We were looking for a place for breakfast in Murray, KY, and we didn't really want to go to Cracker Barrel. Passed by this diner on the town square and decided to give it try. Wow! I know why they've been in business since 1936! It was a small, rather crowded and busy space, but we found a space at the counter next to the pickup window. The food was being turned out quickly, and I took a peek in the kitchen, only to see 5 people working as a well oiled machine. We ordered our food, and a local sat down next to us. Apparently he knew everyone behind the counter. It was a very small town feel with a vintage diner vibe. Our meals came and I think that was the first Western omelette I ever had that had more fillings than eggs. Everything was delicious, particularly the coffee. If you're in Murray you should check it out!

The Willow Bistro immediately caught my eye, so I didn't think twice. The menu had American, Thai, Ethiopian, Mexican, and Mediterranean inspired dishes. There's something for everyone, and you truly can get a taste of the world here. I love an extensive and global menu. But beyond that, I love amazing food. The food at The Willow Bistro is amazing. Everything is made from scratch in the kitchen, which should come as no surprise once you dig in. Everything we had was homey, flavorful, and clearly made with love and intention. Pro tip: do not skip the fruit curry. What a smooth, unique, and flavorsome blend of sweet and savory. I loved everything that was on our table, but this dish was the most memorable. The service? Also phenomenal. Our server was so kind, patient, hospitable, knowledgeable, and empathetic. She was a gem. The setup is also charming, clean, cozy, and welcoming. Everything about The Willow Bistro deserves 5/5 stars. If I'm ever passing through Murray again, The Willow Bistro will be my first stop.

We stuck it out and got great service, I can't remember our waitresses name but it was 7/5 at about 7:30. She was very nice and friendly. We ordered the mushroom burger and one of the pork dishes to pair with a bottle of wine. The food and wine were delicious! The burger and the pork came out cooked perfectly! The steak fries that came with the burger were different because they were literally a potato cut into four pieces, seasoned and cooked perfectly though! This was a very nice restaurant and it would be perfect for a date night as they do serve excellent food. The bill was about $52 but it was well worth the money. I'm sure that it is busier on the weekends but I hope it picks up at all times because it was amazing and deserves to do well. If we have time, we will definitely stop here again while on this trip!

Making it in the door just before 8:PM to be seated was most likely not a good idea, we took our chances and were seated in the main dinning room, a lovely place. We placed our appetizer order while looking over the menu. Due to the fact that my sweetheart has an allergy to Gluten and most of the appetizers were fried we chose the Seared Scallops, now as not to waste time and knowing they wanted to close early we made our dinner choices, the 14oz Sirloin cooked Medium and the Seared Ahi Tuna with the the marinade on the side as these marinade usually have soy sauce in them and most soy sauces have gluten. Now our appetizer came to the table Fried Scallops ? We looked at the plate and looked at each other, then we asked to see the menu again, we were sure that we ordered the Seared Scallops, the owner came over and asked if there was a problem and we asked about the Scallops and told her about my Sweetie's gluten allergy, she stated that you can have the scallops Seared or Fried, she never offered to take them back and prepare them seared as we were sure that we ordered or to prepare something else for us. Now comes the dinner, my Steak was cooked perfectly medium, but, the Ahi Tuna was over cooked. Needless to say my sweetheart did not have a good dinner or experience at the Brass Lantern however, we will give them another chance as we all know that anyone can have a bad day and it was not all bad, their place is a charming spot just off of the lake. I did read on their website that the owners moved to Kentucky to open this restaurant, the husband has many years of experience in restaurant management and the wife has a bookeeping background, this must have been the bookeeper we encountered as her hospitality and customer service was not her strong suit.

The next time, not so much. They changed the menu to their "winter" menu, siting food costs in the winter. They no longer had melted cheese or chili for fries. They also put shredded cheese on the burger. It just changes the taste and texture. I'll likely skip them until they update the menu on the spring. I think the inconsistency is unfortunate. I pay $15 for a burger, fries and a tip. I think that adding regular cheese and offering the traditional items all of the time would be more beneficial. Had I tried it the first time, with the winter menu, I wouldn't order again. Since they come to my job site once a week, looks like I will be bringing my lunch until they update the menu again. I would also recommend that with the keto option (no bun) they allow you to skip the fries or just have a small side salad or something. It would be nice for those of us who prefer to eat keto during the week.
