We visited this Asian fusion restaurant and were seated quickly upon arrival. The ambiance was clean, modern, and had a beautiful dark Asian aesthetic that set the mood perfectly. However, I was disappointed to find there were no full booths--only half table/booth setups. Additionally, the two-seat tables were placed side by side in such a way that felt overly cramped, leaving little space between parties and detracting from the overall sense of comfort and privacy.
Drinks:
The drink menu was incredibly curated, offering creative options with unique presentations. I opted for the shareable tea cocktail, which unfortunately missed the mark for me. It was far too sweet, and I found myself questioning whether the alcohol content justified the high price point since I couldn't taste any alcohol at all.
While I appreciated the fun touch of selecting my glass for the tea, the glasses available were far too small. The concept is cute, but larger glasses would be much more practical so I wouldn't need to refill after every sip. The drink also came with a dragon prop that emitted dry ice smoke, which felt like an unnecessary and wasteful gimmick that didn't enhance the drink itself.
Food:
The food was a mix of highs and lows.
* Pork Belly Buns: These were tasty, but nothing extraordinary. They were solid but didn't leave a lasting impression.
* Pork Yakisoba: I requested the spicy chuno sauce be removed since I don't handle spice well. While the server assured me it was, the dish still had a noticeable spice level. That said, the dish was flavorful, and I appreciated the balance of textures and ingredients.
* Ribs: Unfortunately, this dish was a major disappointment. The ribs were overly spicy, to the point of being inedible. While the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, the excessive heat completely overpowered any other flavors. I had to send this dish back.
* Ruka Rainbow Roll: A standout sushi option. Fresh ingredients, beautifully wrapped, and paired with a well-balanced sauce that elevated the flavors. A dependable and satisfying choice.
* Yuzu Beef: Ordered as a replacement for the ribs, this was the highlight of the meal. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired with perfectly sticky sushi rice that soaked up the delicious sauce. This dish is a must-try!
* Fried Dough Chachangas: For dessert, these were absolutely delicious and ended the meal on a high note. I recommend asking for an extra scoop of ice cream, as the dough-to-ice cream ratio felt off. The ice cream enhances the dish beautifully, so it's worth balancing them.
Service:
Our server was wonderful--friendly, hardworking, and patient despite the many adjustments and questions we had. They were attentive and kind, which made the overall experience much more pleasant.
Final Thoughts:
While the ambiance and service were excellent, the food and drink were hit-or-miss. The cramped table setup and lack of space between parties detracted from the overall experience, as did the overly sweet cocktail and poorly executed ribs. However, the yuzu beef and dessert stood out as must-try items. With some adjustments to the menu, drink presentations, and layout, this restaurant could truly shine. read more
