This place has been here for a long time and I personally like the big burgers with the crispy edges and the chocolate milk shakes are amazing. Seems like you always have to pull up and wait sometimes service is good but sometimes not but I guess since people keep coming back they don't need to strive to be better. Basically pull up and wait for someone to come to your car window and order and wait until they come back and either eat in the car and sit or eat and drive. Service was great ! Girls were keeping the group taken care of. The food has changed. My burger was paper thin and burnt around the edges. No flavor ! The French fries were a soft half cooked. The shakes had changed the most. Mine was peanut butter that tasted like old peanut butter or a cheap version! Awful ! I was so disappointed. That was my first of the season. My husbands was chocolate and it looked like vanilla. Maybe a teaspoon of chocolate. The prices has increased si ce last year which I didn't mind if the quality of food had been as good as in past years. Ot was a disappointment. I got the Belew's every chance I get. The reason for only 4 stars is they only take cash and the wait is always long, but yes worth it. I had my first taste of Belew's 20 years ago with one of their world famous shakes and it has stuck with me. Diner style hamburgers and fries that are great for dipping your milkshake. They offer outdoor seating or car hop service. They are always busy so plan to be there for a while. And remember they only take CASH. We made a trip down to the Murray area for my daughter to visit two of her favorite college eateries; Matt B's just next to campus at Murray State and Belew's, which is about a 20 minute jaunt over to the Lake Barkley/Kentucky Lake area, aka, the Land Between The Lakes. Belew's is car hop carryout only due to the Pandemic. In other visits you could sit outside on picnic tables. Your order is taken by friendly folks at your vehicle door and delivered the same. Belew's operates on a reduced schedule in September and closes for the season in October. Nothing fancy; just good summer food - Burgers sizably fashioned, cooked thin on a griddle with that crispy cooked edge. Hot dogs, chicken, fish are also standards. Prices are very reasonable. We got in early after visiting Kentucky Lake to avoid a Friday weekend lake visitor surge. The weather was about as good as it could be: mid-70's, sunny, light breeze. We got a couple burgers, mine fully dressed with cheese, the other plain. A dog, some fries and a couple vanilla shakes. All very good with only a short expected wait. My shake lasted to Hopkinsville in its styro cup. We headed back to Louisville after our day in the area. It was neat to see changes at Murray and the Botanical garden at lunch was a great venue for Matt B's carryout. Kentucky Lake is so massive and beautiful, it does not get the credit it deserves from locals in Louisville due to its driving distance, some 3+ hrs away. It was busy on labor day weekend but we sat at a table outside. it did take a little bit before someone came and took our order but watching others the service seemed to be good.
