First time here but value myself as a bit of a pizza connoisseur. Food/Drink: Pizza by the slice! Decent New York style pizza. Limited options and combos. The grandma slice with grated Parmesan was weird. Full deli style menu, glass case of meats, some Italian entree options. Pizza: Good crunch not too much, not to doughy. Decently flavorful, and few of topping options. No Sauce with the knot. Dinning Area: Pretty small, open, limited seating! Kinda drafty. Prices: Relatively cheap. 2 slice, bottle soda, and a knot for $10! Parking: Plenty of space, shared parking lot, strip mall type. Bathrooms: No customer bathrooms. Atmosphere: During the weekday lunch rush, pretty slow, but seem to do more delivery than anything. Staff/Attendants: Girls at the counter were Great, motivated-ish interactions. Customer service is awful. Asked for blue cheese dressing on our buffalo chicken pizza (which is THE pizza we go there for) and the response from the manager was "yea, we aren't doing that." I picked up my order and paid my $53 for 2 pizzas and asked why I can't get my food the way I want it. Sometimes this is not an issue - so why the inconsistency???? Needless to say the response was based on how other customers like their food. It's very disappointing. Reading other reviews I see that customer service is a long standing issue. We ordered the thanksgiving meals that serve 4 people but we actually got 6 meals out of it. The food was delicious, it actually tasted like a homemade dinner! It came with half a turkey, stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, Gravy and cranberry sauce. We also got an apple pie! We were so very pleased with EVERYTHING, job well done! I order quite often. Delivered my daughters birthday party catering order correctly and perfectly on time. Every take out order is hot, delicious and delivery drivers are super friendly. Chicken parm, meatball subs, and calzones are my favorites. Large portions with lots of sauce and cheese - sometimes I order a child's entree for myself and it's plenty! We love Ruggiero's and continue to try different items when we have the opportunity. We also like that they deliver later than most of the other places (please keep later operating and delivery hours!!). This time we had a mediterranean salad, stuffed pepperoni bread, spicy teriyaki chicken wings, andWe built our own pizza with a garlic oil base (like a white pizza) with Sausage, peppers, mushrooms, and onions. The salad was especially good, it was fresh, had everything you'd expect and all the contexts made for a truly tasty combination. The wings also had great flavor. We usually get hot but saw "spicy" and thought we'd give it a try. They definitely aren't hot but very flavorful. Compared to other places, the wings are size-able meaning at least it's a wing that had a "little meat on their bones" (and yes that's a sizable joke because a meaty wing is what you want but too often don't get). The stuffed pepperoni bread was yummy! Lots of cheese and the bread is outstanding (as always). Lastly, their build your own pizzas are a treat because they provide so many different high quality ingredients that you're able to make endless combinations. Plus multiple sizes and cuts are available. In addition to high quality ingredients, what makes their pizza outstanding is their dough! The crust is thin but not soggy or floppy, so it can handle the ingredients and it taste like you would expect a pizza crust to taste like, not sweet, but rather a crust that you'd want to complement the toppings, not clash with them. I just moved to town and have already been here twice. The first time we got a pie, and it was delicious. The crust is great and they did not skimp on the toppings. Fairly priced pie in my opinion. The second time I got a cold sub, and it was so good I was compelled to write this review. You get a lot of sandwich for the price. The bread is incredible, and again they do not skimp on your choice of meats. The staff has always been friendly, and the first time we went for the pie we ate inside and shot the shit with the owner. Very cool, down to earth guy from the area. I highly recommend Ruggiero's. I guess this town doesn't have a board of health. This place was so dirty it looked like sandwich crime scene. As I walked in to the place for lunch we didn't know if the place was open. The open sign was turned off and the slicer jockey treated us with all the warmth of a S.S. prison camp guard. She tried to combine my order with a total stranger. luck would have it the other guy walked out due to her warmth of service. I have no idea why the locals haven took to the streets and closed this place down. The food sucked. Boars head should pull there products to keep from tarnishing there good name. Please hold the attitude with my crappy sandwich I just would like to know if the owners get paid for hiring these fresh from prison employees, and pay them a bonus for each person they insult. read more

