update my review on my next stay (and there will be a next stay) as I will take in the food, drink and pool. read more

Old furniture in the suite. Paid extra for a room with a view. Got a view of the parking lot. Air conditioner was so old it did not work. Way over priced for what you get. Wallpaper in our room was peeling off. Booked a room for 3 people and only had items for 1 person. Coffee, cups, mugs etc. I was just sent a passive aggressive email from someone who claims to work there. Ain't that b . I have reported the emails to yelp. read more

Hotel is clearly older, but very well maintained. Bathrooms are very nicely remodeled, including in floor heating and steam shower. Pipes do knock on the wall; and give the shower a couple of minute, for sure, to heat up. Balcony is a welcomed bonus, as is the amazing view from it. Right downtown. Plus 2 hot tubs (one not as hot if you can't handle heat. Super pleasant surprise) and eucalyptus steam room! Definitely stay here again. Everything was very nice and clean. Very clean hotel with great views of the Rockies. Easy access to all the Banff has to offer. A quick 5minute walk to the center of town where you have access to shops and restaurants. Booked our room through expedia and got a great deal with free parking. read more

RUDE BARTENDER!! Ladies BEWARE Some girlfriends and i were on a pub crawl on Thursday and decided to hit up the lounge at the Banff Park Lodge for a kind of a joke. Its not great looking on the outside, but much to our surprise it looked great on the inside, we were pretty impressed. As soon as we walked in we needed to hit the washroom, went into the lounge and asked the bartender (fake redheaded chick) she politely pointed us in the right direction, while i was turning the corner she, very snidely, said to a guy at the bar "oh great, hope they come back" we all heard but chalked it up to her being annoyed that lots of folks probably use the facilities and don't buy anything. No big deal, the place is DEAD and we need a break from the noise, walking and standing so we were going to hang out Finish the bathroom, hit the lounge. Picked a table directly in front of the bar, waited.... listened to bartender flirt with guy at the bar.... waited.... watched bartender serve guy at the bar 2 drinks.... waited.... got up to walk to the bar.... bartender leaves the bar and walks past me, leaves lounge.... go back to my table.... 10 mins later, bartender returns... approaches our table, "Can I help you ladies?" I say "Yes please can we have a drink menu" She obliges. goes back the bar continues to flirt. we wait another 10 mins. (30+ mins before our 1st drink). We should have left then but we were having a great chat and laugh so we brushed it off. Get our drinks.... finish our drinks, wait all over again. When she comes back after the ice has pretty much melted in our empty drinks and asks if she can get us anything else or do we want our tab? (pushy) We order another drink, my girlfriend orders a double something or other, she informs us that her providing us a "double" of anything would be illegal, I laughed, genuinely thinking she was joking, and ask why was that... because we were already over served. At this point we're 3 hours and about 5 drinks each in, we've eaten, and drank a water with every drink.(including our drinks there) Hey, we were tipsy for sure, by no means at all were we DRUNK or "over served". Over all I felt like I interrupted her date and we were a huge inconvenience and we CLEARLY were not welcome. We paid the tab, even tipped her 15%. As we were leaving we heard her complaining about us to her boyfriend. Here is the sad thing, this is a semi annual tradition for my girlfriends and I and we come with fully loaded credit cards, take a night to totally unwind and party it up in the mountains, we hit as many different pubs/bars/lounges whatever we can and spend a decent amount of money... this is by far our worst experience in Banff and one place we'll happily avoid in the future read more

Great room and a reasonable price! Got the jacuzzi suite over the Canada long weekend, for just over $300/night taxes in. In a regular day that price is significantly less. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable of the area and eager to help. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with modern linens and a pillow menu. The jacuzzi is big, easily fitting two people. It is also clean (for now!) The BPL is conveniently located a short 5 minute walk from downtown Banff, which is full of restaurants, shopping and tourist attractions. If you're looking for a great hotel, without spending $500 a night at the Chateau or Rimrock the BPL is worth a look. read more

Stayed here on a travelzoo voucher for two nights. Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at in banff, even the famed Fairmont Banff Springs was disappointing, but I found this to be very clean, with updated fixtures, comfortable beds, and brand new flat LCD tv. The voucher gave us 2 for 1 for the breakfast buffet and I was not dissapointed. Maybe the best breakfast buffet from a hotel I've ever had! Healthy options, fresh fruit and of course standard buffet fare. Colin at the front desk probably one of the most polite and helpful of the staff here. But everyone was very professional. read more