Quite frankly I'm shocked that this place is rated so low.... This is my go to for subs when I am in town! I've never had anything else besides the subs so this review is just for them! I always call my order in because it does take some time whenever I just drop in but I don't mind because they people here are always nice. I love the bread they use it had a wonderful slight crunch on the outside yet is soft and fluffy in the middle. I always get the roast beef, I enjoy mine on the rare side and theirs is perfect, and they do Not skimp on the meat! The subs are pretty large too, I have to save half to eat for later! Ruggiero's is a pretty decent place. I stopped here for a quick lunch today and got some pizza. I'll be honest: I really don't have much to say about the place, good or bad. Nothing really stood out as great or noteworthy. All I can say is that it was good enough and I'd go back again if I was in the mood. It's a relatively small space. They have RC Cola (oooh), so that's cool. Every now and then I have a bizarre craving for RC. They take credit cards, but the minimum charge is $10. I found that to be kind of annoying, especially these days when so many people (including myself) rarely carry any cash on them. Although I had confirmation of order as well as verification of payment the owner would not make good. He continued to tell me he would make the order ONLY if I paid 42.65 again. Not only poor customer service John Ruggiero displayed he is a condescending jerk. 20+ years ordering from a business his father built and I will never step foot back in. Ordered a 24 cut and 40 wings off of there website menu. When I went to pick it up, the price was around $10.00 more than calculated from their website. When I asked the girl about this, she said " we raised our wing prices 3 weeks ago but haven't changed it on the website." If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. The HORRIBLE experience began the moment I walked in the door, when the staff looked at me like I just broke into their home. "Are you buying something?", "Are you here to pick something up or what?". After brushing that aside - I was told it would be 30 to 40 minutes to make a grilled chicken sandwich and was told a few times, "Your sandwich is going to take at least 30 to 40 minutes because our fryer is being used right now". Not sure - but I have never used a fryer to grill chicken. So after I decided I didn't want the grilled sandwich via deep fryer - I made another order and sat to wait. When I was sitting down, I started to realize how dirty the place was - the floor is a mess, the counters are dirty and had finger prints and hand marks all over them, some of the staff was using their bare hands to cut other peoples food. Not a very clean place to eat. "Updated on 11/20/12" I decided to update this review after the "Filtered" responce the owner of the business obviously posted. The owner clearly did NOT read my review when they posted "anyone with a brain would know that grilled chicken isn't made in a deep fryer" that was 100% my point, I ordered GRILLED chicken and was told that I would have to wait because the fryer is in use LOL. And the other comment "I would suggest not going to a pizzeria or deli on one of the busiest days of the year. " clearly reflects that they are understaffed, I was the only person in the place ordering food and was treated poorly. I was eager to try this place out one more time to see if they were simply having a bad day, but after reading other reviews its obvious this is just how they run their business. I was only continuing to go here because of the convenience, but today was the last day. After going inside, no one was at the counter so I took about 3 steps away. When another customer entered, they were asked what they wanted and I was simply ignored, even if I was standing right there. Granted I didn't say anything, thinking she was just going to get a slice or something, but then she ended up having a large order and somehow 3 other people stacked up in the line behind her while I stood next to her. Realizing I now will not get food for at least 20 mins, I just started to leave, and of coarse no one stopped me or cared that I was walking out. Seems small but it was kind of the last straw. Other times I've gone there in the past, I had witnessed the counter girl talked down. I've seen the workers smoking in the back parking lot. No one in the back wears gloves, sometimes they wear them in the front. I've seen an employee drop the tongs on the floor and not properly clean them before using them. The food itself is ok, when its fresh. Had the thanksgiving meal there twice, once was good, once it was not. read more

Once again, I decided to venture to a nearby restaurant during a trip to the laundromat. I decided to check out Ruggiero's for a quick slice of pizza. Let's just say that I've had better. Service was rather slow, to the point where there was a line of customers and no one behind the counter willing to help. I had ordered a couple of slices of pizza, which the staff left out too long in the oven due to the line of customers. Therefore, the pizza was a little too burnt and not terribly edible. oh how i want to love this place. we did enjoy a good pizza here recently, so i will give them "kudos" for a great, reasonably priced pizza....but tonight i stopped in to pick up "garlic knots" to accompany a dinner a friend was preparing for us. when i asked how much they were, i was told "a dollar a piece..." i was surprised, because other eateries have offered say, maybe a half dozen for ...whatever $. i asked how BIG the garlic knots would be. the guy waiting on me pointed to several sizeable garlic knots sitting in a pan of some sort, covered in butter, or so i thought. i mean, they were SHINY looking. so you would think butter, correct? i bought four. got to my friends house, and my friend asked "what is that glaze on them???" i replied "probably butter...?" but... no soft, shiny butter oozing. none. the "glaze" was like an acrylic glaze, like someone's art project. they were hard as rocks, like shiny hockey pucks. we tried gently warming them, but they only got worse. we feared breaking teeth, compared dentists. we strived in desperation to find a soft, dough-ey center, but alas, it never existed. after tossing them into the garbage can, we thought maybe we should have tried STEAMING them! however, they were already surrendered to the can, and surrounded by a couple days' worth of coffee grounds, sink strainer offerings, dirty napkins, smelly cat food cans. it was indeed a sad sight. i realized i could have spent the same money and received a fresh loaf of luscious, perfect, baked bread from stella pasta bar instead. i didn't even think to call and let them know about the shiny hockey pucks, passed off as garlic knots. we managed without them.... read more

Seems like Jennifer B. and Jay A. had a bad experience on the same day, sounds convenient. Anyone with a brain would know that grilled chicken isn't made in a deep fryer, most likely he ordered something that needed to be fried, and looking by the date he posted (Superbowl Sunday) of course the fryers would be full. If you're going to be that annoyed about waiting half an hour for your food, I would suggest not going to a pizzeria or deli on one of the busiest days of the year. My whole office orders Ruggiero's salads daily, and they are not just shredded lettuce. Actually, they don't use shredded lettuce at all in the salads, so that sounds like a slight exaggeration. Sounds to me like these comments are nothing short of people that have too much free time on their hands. I have never had a bad experience with their food or service, and neither has anyone I know. If this place had the horrible food and service that these people claim, it would not still be in business after 20 years. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that I wish they had a slightly larger dining area. It is always packed during lunch hour, but I know I can't get the same homemade bread or fresh deli meat anywhere else in the area. I highly recommend trying their roast beef or turkey, which are both cooked right on premises. Enjoy!! read more

mom wanted Ruggiero's for her birthday dinner. i had never heard of this place before, but since it was her special day we obliged! we got two eggplant parmigiana dinners, and a lasagna dinner. all three came with bread and soup, and the eggplant dinners came with pasta as well. they had our order hot & ready on the dot for our pick up time. i have to say, i was pleasantly surprised! i rarely, and i mean RARELY eat eggplant, but this was absolutely delicious! very tender, lots of sauce & cheese. the bread was fresh and soft, and the soup was good. all in all i was very impressed with our dinner and we will definitely be ordering from here again! read more

I signed up for yelp simply to warn other people about this place. "Freddy P" hit the nail right on the head. They have ZERO warmth, and for a business that has been in business for 20+ years, you would think they were a little more respectful to their customers. I was in line and witnessed from start to finish a RUDE and COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE conversation that one of the staff had with a customer. I was treated fine but the other patron asked for a sandwich that was SLIGHTLY different then the one they had on the menu and she was treated as if she asked them to put a $100.00 bill on the sandwich. We pick up quite a bit. It definitely is wise to call your order in and pick it up. I have not had any "attitude" from any of the staff especially when they are busy. Glenville is a tough place to get something good to eat and I would recommend ruggieros vs some of the other few places that definitely I would not walk into yet alone eat anything from. Homestyle couldn't make it in Glenville now they're building an Applebees...Yuck. I will support Ruggerios and hope that others do also. read more
